UFC 125 Medical Suspensions were released today and it looks like Lightweight Champion, Frankie Edgar could be suspended until July 1st, making the belt unavailable for probably a 6 to 8 week training camp after that. Number one contender, Gray Maynard has also been medically suspended due to facial lacerations until February 16th with no contact until January 23rd. This all sounds very disappointing for the two lightweights, who would like a rematch as early as possible and even worse for Anthony Pettis, who may not get a chance to fight for maybe a year; however it has also been reported that Edgar could be cleared as early as February 16th. If we learned anything from Edgar’s comeback after the 1st round of his fight against Maynard and his decision to attend the post fight press conference rather than head to the hospital as he was expected to do, we will be seeing Edgar and Maynard back in the Octagon much sooner than any medical professional would probably suggest is a good idea.
