Paulie Malignaggi claims the line can’t be crossed with Artem Lobov anymore because it was already crossed a while ago.

Malignaggi and Lobov collide in a bare-knuckled grudge match at Bare Knuckle FC (BKFC) 6 on June 22 in Tampa, Florida, and things have been heating up in the buildup. The former boxing champion notably spat at Lobov during a recent press conference as well as bonking him on the head with a microphone.

At a BKFC media event last month, Malignaggi also slapped the former UFC featherweight. However, he has no regrets about all the things he has done and went one extreme step further:

“I don’t regret it because the line was crossed a long time ago,” Malignaggi said in a recent interview (via MMA Mania). “You can’t take spitting or anything else out of context. This line was crossed two years ago. Once you cross the line, you can’t set a new line.

“Not only do I not regret it, if his mother was at the press conference, I would have spit on her too. There’s no reason to regret anything. I’m ashamed I couldn’t do more. Once you cross that line with me, we can just go.”

Malignaggi’s beef with Lobov stems from his issues with the latter’s training partner and friend, Conor McGregor. The 38-year-old was helping McGregor train for his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather two years ago.

However, the Irishman releasing footage of him dominating Malignaggi, rather than the whole sparring session, has led to where we are today.

There is a ton of bad blood when Artem Lobov goes up against Paulie Malignaggi in their upcoming boxing bout.

Malignaggi will face the former UFC featherweight competitor from Tampa, Florida, on June 22nd. This fight will be promoted by BKFC. Conor McGregor’s longtime training partner has been in the headlines after exchanging words and even having a confrontation with the former boxing champion. There is some backstory to their problems.

Malignaggi was brought in as a sparring partner to help McGregor prepare for Floyd Mayweather. The footage from their sparring sessions, where Malignaggi felt he was depicted in a bad light, was released to the public. “Magic Man” subsequently left the camp.

Top mixed martial arts (MMA) coach Firas Zahabi has sounded off on the upcoming fight. He noted that he thinks Lobov has a very good chance of winning despite fight fans grossly underestimating him.

Artem Lobov Against Paulie Malignaggi

“I think that everybody is grossly underestimating Artem Lobov,” Zahabi explained on his YouTube channel. “These are all points I think are gonna give Artem Lobov a very good fighting chance.”

“If it’s a brawl, I’m picking Artem, if it’s a clean boxing match, I’m picking Malignaggi,” Zahabi said (H/T to Bloody Elbow). “If Paulie Malignaggi comes in there like a hot head, and lacks discipline, he can lose.

I’m ultimately picking Paulie to win, but I listen to his interviews, and he scares me. He makes me think that this guy is either a great actor, or they really got under his skin and he’s going to forget everything he knows that night and he’s just gonna brawl.”

Brennan Ward plans on performing in his Bare Knuckle FC debut the same way he did in mixed martial arts (MMA) — swinging for the stars.

Ward will finally make his debut for the promotion when he takes on former UFC middleweight Chris Leben at BKFC 6 on June 22 in Tampa, Florida. And the former Bellator star, who has nine knockouts in 14 wins and has only been the distance once, believes this fight is also destined to end with a finish:

“If you watch any of my MMA fights, you know I come out hard, I come out fast,” Ward told MMA Junkie. “I’ve never been one to – I’ve been to the third round one time in my career. I come out fast and hard, I swing for the stars, get knocked out, or I knock somebody out. Nothing is going to be different.”

Ward retired from MMA in 2017 following a two-fight losing streak. He was on the receiving end of a devastating flying knee against Paul Daley at Bellator 170. Then, he was submitted by Fernando Gonzalez at Bellator 182.

Ward has no plans to return to MMA for now, and claims his only form of competitive combat will solely be with his bare knuckles.

“If I’m going to fight, this is what I want to do,” he added.

BKFC 6 will be headlined by a grudge match between former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi and former UFC featherweight Artem Lobov.
