Heavyweight boxer Kash Ali suffered his first loss this weekend, and it came by the strangest of circumstances.

Ali met former sparring partner David Price at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena this weekend. Price was winning on the scorecards when he landed a big right hand in the fifth round. Ali then tackled Price to the mat and when he did, bit him on the chest.

Referee Mark Lyson had already docked Ali a point for hitting the back of Price’s head earlier in the fight. When he bit Price, Lyson immediately disqualified Ali. This wasn’t the first alleged incident, either, as Price had accused Ali of biting him before. The DQ gave the previously 15-0 his first defeat.

Watch the strange scene via DAZN on Twitter here:

Price had quite the bite mark, too, as seen in this photo via Sky Sports:

After the loss, Ali asked Price for a rematch. But Price told Sky Sports he wasn’t understandably having it with an ‘animal’ like Ali:

“He said ‘let’s do a rematch’ but I don’t want to share the ring with an animal like that.”

Former world champion Tony Bellew also offered this harsh assessment of the situation:

“He shouldn’t be allowed back in a boxing ring again. He is a disgrace for what he’s done. Biting a man on the floor? There’s not many things lower.”

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is dissapointed his rematch with Tyson Fury didn’t materialize.

“The Bronze Bomber” seems to have figured out why that fight isn’t taking place next for him. Speaking to the Richard Poxon podcast, Wilder said the Englishman is avoiding a rematch with him because “The Gypsy King” realizes he’s a health risk (via Boxing Scene):

“We talked and he said he wanted the fight. It happened just like that. I didn’t have to fight Fury, but I wanted to fight the best. Don’t doubt me when I want to close all conversations of doubt,” Wilder said.

“I wanted to give it to the fans, live and in action. To prove to you I am the best. I don’t see nothing wrong with that. People who don’t want to see that are not a fan of boxing, you’re just here to cause chaos.

“I can’t control these guys and the path they choose in life. They going to choose what’s best for them and their career. I’m a risk, a high-risk. I’m a massive risk to your health and your career.

“When they stalled for a whole week with the contract in front of them, I knew something was up. My manager Shelly was like, ‘they haven’t answered the phone. Maybe they’ll call back’. With Shelly and (Frank) Warren being friends, we knew something was up when he wasn’t answering his phone calls. But it’s all good.”

Wilder and Fury fought to a split draw back in December after putting on a tremendous heavyweight contest. Many believe Fury outboxed the American powerhouse, however, the WBC champ scored the only two knockdowns of the fight.

An immediate rematch was initially being worked on, but with Fury signing on with ESPN and Top Rank Boxing, and Wilder inking a three-fight deal with Showtime, the contest seems unlikely.
