Now that Jon Jones is back in the mixed martial arts (MMA) fold his feud with current UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will gain even more traction.

The two rival combat stars truly don’t like each other, which is why they’ve already launched verbal missiles at one another over the past few weeks. Whether it was Cormier challenging the authenticity of United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for letting Jones off with a reduced sentence or Jones putting “DC” on blast for never being able to beat him, the two fighters are headed for yet another cosmic collision.

Luckily, fight fans have a front row seat.

Cormier, who is never one to bite his tongue, returned fire at Jones earlier today via Instagram (shown below). The UFC champion took more than a few personal shots at Jones, which is really par for the course at this point.

“So here we go again Jonny boy,” wrote Cormier. “First off, if you did nothing wrong and were ‘innocent’ then you’d have never been suspended. You’ve had to stand before these people and arbitrators so many times it’s insane. So you slipped again, how many times can one man slip?

“I’ve been tested 70 times and I haven’t slipped once. How do you explain that? And on top of all the cheating you’ve done around UFC 182, UFC 200 and UFC 214 that’s not even the straw that broke the camel’s back. You are actually a SNITCH!

“You think you’re the only one that’s been offered this deal? No, you’re just the only scumbag low enough to take it! Which one of your teammates did you tell on to get this joke of a punishment from USADA! I thought there was nothing lower than a cheater but it’s not surprising that you show me a whole new level. You’re a cheater and a SNITCH! Get off my page and go do some coke, or steroids or whatever you losers do in your spare time.”

With Jones rumored to return to action later this year at UFC 232 in a rematch with light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson and Cormier on the brink of a massive superfight with WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, it may be a while before the two lock horns in a third, and presumably final, bout.

While Jones has gotten the better of Cormier on two separate occasions, the failed drug tests cast a wide cloud over those victories. That’s why Jones, along with Cormier, need to win the trilogy bout to solidify their individual legacies in the sport.
