LowKick MMA will be bringing you Bellator 270: Queally vs. Pitbull 2 results throughout the night (Sat. 30th. October 2021) live from the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Taking main event status on the promotion’s return to Dublin — the vacant lightweight title is up for grabs between Peter ‘The Showstopper’ Queally and division veteran, Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire — as the pair rematch following a May matchup earlier this year.

Initially matching up at Bellator 258, Waterford native, Queally managed to score an eventual second round TKO victory due to a doctor’s stoppage at the end of the frame, after he opened up a significant laceration on the hairline of Pitbull via a series of slashing elbows from the bottom.

The win came as Queally’s second straight under the promotion’s banner following an impressive rallying effort against common-foe, Ryan Scope back at the 3Arena in September of 2019.

For Brazilian veteran, Pitbull, the loss came as his second consecutively following a unanimous decision loss to Tofiq Musayev under the Rizin FF banner back in December 2019.

In the night’s co-headliner, a pivotal bantamweight matchup between streaking grappling standout, James ‘The Strabanimal’ Gallagher and the #3 ranked one-time title challenger, Patchy ‘No Love’ Mix.

Unbeaten in his last four on the bounce, Strabane native, Gallagher most recently headlined Bellator Euro Series 9 in October of last year in Milan, Italy — submitting Cal Ellenor with a first round rear-naked choke.

For New York native, Mix, the one-time bantamweight title challenger returned from his first career loss in May — stopping short-notice replacement, Albert Morales with a third round arm-triangle.

AJ McKee

Bellator featherweight champion AJ McKee is willing to put his money where his mouth is against top UFC featherweights.

McKee has called for a possible cross-promotion fight between himself and UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski or former champion Max Holloway since earning the belt. He won the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix by finishing Patricio Freire in one of the most stunning performances of 2021.

It isn’t a well-kept secret that UFC president Dana White has zero interest in any cross-promotion fights, especially with Bellator and McKee. But, McKee has a solution to top MMA featherweights who feel he isn’t on their level.

During a recent interview with The Schmo, McKee issued an open challenge to Volkanovski, Holloway, and others to come down to his gym and scrap for $1 Million.

AJ McKee Is Arguably The New Face Of Bellator MMA

“Come down to Body Shop,” McKee said. “We all know I just made a million. All you UFC fighters, PFL, wherever you at. If you feel you are the best 145-pounder in the world, I got a million dollars cash money. Come test it.”

“I’m the best 145-pound fighter – not only the best 145-pound fighter – I am the best fighter in the world,” McKee continued. “And if you don’t know, you will know momentarily.”

McKee has reason to be confident in his chances against the likes of Volkanovski and Holloway, as the undefeated featherweight has looked like a tough puzzle to solve in his career. Before his win over Freire, he earned big finishes over Darrion Caldwell and Derek Campos to continue his undefeated Bellator tenure.

For now, McKee awaits his first featherweight title defense, which has yet to be announced. He’s also dabbled in the possibility of moving up to lightweight eventually to try to become the latest two-weight world champion in MMA.

What do you think would happen in a fight between AJ McKee and top UFC stars such as Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski?

Cormier Calls For Fedor To Retire After “Fairytale” Ending In Moscow

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has called for the great Fedor Emelianenko to hang up his gloves following what he described as a “fairytale” ending for the Russian.

Fedor Emelianenko, Daniel Cormier

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier has called for the great Fedor Emelianenko to hang up his gloves following what he described as a “fairytale” ending for the Russian.

Emelianenko is widely regarded as the greatest heavyweight of all time and one of the best mixed martial artists to have ever competed in the sport. In 47 professional fights, “The Last Emperor” boasts 40 wins, 31 one of which came via stoppages, and defeated the likes of Heath Herring, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Mirko Cro Cop, Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski, and Frank Mir.

At the age of 45, the former PRIDE Heavyweight Champion is incredibly still competing. After almost two years away from action following his first-round TKO victory over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in 2019, Fedor headlined Bellator’s first Russian-held event on October 23.

In front of his home fans, Fedor faced the #3-ranked Bellator heavyweight Tim Johnson. In just under two minutes of the opening round, Johnson was sent to the canvas by a brutal combination. Whilst many had been sceptical about the Fedor we’d see in Moscow, the answer was provided in a vicious and powerful way.

Cormier Thinks “The Last Emperor” Should Leave On A High

One thing Fedor’s latest victory led to was increased criticism towards former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cormier. Ahead of Bellator 269, “DC” had suggested the 45-year-old would have been “average at best” if he’d have joined the UFC between 2009 and 2012. During that period, Fedor suffered losses at the hands of Fabricio Werdum, Antônio Silva, and Dan Henderson. His loss to “Vai Cavalo” brought to an end a 28-fight unbeaten streak that lasted almost a decade.

Having clarified his comments and reiterated the respect he has for Fedor, Cormier further praised “The Last Emperor” during an interaction with the media ahead of UFC 267. Addressing the comparisons fans often drew between the pair, the UFC color commentator described it as a “privilege” to be talked about in the same breath as Fedor.

“When I started fighting, Fedor was everywhere, he was the man. And he was the guy who didn’t look like a bodybuilder, he was fast, he could knock people out, and I took it as a privilege (to be compared to him). It meant a ton to me. To see this dude doing what he’s doing now is crazy. Fedor’s 45 years old, knocking people out.”

Talk of Fedor’s possible retirement was prevalent heading into Bellator 269. Despite the first-round triumph, Cormier believes it’s the right time for the veteran to call an end to his illustrious career. According to “DC,” securing a KO win in Moscow has provided a “fairytale” ending for the Russian legend.

“Fedor should stop now though, it’s like a fairytale… to go into Moscow and get a knockout in the way that he did. Just walk away man. Because otherwise the shit’s gonna end bad. You’ll be like everyone else; end up on your back and that’ll be like the story that we have seen a thousand times with great champions. Right now’s the time for that storybook ending. I just don’t know if these great champions can avoid that pull that tells them they can do it again and be who they were back in the day.”

Despite his age, Fedor isn’t set on calling it quits just yet. In the aftermath of his 40th professional victory, the GOAT contender said his future was yet to be decided, and wouldn’t be until he’d had conversations with his family and Bellator kingpin Scott Coker.

Do you agree with Daniel Cormier? Should Fedor Emelianenko retire off the back of his Bellator 269 victory?

Dana White Fires Back At Fedor Emelianenko, Doesn’t See Him Competing In UFC

Dana White‘s opinion about Fedor Emelianenko hasn’t changed one bit.

Emelianenko recently knocked out Tim Johnson at Bellator 269 earlier this month in an event that took place in Moscow, Russia. In the buildup to the event, Emelianenko commented on White:

“Money means everything to him,” Emelianenko told Russian outlet TASS. “He has no respect towards fighters, no respect for any human being. Only money and that’s all.”

At the UFC 267 post-fight press conference last night, White — who has made his opinion clear over the years on what he thinks of the Russian — got to address those comments when asked if his mind had changed on Emelianenko following his win over Johnson.

“Should I not see him as overrated because he knocked out Tim Johnson?” White responded (via Middle Easy). “I don’t think one way or another about it.”

“I saw last week or a couple weeks ago where Fedor said, ‘this guy is all about money’ or whatever. First of all, I don’t even know Fedor. Fedor doesn’t know me. We met one time. His statement was I was all about money — he should have been more about money when we made you that offer wherever the f*ck we were, whatever island that we were on, and he still wouldn’t be fighting at 45 years old.”

White: We Offered Fedor A Deal

White was then asked if there was ever a possibility of Emelianenko competing in the UFC at least once.

White, who tried to make a fight between Emelianenko and Brock Lesnar at one point, had this to say in response:

“You know I offered him a deal that he still must lay in bed everything and bum out about,” White said. “We offered him a deal. We tried to do a deal with Fedor. Apparently Fedor doesn’t like me. So I don’t see it happening.”

Scott Coker, Glover Teixeira

Bellator president Scott Coker reacted to Glover Teixeira’s UFC 267 victory by immediately sharing which promotion he thinks has the world’s best light heavyweight.

As the head man of Bellator MMA, Coker hasn’t shied away from touting his talent when discussing the best fighters in the world. To him, Nemkov and his light heavyweight division is no exception.

In a Twitter reply to an MMA Junkie editorial, Coker was blunt about who he thinks has the best light heavyweight right now mere minutes following Glover Teixeira’s UFC 267 victory.

“I’ve never felt more confident in this,” Coker tweeted in response to the question ‘Does Bellator have the best light heavyweight in the world?’.

Current Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Vadim Nemkov will face former UFC standout Corey Anderson in the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix Final at a later date, after defeating Anglickas in the semifinals.

Nemkov, who has been known for his knockout power on the feet combined with a relentless grappling attack, hasn’t slowed down since earning the belt. Especially with the parody in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, Bellator may have the more sure-thing when it comes to comparing 205-pound MMA champions.

Nemkov, along with featherweight champion AJ McKee, has the opportunity to assert himself as the face of Bellator. While he’ll face a tough test in Anderson, he hasn’t shown many weaknesses against the best in the division.

Do you agree with Scott Coker that Bellator has the best light heavyweight division?
