Despite failing to become UFC champion recently, Urijah Faber still believes he can compete with the best of the best.

Faber, who is now 37 years old, dropped to 0-4 in title fights inside the Octagon with a decision loss to Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight belt at UFC 199.

And despite making it seem like maybe retirement was next for “The California Kid” immediately after the fight, Faber wants to see what comes up before he ultimately makes that decision.

“I know I’m right there at the top,” Faber said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “I don’t know what’s next necessarily. I’m gonna chill for a bit. But I’m definitely not done done.”

While much has been made of the feud between Faber and former Team Alpha Male teammate TJ Dillashaw, that is not a fight he really wants to take.

“I’m not necessarily itching for that fight,” Faber said. “That’s just a bad feeling altogether when I think about that. It makes me more sad than anything. It’s not like I’m angry about anything. It’s just kind of weird.”
