Bellator 78 Video Highlights, Lymon Good & Andrey Koreshkov Advance To Welterweight Finals

Friday night (October 26, 2012) saw the welterweight semifinal matches for Bellator’s Season Seven tournament. Advancing into the final for a chance at $100,000 and a shot at the welterweight title were Russian Andrey Koreshkov, who finished veteran Marius Zarmskis via first rount TKO, and Lymon Good, who handed Michael Tsarev his first career loss. The main card also saw Brian Rogers battle it out with Dominque Steele to a decision victory, and a first round submission win by Daniel Straus over Alvin Robinson. Bellator 78 went down at the Wright State University Nutter Center in Fairborn, Ohio.

The Bellator Season Seven welterweight tournament semi-final matches will go down tonight at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.

The action kicks off at 6pm EST (3pm PST) with the preliminary card featuring six matches, including the return of women’s flyweight champ Zoila Gurgel, who meets Casey Noland in a non-title flyweight matchup.

The main card has Lyman Good and Michael Tsarev as well as Marius Zarmskis vs. Andrey Koreshkov meeting in the welterweight semi-finals. Also on the main card are featherweights Alvin Robinson vs. Daniel Straus as well as middleweights Brian Rogers vs. Dominque Steele.

Paul Daley & Eduardo Dantas Removed From Next Weeks Bellator 79 Card

A couple of big names have been pulled from next weeks Bellator 79 event in welterweight Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley (30-12-2) and promotion bantamweight champ Eduardo ‘Du Du’ Dantas (14-3).

Daley, who was scheduled to face Kyle Baker, had issues with his work visa preventing him from making the trip from the United Kingdom to Canada. Stepping in for ‘Semtex’ will be Canadian standout Ryan ‘The Real Deal’ Ford, who debuted with Bellator last May with a second round TKO victory.

Baker will meet Ford on the nights main card in the opening MTV2 television bout.

Dantas was to defend his bantamweight title versus Season Six tourny winner Marcos Galvao. The two will meet sometime in the new year on Spike TV with the promotions impending change of broadcasters. There were apparent concerns over Dantas health after suffering a knockout loss last August to Tyson Nam in Brazil at a Shooto event.

Bellator 79 is expected to take place on November 2, 2012 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada. The main card will air on MTV2 with the prelim card streaming live at Spike.com.

The official weigh-ins for Bellator 78 took place this evening at the Wright Room at the Holiday Inn in Fairborn, Ohio.

Friday’s action is set to take place at the Nutter Center with the main card airing on MTV2 and the prelims set to stream live at Spike.com.

The Season Seven Tournament event features the welterweight semi-final bouts, pitting former champ Lyman Good (170.5) against Russian fighter Michael Tsarev (171), who debuted with the promotion in the opening quarterfinal round.

Also battling for a spot in the 170-lbs final are reigning DREAM title holder Marius Zaromskis (170.5) and undefeated Russian Andrey Koreshkov (170.5).
