Nik Lentz revealed that both him and his wife have been subject to online harassment from BJ Penn.

It was recently revealed that Lentz and Penn would be competing against each other sometime later this year. Both fighters have beef with each other, but many expected the latter to have retired by now, especially considering his current losing streak.

However, Lentz revealed how the fight came about from his perspective, detailing how Penn usually talks trash to him on Instagram every now and then:

“Well, you know BJ comes on my Instagram every couple of months or something talking crap,” Lentz said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “So I noticed the other day he came on there, talking about how he would see me soon or something. I thought it was a joke or something… I just assumed I was pretty much done with him. And then the UFC reached out to me and asked if I wanted to fight him.“

When asked further about Penn talking trash to him, Lentz went into detail:

“Non-stop,” he explained. “Every couple of months, he would send me direct messages, threatening me, threatening my family. The guy’s a wack job. He’s been allowed to just be this bad person his entire life because he’s good at something… He comes on my Instagram all the time. When I don’t respond to him, he goes to my wife’s Instagram to say ‘hey, tell your husband to respond to me on my Instagram.’”

Lentz added that him and Penn were supposed to fight in the past only for the latter to never sign a contract. However, things have changed this time, especially as it seems to be his last fight in the UFC:

“I don’t know why all of a sudden he’s decided, maybe he came down off some coke binge and he decided now’s the time we’re gonna actually accept it,” he added. “No fight is scheduled yet, I’ve accepted the fight. I guess he’s verbally accepted it as well. I’m just waiting on the date from the UFC.”

The combat sports community was shocked when it was announced that the UFC gave BJ Penn another fight.

Penn will settle his longtime rivalry with Nick Lentz inside the Octagon at a date and location yet to be determined. The legendary Hawaiian is on a seven-fight losing streak, and hasn’t won since 2010 when he knocked out Matt Hughes in 21 seconds at UFC 123. UFC President Dana White was asked about the situation during last night’s (Sat. July 27, 2019) UFC 240 pay-per-view (PPV) post-fight press conference.

In regards to why White granted Penn another bout, he admitted the fight was agreed upon on one condition only. That it be Penn’s final in the UFC – win, lose, or draw:

“Cause he terrorized me for, freaking a week, and wouldn’t stop texting me for three days straight,” White said. “He talked me into it. We have a deal now. Win, lose, or draw, this is BJ Penn’s last fight. Because I won’t give him another fight. It’s very clear between us now that there won’t be another fight no matter what.”

When asked about the possibility that Penn take a fight somewhere else after his bout with Lentz, White said there’s nothing he can do to control such a decision:

“There’s nothing I can do about that,” White said. “I’ve voiced my concerns, I’ve known BJ Penn since he was, like, 19-years-old. You know, BJ is gonna do what BJ wants to do. I’ve had a very crazy relationship with him and his family for the last 20 years, and BJ walked me through a million reasons why he needs this fight and why he has to have it.

“He talked me into it, and, you guys know me, when I’m in, I’m in and I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do. So, we’re doing this. He has promised me; win, lose, or draw, he will retire after this fight. We’ll see if he keeps his promise. He won’t fight here though. That I guarantee you. We won’t be sitting here doing this again. That I promise you.”

Penn’s last bout resulted in a decision defeat to Clay Guida at UFC 237 after 15 minutes. As for Lentz, he recently had a two-fight win streak snapped by Charles Oliveira. Lentz was finished in the second round at UFC Rochester.

Chael Sonnen is getting his wish. According to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, UFC Hall Of Famer BJ Penn and Nik Lentz have verbally agreed to fight one another, per UFC President Dana White. A date and location have not yet been determined:

“BREAKING: Per @danawhite, BJ Penn will return to the octagon. He will be facing Nik Lentz, both sides have verbally agreed. Date and location TBD.”

Penn is currently on a seven-fight losing streak. He has not won a fight since November of 2010 when he knocked out Matt Hughes in 21 seconds at UFC 123. In his last outing, the 40-year-old was outclassed by Clay Guida over the course of three rounds at UFC 237.

Dana White noted he didn’t want to book Penn in fights anymore, but it appears that is no longer the case. He’ll take on Lentz, who recently had a two-fight win streak snapped by Charles Oliveira. “The Carny” was stopped in the second round via TKO at UFC Rochester.

This matchup isn’t without a history, as Lentz and Penn have exchanged barbs with one another over the years. Now they’ll finally get the opportunity to settle their differences inside the Octagon.

It looks like UFC legend BJ Penn is in hot water once again.

TMZ Sports published a video on Tuesday showing the former two-weight champion allegedly involved in a street fight with a strip club bouncer in Honolulu. The incident occurred outside Club Femme Nu with the owner telling TMZ Penn was escorted out at midnight because he was acting “very drunk.”

Multiple witnesses saw the incident, with one even attempting to attack Penn to stop him, only to be fended off by others. Police later arrived with several squad cars but Penn had already left the premises by then.

The incident comes after the Hawaiian’s wife alleged earlier this year she was a victim of physical and sexual abuse at the hands of Penn. Penn has also been accused of threatening a farmer with a machete.

In the Octagon, things haven’t gone well for the 40-year-old either as he is currently on the longest losing streak in UFC history with seven straight losses. He was most recently outpointed by Clay Guida at UFC 237 last month.

Many have called for him to retire and UFC president Dana White seems to be in agreement as well.
