Still 13 weeks out from his rematch with BJ Penn at UFC 132, Jon Fitch has pulled out of the fight due to a training injury.

Sources close to the UFC confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday. Word of Fitch’s withdrawal from the bout was first reported by MMA Weekly.

There is no word yet on a possible replacement for Fitch. The fight was expected to determine the top contender for the UFC welterweight title currently held by Georges St-Pierre.

BJ Penn and Jon FitchTheir draw in the main event of UFC 127 not yet a month old, BJ Penn and Jon Fitch have verbally agreed to a rematch at UFC 132 in July.

The UFC, continuing its recent trend of making fight announcements itself online and through social media, made the announcement at UFC.com early Thursday. Along with the Penn-Fitch fight, the UFC said lightweights Evan Dunham and George Sotiropoulos will square off.

Though the promotion hasn’t yet made the card official, UFC 132 is expected to take place in Las Vegas on July 2 as the company’s traditional Independence Day weekend card.

On the eve of the Academy Awards, the UFC is showing “The Social Network” some love.

For UFC 127 in Sydney, which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. Eastern Saturday in the States with the time difference, the promotion is returning to Facebook, as well as the Ion Network, for a total of five preliminary card fights. The formation of Facebook is the crux of “The Social Network,” one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2010 – and nominated for eight Oscars on Sunday.

The UFC announced on its Facebook fan page Monday that bouts between Jason Reinhardt and Tiequan Zhang and Tom Blackledge and Anthony Perosh will stream live at Facebook. Fans must “like” the UFC on Facebook to gain access to the prelims at the site. The UFC currently has nearly 4.8 million fans at the social networking giant.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – On the heels of BJ Penn‘s quick and decisive win over Matt Hughes at UFC 123 on Saturday night, UFC president Dana White said he’s already picked Penn’s next opponent.

After the post-fight press conference, White told a small group of reporters that Penn will stay at welterweight and will next face Jon Fitch at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia, on February 26.

“I already made the fight,” White said. “Him and Fitch in Sydney.”

Kenny Florian has agreed to face Evan Dunham, likely at UFC 127 on Feb. 5, Florian announced on Thursday night’s edition of ESPN’s MMA Live.

The bout will feature two highly ranked lightweights seeking to avoid two-fight losing streaks.

Florian came out on the wrong side of a judges decision to Gray Maynard in a recent No. 1 contenders fight at UFC 118, while Dunham lost in a very controversial split decision to former champ Sean Sherk at UFC 119 in September.
