Dutch speed skating star Jutta Leerdam, girlfriend of boxer Jake Paul, has experienced a significant drop in the Media250 rankings, a prestigious list of the most influential figures in Dutch media. After ranking 38th last year, Leerdam has fallen 21 spots to 59th in the 2025 edition, despite the list expanding from 100 to 250 names.

Following a busy skating weekend in China, the 25-year-old flew to the United Arab Emirates to train in milder conditions. Alongside her rigorous schedule, Leerdam is enjoying some quality time with her boyfriend, American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The couple, who reunited for the first time since Paul’s boxing match against Mike Tyson, is expected to attend the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend. This could lead to a high-profile meeting with fellow Dutch sports icon Max Verstappen, who recently announced that he and his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, are expecting their first child.

Jake Paul and Jutta Leerdam’s relationship began in late 2022 when Paul reached out to Leerdam via Instagram, inviting her to be a guest on his podcast. Initially, Leerdam was skeptical, thinking Paul seemed arrogant based on his online persona. However, as they continued talking, they discovered a deeper connection and quickly became close.

The couple officially announced their relationship in April 2023, with Paul playfully declaring on Instagram, “I’m Dutch now”. During their recent press conference to promote the fight, Till made remarks that if he was losing the contest, he would get himself disqualified by choosing to kick Fury instead. In a post on social media, Fury claimed that for this reason, he isn’t going ahead with the fight.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics. I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

Till has since responded via several social media posts and videos where he heavily criticized Fury for withdrawing from the fight for this reason when he was simply trying to sell the fight and hasn’t said anything similar since. He also called out Jake Paul, claimed that Fury was never going to fight on that date in the first place and said that he will be staying on the January 18 card in Manchester with a new opponent currently being searched for.

Donegi Abena Calls Out Jake Paul

Donegi Abena is the number one ranked light heavyweight in the world in kickboxing after a stellar 2024. The 26-year-old faced three opponents in a single evening to capture the 2024 Glory Light Heavyweight Grand Prix title, stopping all three opponents by way of knockout.

This weekend, Abena takes on his career rival Tarik Khbabez with the light heavyweight division title on the line in their third meeting. The Surinamese-Dutch athlete is looking to make a statement with a decisive victory in the trilogy match against the Moroccan striker. The two are set to battle at Glory Collision 7 on December 7.

Abena has spent some time training his sharp hands with the Fury family and was a sparring partner for Tommy Fury, a former opponent of celebrity boxer Jake Paul. On a potential Jake Paul matchup, the kickboxing champion did not leave any doubt, in an interview with me, he said:

“I would smash him. I would smash him. And that’s the reason why he takes guys who are 60, or guys who aren’t used to only boxing … He’s a smart businessman. He’s making millions of dollars, and he’s fighting people with names. But they’re either old, or they’re from a different sport. Jake Paul, he’s fighting old guys and not boxers. If he wants it, he can get it as well.”

Jake Paul was a social media influencer who transitioned to a career in professional boxing but has taken criticism for not facing ranked fighters, instead opting for blockbuster matches. In his career, he’s defeated former UFC fighters such as Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva, among others. Most recently, Jake Paul had a heavyweight boxing match against 58-year-old Mike Tyson. In a press conference, Japan’s Rukiya Anpo used this as motivation, he said:

Rukiya Anpo is a former kickboxing world champion who held titles in K-1, he was well known for his high kick attacks and has spent a lifetime training in karate. Anpo and Garcia will have an exhibition boxing match with Rizin in Tokyo, Japan, on December 30.
