It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display today (Saturday, July 16th, 2016) came in the form of Bellator 158. Paul Daley and Douglas Lima threw down in the main event, and a whole bunch of great fights went down on the rest of the main card.

Douglas Lima (26-6) and Paul Daley (38-13-2) met in a welterweight bout in the main event. Former Bellator 170-pound champ Lima took home a clean sweep on the judges’ cards, scoring 30-27 on all three.

Weeks after Matt Mitrione (10-5) was nearly knocked out by Carl Seumanutafa in his Bellator debut, he fought Oli Thompson (17-8) heavyweight co-main event and knocked him out in the second round.

Touted prospect Michael Page (10-0) vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (21-17) faced off in a welterweight bout, with “Venum” knocking “Cyborg” with a highlight-reel knee.

UFC veteran Francis Carmont (24-11) vs. Lukasz Klinger (7-2) at light heavy, submitting him with a D’Arce choke in the first round, and James Gallagher (3-0) edged Mike Cutting (6-5) via decision in a featherweight bout to kick off the main card.

Weigh-ins for Saturday night’s Bellator 158 event from London went down earlier today and the card is now set.

Action begins in the U.S. on Spike at 9 p.m. ET.

The official weigh-ins for “Bellator 158: London” took place today in front of a packed house at the Café de Paris in Leicester Square and things got a bit testy when headliners Paul Daley (38-13-2) and Douglas Lima (26-6) faced off in front of boxing’s former undisputed heavyweight kingpin Lennox Lewis.

All competitors are now ready for action tomorrow at The O2, with the event airing on SPIKE UK from 9 – 10 p.m. BST and Channel 5 from 10 p.m. – midnight BST. Meanwhile in America, the card will air free on SPIKE at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The “Bellator 158: London” preliminary card begins at 5:30 pm BST and will stream live via Bellator.com and The Bellator Mobile App beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Matt Mitrione Cleared, Fight With Oli Thompson Set For Bellator 158

Coming off a knockout win in his Bellator debut last month, Matt Mitrione will indeed be allowed to fight in just over two weeks at Bellator 158 against Oli Thompson.

Mitrione (10-5) was medically cleared following his win and will meet Thompson in the co-main event of the card.

The headline fight features Paul Daley vs. Douglas Lima, while Michael Page takes on Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and Linton Vassell meets Francis Carmont in other Spike TV bouts.

The 37-year-old Mitrione knocked out out Carl Seumanutafa (10-6) in his promotional debut on June 24. A native of Indianapolis, “Meathead” joined the Bellator MMA team as one of the highest profile free agent acquisitions ever, carrying with him a talented athletic background that includes stints in the NFL with the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.

Mitrione is a 14-time UFC veteran that is known for ending fights early and violently, with nine of his ten victories coming by way of knockout and six of them ending in the first round.

Thompson will be making his Bellator MMA debut after 25 career fights among the heavyweight division’s elite. “The Spartan,” who solidified himself as “Britain’s Strongest Man” in 2006, is looking to build off an impressive 2015 campaign, in which he emerged victorious in all five of his bouts, including two first round knockouts.

Since making his professional debut in 2009, Thompson has fought under the direction of multiple regional promotions, and the UFC. At 36 years of age, he will undoubtedly make the most important appearance of his career when he takes center stage in front of thousands of hometown fans in the main event of “Bellator: London” on July 16.

The card airs on Spike TV via beginning at 9 p.m. ET July 16.

Following his come-from-behind knockout win at Bellator 157 Friday night, Matt Mitrione’s next opponent was revealed.

Mitrione, who scored a first round finish vs. Carl Seumanutafa in his Bellator debut, will take on Oli Thompson next month at Bellator 158.

The former UFC fighter and Ultimate Fighter competitor improved to 10-5 with the win and snapped a two-fight losing skid in the process. Mitrione had previously earned three first round finishes in 2014 before falling to Ben Rothwell and Travis Browne.

Thompson (17-8) is a native of England and carries a five-fight win streak into the bout. He has not competed since a December finish of Fernando Rodrigues, Jr.
