Bellator 212 results are underway as the Viacom promotion holds this latest event on television for fight fans around the world to watch the show.

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, December 14, 2018) will come in the form of Bellator 212. Headlining the card are Brent Primus and Michael Chandler, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.

Brent Primus and Michael Chandler meet in a lightweight title fight in the main event.

Frank Mir vs. Javy Ayala meet in a heavyweight bout the co-main event.

A.J. McKee vs. Daniel Crawford is next in a featherweight bout.

Alejandra Lara vs. Juliana Velasquez in a women’s flyweight bout.

Opening the main card on Paramount Network is Derek Campos vs. Sam Sicilia in a featherweight bout. In round 1, Sicilia stunned him right out of the gate then continued to tag him as they threw bombs. They clinched and Campos landed some good shots in the pocket. Sicilia lands a few more stinging punches upstairs but Campos rolls with them. In round 2, they come right out and swing for the fences. Sicilia is aggressive and forcing Campos back. Sicilia lands a few bombs to the head and Campos staggers back again. Campos gets the fight to the canvas and is in Sicilia’s guard. In round 3, Sicilia looks tired early and is taken down quickly into the third. Campos lands some heavy punches down the stretch and has Sicilia in trouble but time expires. Michael Chandler: Beating Me Is ‘Highlight Of Brent Primus’ Life’

Make no mistake about it, it’s personal between lightweight champion Brent Primus and Michael Chandler. Make no mistake about it, it’s personal between lightweight champion Brent Primus and Michael Chandler.

Heading into their rematch on Friday (Dec. 14, 2018) night both men are calling it as they see it. That is, neither guy likes the other and aren’t afraid to admit it.

“The dynamics are different than a lot of fights,” Chandler revealed at open workouts via MMAjunkie. “A lot of times, I have a ton of respect for the guys who I step in the cage with, who are full-time fighters who pour themselves into the sport. They fight numerous times a year, they make it their life, their dream, their goal, their task to be a professional fighter.

“That’s not necessarily the case here in this fight. But, at the end of the day, I’ve prepared for him like he’s the No. 1 lightweight in the world. I’ve prepared for him like he’s my toughest test to date. I feel the best that I ever have been, so I’m excited to go out there, put all the grudge match stuff behind, put all the personal stuff behind.”

Their rivalry has been well-documented. The former champion has called out Primus on multiple occasions, but the champ has been on an extended layoff. Still, Chandler doesnt buy what Primus is selling and he wants to make him pay for making him wait 18 months for his rematch.

“I’ve stayed active,” Chandler said. “He’s done nothing but rust up there in Oregon teaching kids jiu-jitsu somewhere. So I’m ready to step back in there and continue this quest.”

Another thing that has rubbed Chandler the wrong way is the way it seems Primus is flanting the belt in his face.

“That’s the highlight of his life,” Chandler said. “It’s good. That’s the thing, man. He’s got the belt. Let him enjoy it. To me, you’re not going to see me with the belt that much. It’s for the kids, it’s for the camera, it’s for that kind of stuff, that’s cool. For me, this is a constant quest of outperforming my previous self. It’s not about the belt, it’s not about the money, it’s not about the lights, it’s not about the cameras.

“I’ve been in this sport a long time, and I know exactly what I’m fighting for. It will be nice to win that belt, but it’s just 12 pounds of gold and leather. It’s going to go right up on my mantle and collect dust, just like the other four of five I have.”

“Bellator and USO Present: Salute the Troops” takes place this evening (Fri., December 14, 2018) at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu.

Brent Primus’ rematch with Michael Chandler is personal.

Primus defeated Chandler for the Bellator lightweight championship back in June of 2017. He picked up the first-round TKO win due to a leg injury Chandler sustained during the fight. Chandler has remained adamant that the only reason Primus defeated him was because of his injury. The pair will get to see whether or not that is true tomorrow (Fri., December 14, 2018) at Bellator 212.

Chandler will finally get his rematch Primus and an opportunity to reclaim the Bellator lightweight title. However, given Chandler’s recent comments, this fight is a very personal one for Primus (via MMAjunkie):

“All the stuff he’s been talking, all the lying, all the controversy, it is (personal), man,” Primus said. “I want to get in there and prove that it wasn’t a mistake – and he knows that it wasn’t, too – so I’m excited.

“Literally, I was so scared that I heard that he might be going to another organization because his contract was up, and I was literally praying that he stays with Bellator, and I’m just really excited that he’s staying. We can get in there and get it done.”

Primus is currently undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. However, he hasn’t competed since he defeated Chandler back in 2017. A string of injuries has kept him sidelined from action. As for Chandler, he has back-to-back wins following his loss to Primus, his latest in April.
