Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) president David Feldman certainly isn’t opposed to Conor McGregor attending BKFC 6. BKFC 6 will take place this Saturday night (June 22). Headlining the card will be a grudge match between former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Artem Lobov. The action will be held […]

If Conor McGregor wants to attend this weekend’s bare-knuckle boxing fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov, Bare-Knuckle FC president David Feldman welcomes the Irishman.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Feldman said he doesn’t know for sure if the UFC star will be appearing, but based off what he has heard so far, he’d bet that “The Notorious” will be there:
“They won’t give confirmation yet but if I’m a betting man, I’m betting he’s coming,” Feldman said. “They’re not going to give confirmation and if they are, they’re not going to tell us so we put it out there ‘hey Conor McGregor’s coming to the fight’ and then he’s mobbed.
“So it’s not going to happen like that but from the conversations I’m having, if I was going to bet on it, he’ll be there but who knows.”
The bad blood between Malignaggi and the McGregor camp is very real. Malignaggi, a former boxing world champion, joined McGregor’s training camp as a sparring partner ahead of his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather in 2017. However, McGregor leaked footage and images of his sparring session with Malignaggi that favored the Irishman.
Perhaps the tipping point was the footage that showed what looked like McGregor knocking Malignaggi down. Malignaggi claims he fell as a result of a trip. The former world champion has held a grudge over the incident ever since. He has found his way into a bare-knuckle boxing fight against McGregor’s good friend and training partner, Lobov.
Malignaggi has vowed to hospitalize “The Russian Hammer” and put him in a coma. “The Magic Man” is likely angling for a future showdown with “The Notorious One” himself down the line. Feldman understands the bad blood between these two sides runs very deep, which is why security will be beefed up come this weekend for the press conference and weigh-ins:
“We’re going to have ample security at the press conference and the weigh-ins,” Feldman said. “They’re staying at different hotels so that’s not going to be an issue but definitely as the press conference and weigh-in where we know they will see each other.
“I don’t think if they see each other, they’re going to just jump in but when they get in each other’s face and they’re that close and then they start talking, that’s when the problems arise. So we’re definitely going to have ample security, more than ample security and I don’t see anything arising. I don’t think either of them want to blow the opportunity for this event and they don’t want to blow their pay either.”

UFC President Dana White is serious about getting into the boxing game.
White has teased some big news coming for Zuffa Boxing, as he plans on getting into the boxing promotion game in the near future. Speaking at a media scrum yesterday (Tues. June 19, 2019) ahead of the Tuesday Night Contender Series, White revealed he plans on putting on an amateur boxing show from the new UFC Apex. He noted that his son will compete on the card as well:
“I’m working on an amateur fight right now,” White admitted. “I’m gonna do an amateur boxing event here in the next couple of months. Workout out all the details right now, and gonna try and bring in some of the best amateur fighters in the world, and my son. Yeah, my son has been boxing. But he’s gonna fight. He fought last year in Boston and he’s gonna fight here at the Apex this summer.”
When asked how he feels, as a parent, about his son boxing, the UFC boss said he loves it and encourages his children to do what they love:
“I love it,” White said. “Listen, anybody that’s ever been involved in fighting will tell you all the great things that it’s done for you. There’s some very sad stories in the fight game too, but there’s sad stories in every game. There’s sad stories in baseball, there’s sad stories in football, but I would never deny my kids what they love to do.
“My oldest son loves to play football. What’s more dangerous than football? Nothing. Football is crazy dangerous. But he loves it. He’s passionate about it. It gets him out of bed in the morning, man. And that’s what life is really all about.”
White was then asked why he thinks his son chose to box as opposed to competing in mixed martial arts (MMA), the sport he himself promotes better than anyone else in the world. He responded by noting he will support his children in anything they do, and won’t push something on them just because he himself likes it:
“I don’t know, but I’m not that dad,” White said. “Listen, if they told me they wanted to finger paint, I’m supporting them. I’m behind them and I’m being the biggest finger painting fan every. So, it’s totally up to them, I’m just here to support.”
As for the amateur boxing event as a whole and White’s goal for the show at the Apex, White wants to give the best amateur prospects in the world a platform to showcase their skills. Ideally, the show would air on Fight Pass and give the athletes more exposure than they’ve ever had in their careers:
“I think that right now, where my head is, I want to be the guy that showcases the talent,” White said. “I want to bring these talented guys – in a perfect world, not saying that I can pull this off, we bring in all the top guys in the country, put on some fights with them, I promote it, I air it on Fight Pass, and get these guys more exposure than they’ve ever had.”

Boxing fans might not have to wait too long to see Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder rematch after all.
Wilder recently claimed that the pair had agreed to terms on an early 2020 rematch. However, speaking to NBC Sports recently, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum noted that Tyson Fury might go ahead and face “The Bronze Bomber” next. Initially, the plan was for Fury to have at least one or two more fights in October or September before fighting Wilder in early 2020 (via Daily Mail UK):
“I think we really have to look at the situation. It will be up to ESPN and FOX. Maybe we go right to the fight now,” Arum said. “I felt I needed two fights with Tyson Fury in order to really have the public take a look at him and realize what a phenomenal athlete and entertainer he is.
“But because ESPN did such a magnificent job in helping us promote this last fight with Schwarz, maybe we can go right now into a Wilder fight but that would depend again on how the other side feels about it.
“Maybe I think we should we be talking about it, stop fooling around with interim fights. We saw with the Joshua vs Ruiz fight that anything can happen.”
Fury comes off a big TKO victory over the now formerly-undefeated German prospect Tom Schwarz. “The Gypsy King” put the German away in the second round with a nasty barrage of shots. Now, he’s ready to reclaim heavyweight gold, and has Wilder’s WBC title in his sights first.
However, Wilder must first get through Luis Ortiz, a former foe who came the closest to becoming the first man to ever finish the American knockout artist inside the ring. Wilder will defend his title against Ortiz in a bout that has yet to receive a date or location.
