Vitor Belfort won’t call it quits after UFC 187: ‘I will be back at full strength’

Vitor Belfort won’t retire after UFC 187.

The 38-year-old veteran, who failed to win the middleweight championship on Saturday night, suffering a first-round TKO loss against undefeated champion Chris Weidman, will likely get back inside the Octagon in the future.

On his Instagram page, the former UFC light heavyweight champion said he’s upset with his performance, promising to “be back in full strength”.

I am always very happy, but I confess that I am still upset with my performance at UFC 187 I was going very well. I’d like to thank all of my family, friends, team, sponsors and fans for all the love and support. I love you all, but now I need to relax and be with my wife @joanapradob and kids.

I will be back at full strength!

I apologize to my Brazilian people and everyone around the world who is part of my time for not bringing the victory. It is great to have all of you with me here!

I ask that God may bless every single one of you who cry and share laughs with me.

See you soon!

Since returning to the Octagon in 2009, Belfort (24-11) went 6-0 in non-title fights, stopping all the opponents via knockout or submission. “The Phenon” fought for the title in three opportunities, being finished by Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and Weidman.
