The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to test out another Canadian market this coming summer with a possible visit to Calgary, Alberta on July 21 for what is likely to be UFC 149.

The only venue that meets the UFC’s needs is the 19,000 seat Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the NHL’s Calgary Flames ice hockey team.

News of the new Canadian stop was first reported by Joe Ferraro for Sportsnet.ca on Friday.

The UFC has already paid visits to Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver in previous years, but will now take their first trip to the Prairies when they visit Calgary. So far for 2012, the UFC appears to only be visiting Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary.

Calgary is most famous for the Calgary Stampede, called “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” which features one of the world’s largest rodeos, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing and First Nations exhibitions. White cowboy hats are the custom for the ten day event, as well as the city, so expect Dana White to sport a white stetson at some point during his visit. This year’s show is scheduled for July 6-15, 2012 so any fans wanting to take a trip North of the border may want to take an extra week.

No bouts have been identified for the event, but fans can expect it to feature a very Canadian heavy card.
