Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, recently revealed that a fight between Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov was unlikely to happen anytime soon due to some secret issues that are keeping “El Pantera” out of action.

No fret, Chan Sung Jung is ready to step in and fill the void as “The Korean Zombie” is looking to lock down a Featherweight showdown against “ZaBeast” in an effort to get back into the championship picture.

“I want Zabit (Magomedsharipov),” Jung told MMA Junkie. “That’s the fight that’s going to get me closest to a title shot. More than that, I want to once again try to prove myself against one of the hottest fighters in the division and prove that I’m still capable of competing at the highest level. Of course, I would understand if he doesn’t want to fight me.”

“Korean Zombie” was last seen coming up short against former 145-pound title challenger, Brian Ortega, in the main event of UFC Fight Island 6 this past October (see it again here). The loss snapped his two-fight win streak. A win over Magomedsharipov would be a sure-fire way to climb back into title contention.

“This is a fight that would bring the fans to their feet,” he added. “(He) and I are both entertainers and extremely competitive, so I think he’d like to step in the octagon with me.”

Zabit (No. 3) is currently riding a 14-fight win streak — including winning his first six contests inside the Octagon — and was last seen defeating Calvin Kattar over a one year ago in Moscow, Russia.

Anyone digging a potential scrap between “Korean Zombie” and “ZaBeast?”
