There’s no arguing that Jonathan Koppenhaver, better known in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world as “War Machine,” belongs behind bars if the attempted murder charges he’s facing for allegedly beating ex-girlfriend Christy Mack are true.
But, in the face of the law, Koppenhaver should still be able to practice freedom of religion. The 34-year-old recently took to Twitter to explain an issue he’s having from inside the prison cell, per a report by TMZ Sports.
According to “War Machine,” he’s been informed by the Nevada High Desert State Prison that he will not be allowed to take communion on Passover, which would impose on his freedom to express his religious beliefs. Koopenhaver is on the prison list for innamtes who identify Jewish.
The former MMA knockout artist also reached out to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in an attempt to further publicize his ongoing issues from behind bars.
