AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – On the heels of BJ Penn‘s quick and decisive win over Matt Hughes at UFC 123 on Saturday night, UFC president Dana White said he’s already picked Penn’s next opponent.

After the post-fight press conference, White told a small group of reporters that Penn will stay at welterweight and will next face Jon Fitch at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia, on February 26.

“I already made the fight,” White said. “Him and Fitch in Sydney.”

A knee injury has forced lightweight Darren Elkins out of of his scheduled bout at UFC 123 next week and he will be replaced by fellow Midwest fighter Mike Lullo.

Elkins (12-2, 1-1 UFC) was set to meet UFC newcomer Edson Barboza on the pay-per-view event at The Palace in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Nov. 20. But Elkins, who fights out of the Duneland Vale Tudo camp in Valparaiso, Ind., announced Wednesday on his Facebook page that he had to pull out of the fight. Sources close to his camp told MMA Fighting that Elkins injured his knee working on takedowns.

Former UFC champions Matt Hughes and BJ Penn have agreed to meet for the third time, according to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, who learned of the matchup from sources close to the fight. The bout, which will take place at welterweight, will be at UFC 123 at The Palace in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills, Mich.

Hughes also posted at his official website that he and UFC president Dana White had discussed him fighting on the card, though he made no mention of an opponent.
