UFC hall-of-famer Urijah Faber is calling for a return fight.
Urijah Faber officially hung up his MMA gloves back in 2016, but as history has shown, retirements in combat sports are often temporary.
Last March, the UFC Hall-of-Famer noted that he’s already considering a comeback. Now, he already has a date and venue in mind: July 13, when the UFC returns to his hometown of Sacramento.
Faber previously spoke about a possible bout with T.J. Dillashaw, but with his rival and former teammate out on a lengthy USADA suspension, he says he’s open to competing against anyone at either bantamweight or featherweight.
UFC Fight Night: Sacramento will be an ESPN+ card, and still currently doesn’t have a main event announced. Faber, a local star in Sacramento, has competed and headlined numerous events in the area dating back to his WEC days. He is also still on the USADA testing pool, which makes his return on this event possible, if the UFC wanted to make it happen.
Despite not being active in the UFC, records show that Faber has been tested by USADA once so far in 2019, and three times each in 2018 and 2017.
Faber, now 40-years-old, has had a couple of submission grappling matches since retiring from mixed martial arts. He’s currently set to face grappling phenom Nicky Ryan at Polaris 10 on May 25.
