The UFC added a gaggle of fights to their October event in Portland today. Here’s the run down.

Will Brooks asked for a fight with Edson Barboza in Portland recently. That is not what he received. The former Bellator champ, who is currently ranked at number 12 at lightweight after one fight (and win) in the UFC, will instead take on Alex Oliveira at the October event in Oregon, also known as UFC Fight Night 96.

The bout was announced by the UFC today, along with a few others.

Brooks (19-1, 1-0 UFC) defeated Ross Pearson by unanimous decision last month. Oliveira (15-3-1, 1 NC, 4-2 UFC) picked up a win over James Moontasri at UFC on Fox 20 just over a week ago. He has won four of his last five overall.

Another notable bout added to the card comes in the flyweight division, with Sergio Pettis taking on Louis Smolka. Pettis (14-2, 5-2 UFC) hasn’t competed since April, where he decisioned Chris Kelades. Smolka (11-1, 5-1 UFC) stopped Ben Nguyen with strikes last month and is on a four-fight win streak overall.

Former Strikeforce champ Nate Marquardt (34-16-2, 12-9 UFC) will also fight in Portland, taking on Tamdan McCrory. (14-4, 4-4 UFC).

Other bouts announced include a heavyweight fight between Shamil Abdurakhimov and Walt Harris; Josh Burkman and Bobby Green meeting in a lightweight bout; and Kelly Faszholz vs. Ketlen Vieira at women’s bantamweight.

Ian McCall receives win and show money following cancelled UFC 201 fight

While Ian McCall was unable to make his UFC return on Saturday’s UFC 201 pay-per-view, the flyweight contender at least got paid his show and win money by the promotion.

Ian McCall’s (13-5-1) 18-month layoff was supposed to end at UFC 201, but Justin Scoggins‘ weight cutting problems resulted in the bout’s cancellation. “Uncle Creepy” has had as many fights fall through as he’s had actual bouts inside the Octagon (6). If there’s any consolation of McCall, it’s the fact that the UFC gave him both his show purse and his win bonus. MMAjunkie confirmed this with UFC officials prior to last Saturday’s event. McCall also acknowledged Dana White and Sean Shelby in a tweet he sent out on July 29th.

Yes thank you to @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc for coming through big and giving it all to me. Means a lot. https://t.co/yRpAW7bz2I

— Ian McCall (@Unclecreepymma) July 29, 2016

McCall was a standby opponent in case any other flyweight had dropped off the card, and weighed in on Friday to at least assure himself of his show purse. Salaries aren’t yet known at the time of his writing, but McCall’s last fight saw him receive $22,300 for his loss vs. John Lineker. McCall had a $16,000 salary, plus an additional $6,300 after Lineker missed weight and forfeited 30% of his purse to Ian.

For the record, Scoggins, who will head up to bantamweight, cost himself dearly, as he (unsurprisingly) won’t even his receive his show money.
