Paige VanZant

UFC fighter turned BKFC brawler Paige VanZant isn’t putting her combat sports career to bed just yet.

After six years and nine fights under the UFC banner, ’12 Gauge’ walked away from the promotion in search of a more lucrative offer despite her middling 5-4 record inside the Octagon. VanZant ended up getting exactly that, landing a lucrative offer with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship shortly after her departure from the Las Vegas-based promotion.

More than three years after signing on the dotted line with BKFC, she is still yet to earn her first victory inside the squared circle.

Dropping her first two fights against Britain Hart and former UFC foe Rachael Ostovich, Paige VanZant was determined to get that elusive W in bare-knuckle brawling. ’12 Gauge’ booked herself a fight with Charisa Sigala in August 2022, but days before she was set to step inside the ring, the BKFC inexplicably pulled the plug on the matchup.

BKFC founder David Feldman offered little explanation for the move, but many suspected the promotion’s ticket sales in London, where the event was emanating from, were lower than anticipated forcing them to make some cost-cutting moves ahead of fight night.

Taking to social media, Paige VanZant revealed that she was left depressed after BKFC informed her of the sudden cancellation.

“So, of course, the last fight that I was supposed to have for BKFC, the fight got pulled the week of the fight,” VanZant explained on Instagram. “I had cut all my weight, I was so excited to fight, I got mega depressed.”

“So, I took a little bit of time off and I’m back in the gym, training 100 percent now. And I feel like I’m in a really good place, where I’m training for fun and to get better. Not just to prepare for a fight” (h/t MMA Fighting).

Paige VanZant Hopes to Fight Again in the BKFC Squared Circle

With VanZant making money hand over fist online via social media and OnlyFans, many have questioned whether or not she’ll ever return to the ring.

“I want to continue, just kind of doing this, what I’m doing right now,” VanZant said. “Training to have fun, to get better and learn and then once I feel, like I’m desperate to fight — which I do really want to — but once I feel like I’m mentally and physically prepared, then I’m going to take a fight.

“I don’t want to just take a fight because I want to. I want to really feel it in my body, that I’m ready. So, it’s coming though. I am working really hard.”

With his million-dollar investment in Paige VanZant producing lackluster results thus far, BKFC President David Feldman is willing to give ’12 Gauge’ one more shot.

“I think she wants one more crack at it,” Feldman told MMA Fighting in May. “I know that I want to give her one more crack at it, so I think we’re going to have at least one more run there.”

Britain Hart

BKFC star Britain Hart continued her impressive run with the promotion on Friday night, earning yet another dominant win inside the squared circle.

Hart, who has won eight of her last nine fights, scored her fourth-straight win in the BKFC 51 headliner inside the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. Stepping into the ring for a clash with UK standout Melanie Shah, Hart retained the BKFC strawweight championship with a dominant performance that scored her a decisive unanimous decision victory.

Throughout the contest, Shah put her toughness on display, but she was no match for Britain Hart who lit up the Brit during the brutal 10-minute contest. Things nearly came to an end in the fifth round when Hart turned up the heat and delivered a barrage of strikes that sent one of Shah’s teeth flying across the ring. Shah managed to survive the onslaught but lost every round according to the judges’ scorecards.

Britain Hart first burst onto the BKFC after handing Paige VanZant a loss in the former UFC standout’s promotional debut in 2021. She has since added wins over Pearl Gonzalez, ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings, and Charisa Sigala. Following her five-round destruction of Melanie Shah, Hart will head to Pattaya, Thailand for a showdown with Chisakan Ariphipat at BKFC Thailand 5 on November 4.

The event will be headlined by the long-awaited superfight between Muay Thai icons Buakaw Banchamek and Saenchai Saenpong.

Former UFC welterweight contender turned bare-knuckle fighter, Mike Perry, has claimed he would “gladly” retire former promotional lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez under the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) banner, in his return to the promotion.

Perry, a former welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, has so far enjoyed an impressive three-fight undefeated run since landing in the David Feldman-led BKFC promotion, most recently headlining an April card in Colorado.

And moving to 3-0 in bare knuckle fighting, Michigan striker, Perry defeated former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold – forcing him into a second round retirement after fracturing the Californian’s tooth, landing a subsequent TKO victory.

Also appearing on that card, former UFC lightweight champion, Alvarez landed a split decision win over former UFC featherweight championship challenger, Chad Mendes in a co-main event slot – in his first venture back to combat sports since departing the Chatri Sityodtong-led ONE Championship

Mike Perry calls for bare knuckle fight with Sean Strickland show us the money UFC

Taking in last night’s UFC Vegas 76 headliner between Sean Strickland, and Abusupiyan Magomedov – former promotional welterweight contender, Mike Perry has called for organizational president, Dana White to sanction a bare knuckle fight between himself and the polarizing, Strickland.

Perry, a former welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, has so far enjoyed a stunning three-fight promotional-perfect run with the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) since landing with the David Feldman-led promotion last year.

Debuting with a unanimous decision win over The Ultimate Fighter alum, Julian Lane, the surging Flint native, Mike Perry would then land an overtime decision win over former Bellator MMA welterweight title challenger, Michael Page in a summer event in London.

And earlier this year, Mike Perry turned in a hugely-impressive win over former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, forcing a second round TKO win over the Santa Cruz native in Broomfield, Colorado.

Mike Perry suggests bare knuckle fight with Sean Strickland

And despite noting his interest in a potential future fight with former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor following a face-off with the Dubliner in the ring following his April return, Perry appears to have his interested piqued by a fight with UFC middleweight contender, Strickland.

“Me and Sean Strickland should bare knuckle box,” Mike Perry tweeted. “Show us the money and make it happen @danawhite @bareknucklefc”

Turning in his second consecutive victory at UFC Vegas 76 last night with his rallying second round TKO win over Magomedov, Strickland had previously landed a unanimous decision win over Nassourdine Imavov in January at the light heavyweight limit – calling for a title showdown with Israel Adesanya since.

“F*ck, man, it just needs to happen, you guys,” Sean Strickland told assembled media following UFC Vegas 76. “We know Izzy (Israel Adesanya) is on f*cking repeat, dude. They [the UFC] try to bring Abus – this is what the UFC said, ‘Man, the middleweight division is stagnant. Let’s get Abus in here. He might beat Sean.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah right, motherf*cker. Wait until you see what happens.’ Every time they’ve tried to bring new blood – the Frenchie (Nassourdine Imavov) I fought before, I sent him home. This guy, I sent him back. Every time they try to bring new blood in, I send them back. Give me the f*cking title. I earned it.”

“The one before that, I fought the other guy they were trying to [push], their last phenom that they were trying to [push],” Sean Strickland explained. “I took that guy on three-day f*cking notice. I took him on in a five round war and won every f*cking round. I paid my dues. I’ve f*cking paid my fues. Give me that sh*t.”

Joe Rogan describes rumored BKFC fight between Conor McGregor, Mike Perry as ‘F*cking bananas’

Joe Rogan describes BKFC fight Mike Perry and Conor McGregor as f*cking bananas

With the duo facing off inside the ring at a BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) event back in April, UFC color-commentator, Joe Rogan has claimed a potential future fight between promotional-perfect puncher, Mike Perry, and former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor as “f*cking bananas”.

Perry, a former welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, departed the promotion back in 2021, before linking up with the David Feldman-led BKFC the following year.

So far boasting an undefeated 3-0 record in the organization, Perry racked up a pair of consecutive decision wins over The Ultimate Fighter alum, Julian Lane, before then defeating former Bellator MMA welterweight title challenger, Michael Page in London last year.

Returning this year in Broomfield, Colorado, Perry landed an eventual TKO retirement win over former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold in a bloody war for as long at it lasted.

Mike Perry faced off with Conor McGregor in the ring earlier this year

Surprisingly, Perry was met in the ring by Conor McGregor, who was sporting a BKFC championship belt, and reflected on the encounter during a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.

“He (Conor McGregor) was moving all over the place and I stood my ground,” Mike Perry said. “I stood so still and I couldn’t be wavered or moved. He was moving all over the place. I mean, that says that he was free in that moment to do so, obviously. But, it was me respectfully calling him out, which shows the professional in martial arts that I have been for so many years.”

“How do you call a man out in a sport that he has a family and you guys want to hurt each other and they can honor it in a fair way and promote it to be entertaining?” Mike Perry asked.

As far as Rogan is concerned, however, a future fight between McGregor and Perry under the BKFC banner, albeit unlikely, would be staggering.

“If he (Conor McGregor) decided to do that – if somehow or another they [the UFC] gave him the green light to do that, I can’t imagine how that could ever happen, but if it did – if that happened in a bare knuckle fight, that would be f*cking bananas,” Joe Rogan said.”

“He’s a very good kicker, he can do everything, but if somehow or another he agreed to fight bare knuckle, I mean, Jesus Christ, you know how big that would be?” Rogan explained. “That would be wild. If they did that in bare knuckle, it would be a million pay-per-view buys at least – probably more.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Perry, an alum of the UFC, has so far enjoyed a promotional-perfect stint since moving to the David Feldman-led Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship last year, most recently landing an eventual second round TKO win over former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold in April in Broomfield, Colorado.

A 15-fight veteran under the banner of the Dana White-led, UFC, Mike Perry had debuted in bare knuckle fighting with a unanimous decision win over Julian Lane – before securing a decision victory against Bellator MMA welterweight title challenger, Michael Page in London back in August of last year.

Fans question bizarre video shared by former UFC welterweight, Mike Perry

However, fans have reacted to Mike Perry’s latest post on his official social media, which shows the Flint, Michigan native sniffing and putting a pair of women’s underwear in his mouth, before then wearing them on his head.

Exiting the UFC back in April of 2021, Perry, who boasts a 14-8 professional mixed martial arts record, including 11 separate knockout triumphs, most recently suffered a unanimous decision loss to recent feature, Daniel Rodriguez.

In his most recent professional win in the sport, Perry defeated fellow UFC alum, Mickey Gall – adding to a list of victories over the likes of Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger, Alex Oliveira, and Paul Felder to name a few.

Weighing up his future in BKFC following his April stoppage win over Rockhold, Perry – who was joined in the ring by former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor, has since campaigned for a fight with the Crumlin counter-striker later this year
