UFC president Dana White is extremely happy about the release of former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez from jail.
Velasquez was arrested due to a shooting and car chase incident earlier this year. Velasquez chased and shot at Harry Goularte who allegedly molested a relative of Velasquez. He has been on trial and in prison since February 2022. With a $1,000,000 bail, Velasquez can go home. He is still under surveillance and will need to show up in court at a later date regarding the charges against him.
Dana White spoke with TMZ regarding the release of Velasquez. He said:
“I’m happy for him and his family to finally be back together. Cain Velasquez is a good man. He’s a good person. And I’m hoping the judge that looks at this case says ‘You know what, this family has suffered enough.’ As if the kids haven’t suffered enough in this thing. They lost their father for almost a year. Hopefully, the real justice gets served in this case. And Cain Velasquez, who is a good man, a good father, a good husband, gets to be at home with his family.”

Cain Velasquez was the UFC heavyweight world champion in 2010 when he knocked out Brock Lesnar in the first round. Officially, Velasquez had his last MMA fight in 2019. He worked closely alongside other AKA gym members such as Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Cormier was extremely happy for his good friend. On Twitter, he shared “LFG!”
In a statement, Velasquez said:
“Ready to go home, be with the loved ones, family, and friends, and make something positive of this whole situation. Just thank you to everybody who had my support. I love all of you. Just always continue to be better as a person, always do good things and just make something positive of this terrible situation. My family and I, we’re going to do that.”

MMA fans rejoiced as former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is finally going home to his family.
The UFC icon has been behind bars since February after allegedly engaging in an 11-mile high-speed chase. Velasquez was reportedly pursuing a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, the man he has accused of molesting his 4-year-old son and other children at a daycare run by Goularte’s mother. Velasquez is said to have fired multiple shots at the vehicle using a .40 caliber handgun and striking the driver, Goularte’s stepfather Paul Bender.
Due to the premeditated nature of the incident, Cain Velasquez was charged with 10 offenses, the most serious being attempted murder which carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. The nature of the incident also found Velasquez and his attorney Mark Geragos repeatedly denied bail. That changed this week when Judge Arthur Bocanegra agreed to release Velasquez on $1 million bail which Velasquez posted. He was released early Wednesday morning.
“Mr. Velasquez, I would not release you if I was not convinced that upon a release at this time, eight months later, that you would be a danger to Harry Goularte primarily, Patricia Goularte, or Paul Bender,” Bocanegra said. “If you are as devoted a husband and father, I’m confident and have to believe you will not jeopardize anything that would take you away from your son, your daughter, your family. I hope you don’t prove me wrong.”

Following his release, Cain Velasquez made a statement to local news station KRON-4.
“Just feel blessed,” Velasquez said. “Ready to go home, be with the loved ones, family, and friends, and make something positive of this whole situation. Just thank you to everybody who had my support. I love all of you. Just always continue to be better as a person, always do good things and just make something positive of this terrible situation. My family and I, we’re going to do that.”
The conditions of his parole require him to remain under house arrest with GPS monitoring. He is not allowed to have any firearms in his home and was ordered to undergo outpatient treatment for traumatic brain injury and CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy). Velasquez will also be required to attend counseling for parents of children who have been victimized by sexual abuse.
Cain Velasquez will be back in court on November 21st for the next hearing in his case.

Former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez has been freed from jail on a $1,000,000 bail, after the Salinas native was initially arrested and charged with premeditated attempted murder and a slew of other charges in relation to an incident where Velasquez is alleged to have shot at occupants in a vehicle.
As per the terms of Velasquez’s $1,000,000 bail, the former UFC heavyweight champion will have to wear a GPS tracking device, and is prohibited from coming within 300 yards of the alleged victim in the same attempted muder case.
“It’s been a long slog, and I’m very grateful,” Cain Velasquez’s attorney, Mark Geragos told ESPN following the decision to release his client on bail. “Nothing is as touching as watching him having it sink in with his wife, Michelle, there.”
Velasquez, who was initially arrested back in February of this year, pleaded not guilty to a charge of premeditated attempted murder in August.
Velasquez is alleged to have engaged in a vehicle pursuit with another vehicle, containing Harry Goularte, who is accused of molesting a close relative of Velasquez on numerous occasions, before shooting at the vehicle, allegedly hitting Goularte’s step father.
Reacting to Cain Velasquez’s release on bail from police custody, former two-weight UFC champion, Daniel Cormier tweeted, “LFG!!!!!!!!” – in support of his American Kickboxing Academy teammate and training partner.
Former UFC middleweight titleholder, Michael Bisping also voiced his support for Velasquez, tweeting, “About time. Congrats to all his family.”
A former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion under the UFC banner, Velasquez defeated both Brock Lesnar, and Junior dos Santos to clinch his championships.
Last competing professionally atop a ‘Fight Night’ billed card in Phoenix, Arizona back in 2019, Velasquez suffered a first round knockout loss against current heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
