The action may have started early today (Sat., Aug. 31, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 15 live on ESPN+ from inside Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, China, but it delivered late in epic fashion, as Weili Zhang become UFC’s first Chinese champion after she took out women’s strawweight titleholder Jessica Andrade in just 42 seconds.
In addition to Zhang’s incredible title fight finish, welterweight veteran Li Jingliang added another impressive knockout to his highlight reel with a third-round TKO stoppage over streaking Brazilian contender Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, rising middleweight prospect Anthony Hernandez made good on his “Prelims” headliner with a submission stoppage over Jun Yong Park, light heavyweight finisher Da Un Jung made a memorable UFC debut with a submission over Russian youngster Khadis Ibragimov, and bantamweights Alatengheili and Danaa Batgerel squared off in a heart-pounding “Prelims” affair that made the early A.M. watching worthwhile.
