In what will be the third meeting of Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya in a combat setting, the Brazilian recalled the moment his son entered the ring mimicking Adesanya after he was on the receiving end of a devastating knockout.

Pereira has bested Adesanya twice in both meetings in the first instance beating the current middleweight champion via decision before unleashing a furious head kick which stopped ‘The Last Stylebender dead in his tracks the second time around. This was the only time in Adesanya’s professional career that he had been defeated by knockout also.

Now looking ahead to the third meeting of these two men taking place in the main event of UFC 281 where middleweight gold will be up for grabs, Pereira went onto social media to highlight the moment his son Alessandro entered the kickboxing ring to mimic the impact left upon Adesanya by his father.

“I told them before not to let him in the ring (laughing emoji) (my son Alessandro after I knocked Adesanya out)” Pereira said on his social media.

Israel Adesanya promises revenge in UFC 281 title defence against Alex Pereira

In what appears to be Adesanya’s toughest test to date not only physically but mentally the champion will be looking to exact revenge on Alex Pereira and continue his dominance in the middleweight division. Undefeated in the 185-pound weight class the current champion’s only loss inside an MMA cage came when he dared to be great and challenged then light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz for his title.

‘Polish Power’ was able to get the better of Adesanya using a well-structured approach with his striking and grounding Adesanya to the matt using the physical advantages he held at UFC at UFC 259.

Since Alex Pereira’s introduction into the UFC, Adesanya has successfully defended his title on another two occasions. Firstly, he was able to best ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 in their rematch beating the Australian via decision. He would then go on to defend his title at UFC 276 where he shared the card with his next opponent. Adesanya was able to emerge victorious over Jared Cannonier whilst Pereira blasted his way into title contention with a violent knockout of Sean Strickland on the same night.

Before this Pereira introduced himself to the UFC fanbase with a TKO victory over Andreas Michailidis and UFC 268 before releasing a relentless bombardment on Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Ankalaev which saw him beat his fellow Brazilian via unanimous decision.

UFC 281 will be redemption territory for the current middleweight champion as his opponent will look to emerge 3-0 against the city-kickboxing title holder.

Will Israel Adesanya obtain the revenge he desires or will be looking at the new middleweight champion, Alex Pereira, at the end of the matchup?

Jon Jones has some advice for Alex Pereira, after he viewed his sparring session on social media.

Jones knows a thing or two about fighting in a high stake, championship bout. Jone became the youngest UFC champion ever, when he claimed the light heavyweight title at the age of 23. Jones beat MMA legend ‘Shogun’ Rua for the title, in just his eighth fight with the organization. Pereira on the other hand, is a legendary kickboxer, and already has his first UFC title shot in just his fourth fight with the UFC.

Pereira has already bested Israel Adesanya twice, in their days as kickboxers. Adesanya has not lost in the middleweight division, since he has joined the UFC. His reign of dominance has lasted years now, as he has beat the best of the division, multiple times now. Pereira still has a way to go, as he still has over 40 pounds to cut before the fight.

A picture of Pereira and light heavyweight fighter, Dominick Reyes, was circulating around social media. The picture of the two men, shows just how big of a fighter Pereira really is.

Jon Jones advice to Pereira was very short and simple

“Be careful not to show Izzy too much champ, I honestly don’t think it will matter though,” Jon Jones commented on a post of Pereira sparring. “It’s yours.” (Transcribed by MMAFighting)

It seems as if Jones is putting his money on Pereira, but there is really no surprise there. For years it was rumored that Adesanya and Jones may face each other in a light heavyweight championship fight. They had a rivalry via social media posts and jabs via interviews, but ultimately the fight never happened. If Adesanya never lost to Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight championship, we may have seen the fight already.

For now, we will have to “settle” for watching Adesanya and Pereira headline UFC 281, for the middleweight title.

Who do you think wins between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira? Would you like to see either man face Jon Jones in the future?

Israel Adesanya, Marvin Vettori

Marvin Vettori fired shots at the reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Coming off a win over Paulo Costa in his last outing in Oct. 2021, top-ranked middleweight contender Marvin Vettori will take on former division champion Robert Whittaker at UFC Paris on Sep. 3 at Accor Arena. Vettori has shared the octagon with Adesanya on two occasions. He came close to getting the nod on the judges’ scorecards in their first clash but ultimately lost the bout by split decision.

“The Italian Dream” earned a second chance at “Stylebender,” this time for the 185 lb gold at UFC 263 in June last year, after racking up a five-fight win streak. However, Vettori would drop the outing by unanimous decision.

Marvin Vettori bashed Israel Adesanya: ‘His time is over’

Marvin Vettori criticized Adesanya for not backing up his words. Given the recent string of underwhelming wins for the champ, Adesanya has come under fire from the community for overpromising and underdelivering. While he has retained the title multiple times, his point fighting style is not the most fan-friendly.

“His time is over,” Vettori said of Adesanya to Mirror Fighting. “I don’t even believe anybody really likes him. It’s over. His whole antics are bull****, he says one thing but never does it. He talks the talk but never walks the walk. I don’t want to look past this fight because it’s very important, but if things plan out the way I think they’re going to play out, you’re going to see me fight Pereira after this fight.”

Vettori believes Pereira will beat Adesanya

Many fans took to social media to express their discontentment with Adesanya for his lackluster performance in his latest title defense against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276. Following the win, Adesanya got paired up with a familiar foe in Alex Pereira, who already holds two wins including one knockout over “The Last Stylebender.” Vettori favors Pereira more and would like to face him for the title at some point.

“[Pereira] had a couple of extra years where he was just focusing on kickboxing, it might not seem a lot but once you just focus on one thing it’s a whole different story,” he added. “So I believe he has the advantage on the standup for sure, Adesanya’s not going to try and take him down, definitely not. I don’t mind this guy [Pereira], he’s quiet and brings it. There’s not much bull**** around him, I’d definitely prefer him as the champion than Adesanya.”
