Returning to the winner’s enclosure tonight in his lightweight clash with veteran future Hall of Fame inductee, Jim Miller — Bobby Green turned in a bloody battering of the New Jersey native in the pair’s preliminary card clash at UFC 300, landing a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-25, 29-26) win over the veteran.

Green, a veteran lightweight contender under the promotion’s banner, returned tonight for the first time since he suffered a brutal KO loss to fellow UFC 300 feature, Jalin Turner — snapping his winning run to boot.

And meeting Miller tonight, San Bernardino native, Bobby Green was tasked with knocking back the fan-favorite veteran, who had turned in wins over both Mac Danzig, and Takanori Gomi and UFC 100 back in 2009, and UFC 200 back in 2016, respectively.

Emerging beyond the first round despite a decent wobble in the frame, Green bloodied Miller in the second and third frame almost past recognition, racking up himself points on one-sided scorecards.

With the added incentive of $300,000 bonuses on the line tonight for UFC 300, Green urged MIller to throw caution to the wind in the final minute of the fight, wobbling him badly before swamring and dominating to the final buzzer.

Following his victory, Green called for a July return to the Octagon at a potential UFC 304 event in Manchester, England — eyeing a long-anticipated grudge fight against polarizing grappler, Paddy Pimblett.

Bobby Green distracted by Mackenzie Dern

We were all thinking it, but Bobby Green was the one who said it.

On Saturday night, February 17, the UFC returns to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California for UFC 298. In the main event of the evening, featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski will put his belt on the line for the sixth time when he meets undefeated challenger Ilia Topuria.

Fans will also be treated to an electrifying co-main event when one-time title challenger Paulo Costa makes his long-awaited comeback against former middleweight world champion Robert Whittaker.

But first, all 24 fighters had to step on the scale during Friday morning’s official weigh-in ceremony. Joining regulars Dan Hellie, Laura Sanko, and Michael Bisping on the broadcast was top-15 ranked lightweight contender Bobby Green, who found himself a bit distracted when strawweight standout Mackenzie Dern made her way to the scale.

Sheeeeesh,” Green uttered as Dern stepped onto the stage looking… Fit.

Dern will look to bounce back following a lackluster performance against former ex-champ Jéssica Andrade at UFC 295 in November. The Brazilian-American beauty has alternated wins and losses in her last five outings, earning wins over Tecia Torres and Angela Hill while falling to Marina Rodriguez, Yan Xiaonon, and the aforementioned Andrade.

Standing in Mackenzie Dern’s way of a return to the win column is Amanda Lemos. ‘Amandinha’ will be competing for the first time since coming up short in her first UFC title opportunity against reigning strawweight queen Zhang Weili in August.

UFC Austin

UFC Austin delivered some of the biggest knockouts of 2023. Unfortunately, that also means that a lot of medical suspensions were handed out.

Following last weekend’s return to The Lone Star State, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) slapped a dozen fighters on the night with a six-month month medical suspension. Most notably, Bobby Green, Beneil Dariush, and Arman Tsarukyan were all given 180 days unless medically cleared.

Tsarukyan walked away the winner in the UFC Austin headliner, scoring a 64-second knockout against Dariush to establish himself as the next legitimate contender in the light heavyweight division.

Bobby Green found himself on the wrong side of a first-round finish at UFC Austin, suffering a brutal beating at the hands of rising 155’er Jalin Turner.

The referee overseeing the contest, Kerry Hatley, was heavily criticized for allowing the fight to go on entirely too long. UFC CEO Dana White called it one of the worst stoppages he had ever seen. Michael Bisping, who was on call for the event, agreed.

You can see a full list of the UFC Austin medical suspensions below:

  • Arman Tsarukyan: Suspended a minimum of 30 days and also suspended 180 days unless medically cleared.
