UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see UFC interim bantamweight champ Renana Barao take on former WEC title holder Eddie Wineland.
Jimmo saw his seventeen fight win streak come to an end last month after a decision loss in London, England. After dominating the first round ‘The Real Deal’ lost steam and saw opponent James Te-Huna turn things around to pick up a unanimous decision win at UFC on FUEL TV 7. Prior to that Jimmo debuted with the UFC, tying the record for the fastest knockout with a seven second finish over Anthony Perosh at UFC 149.
Pokrajac will look for his first win in three matches after going 0-1 (1NC) in his last couple of bouts. The Croatian carries a 4-4 (1NC) record overall in the Octagon with a “No Contest” result versus Joey Beltran at UFC on FX 6 after ‘The Mexicutioner’ tested positive for a banned result. Before that, ‘The Duke’ lost via second round submission to Vinny Magalhaes at UFC 152 and won his last bout at UFC on FUEL TV 3 with a decision against Fabio Maldonado.

UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see UFC interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao defend his title versus former WEC champ Eddie Wineland.
Clarke, who hails from the neighboring Province of Saskatchewan, will compete in front of his fellow Canadians at the UFC 161 event and will look to capture his first win in the Octagon. ‘Danger Zone’ has fought twice for the UFC and has lost both matches. Most recently he was in action this past July at UFC 149 in Calgary losing the bout versus Anton Kuivanen by split decision. He debuted at UFC 140, suffering a second round TKO loss to John Cholish seeing his nine fight win streak end.
‘The One’ has also dropped his last two bouts with the top promotion, losing decisions to Matt Riddle at UFC 154 and to John Hathaway at UFC on FUEL TV 5. Unlike his upcoming opponent, Maguire has two wins inside the Octagon with victories against DaMarquest Johnson at UFC on FUEL TV 2 and over Justin Edwards at UFC 138. Those victories extended his win streak to six matches and included a “Submission of the Night” bonus for his win against Johnson.

Press Release – The Maximum Fighting Championship is thrilled to announce that for the first time in the history of any major mixed martial arts promotion, two brothers will fight each other in a professional bout.
Thomas Treadwell and Mike Treadwell, who are not only siblings but also live together, will battle in a heavyweight matchup on the undercard of MFC 37: True Grit taking place live at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday, May 10.
“Absolutely, undeniably, one of the craziest and most anticipated fights in MFC history,” said Mark Pavelich, Owner/President of the Maximum Fighting Championship.
“Who hasn’t wondered what it would be like to watch two brothers fight? I remember from my own childhood, the most violent fights I was ever involved in myself were against my brother. We’d practically tear the house down because I was the younger brother out to prove myself against the older brother.
“I have a distinct feeling Treadwell vs. Treadwell will have that ‘Prove who’s really the toughest’ mentality and be a spectacularly wild fight.”
Long-time fans of MMA, this will be the pro debut for both brothers who share a condo in Edmonton, Alberta.
“We’re taking brotherhood to the next level,” said Mike Treadwell, 30, who previously served in the Canadian Armed Forces and has a background in security.
“This is something we’re excited about, and I think people are going to be very excited to see,” added Thomas Treadwell, a 20-year-old speciality mechanic.
While there are several significant brother combinations in mixed martial arts including Rodrigo and Rogerio Noguiera, Frank and Ken Shamrock, and Nick and Nate Diaz, plus former MFC welterweight champ Pat Healy and his twin Ryan, a brother versus brother showdown hasn’t happened until now. Once again, the MFC is making history.
“It doesn’t matter the names of the competitors – brothers are fighting, that’s all it will take to get people excited,” noted Mike.
The level of interest from friends and colleagues has overshadowed the small wave of negative feedback the brothers have received from certain family members, though another brother, Russ, will corner Thomas.
“Dad was angry and thinks we’re idiots. Mom knows but we don’t talk about it with her. Everyone else seems supportive,” said Thomas.
“The moment I mentioned to just a handful of people that this fight was going to take place, their reaction was pure fascination and then instantly it turned to a state of unbridled enthusiasm to see it for themselves,” offered Pavelich.
Tickets for MFC 37: True Grit are on sale now and are available at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling the MFC Ticket Hotline at (780) 504-2024.
