Alex Morono scored his first knockout finish in UFC competition earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 9, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 4 from inside the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas, when he ended veteran Zak Ottow via first-round TKO (punches and elbows).

Both welterweights landed their shots early into the first. Ottow seemed to do a little more damage with stiff jabs and body kicks. During a takedown by Ottow, Morono was able to grab a hold of the neck and squeeze for a guillotine submission. Ottow managed to pop his head free but gave up full mount in the process. Full mount soon turned to back control and Morono had free range to land heavy ground-and-pound until the referee stepped in for the the stoppage.

With this performance, Morono grabs his first win streak since entering UFC back in 2016, as “The Great White” is coming off a decision win over Kenan Song this past November. Ottow was the one who called for this fight so the ending must have been extra sweet for Morono. We’ll see if he can parlay this finish into a run at the top 15 in 2019.
