When I tracked him down after the event had wrapped up, he and his friends were just finishing up in a nearby skydiving simulator, during which one of his friends lost a tooth that had been superglued into his mouth after being knocked out. This was treated as a hilarious misadventure that everyone, including the loser of the tooth, seemed to enjoy.
Just another day in Mayhemland.
After he’d calmed down enough to form sentences, Miller agreed to go head-to-head with me in a prediction contest for UFC 121. Talk about an adrenaline rush.

From the first time he stepped into the UFC octagon, Cain Velasquez seemed destined for great things. A two-time collegiate All-American wrestler who had made a seamless transition into the striking game, Velasquez was immediately seen as the future of the heavyweight division, an agile, multi-talented phenom with fighting spirit and a killer instinct who embodied the evolution of MMA’s heavyweight class.
Little did we know then that an age of superheavyweights was upon us, led by the arrival of Brock Lesnar.
So Saturday night’s UFC 121 championship fight marks the inevitable clash between the man who would be king, and the king himself.

Expect no shortage of Mexican flags when Cain Velasquez enters, and the requisite boos when Brock Lesnar strolls in.
In other words, get ready to see the exact fan response you’d expect after the way the “Primetime” series framed the main event bout.
Now that the match-ups are set and the fighters are hunkered down in their hotel rooms until fight time, let’s take a look at how oddsmakers see things playing out on Saturday.

In the main event, heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is likely to come in right at the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds, while No. 1 contender Cain Velasquez will be considerably smaller. Velasquez weighed in at 242 for his last fight, eight months ago, and it will be interesting to see whether he’s bulked up at all in preparation for his fight with the enormous Lesnar.
The weigh-in starts at 5 PM ET and the video is below.
