Much like myself, die hard mixed martial arts fans look for ways of expressing their love for the sport by posting on forum boards, creating websites like TheMMANews.com or by creating fan posts.

This particular Fan Post comes via Anthony Alexander who wanted to express his top “7 MMA Fights” of 2013.

Fans reading through this “Fan Post” will immediately see the first listed bout as UFC 157. Now due to my busy schedule, I wasn’t able to put the article up in time but the man wasn’t wrong when it came to picking a “don’t miss” bout.

If you caught UFC 157, it was certainly one 2013′s more memorable events with UFC women’s champ Ronda Rousey solidifying her hold on the 135-lbs title.

Of course hindsight being 20-20, including UFC on FX 8 on the list would have made Anthony an MMA genius following the ‘Fight of the Year’ candidates in Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann.

Regardless, hopefully you’ll enjoy this Fan Post and offer your own opinion on which 7 fights your excited to see in 2013.

    Maybe in May

    MFC 37

    Further in the Year

Let’s be honest here. There is no way to know who is going to win which fights. Stats change as the year goes by, and favorites become underdogs. Because of this, it is hard to know exactly who will be fighting what matches later in the year. Though there are fights scheduled, such as UFC in August, it is still to be announced who will be participating. Keep your eyes peeled; your favorite may turn up in unexpected fights.

These fights are energetic, exciting, and intense. Plan ahead and watch your favorite fights throughout the year.

MFC 37Press Release – The Maximum Fighting Championship is excited to announce the addition of a middleweight bout to the lineup for MFC 37: True Grit taking place on Friday, May 10 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Hometown striker Chase “Deggy” Degenhardt (8-3) will face the toughest test of his career as he takes on former MFC title challenger “Smilen” Sam Alvey (19-5, 1 NC) on the main card airing live on AXS TV Fights from the Shaw Conference Centre beginning at 10 p.m. ET/8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT (check local listings for channel designation).

Degenhardt (Twitter: @ChaseDeggy) boasts six knockouts on his career resume, and is coming off a second-round stoppage of Chad Sherman on the undercard of MFC 35. The Edmonton, Alberta, product, who will ride a two-fight winning streak into the matchup, has notched notable victories over Dan Chambers and Chuck Pelc.

Meanwhile, Alvey will be looking to rebound following his narrow decision defeat to Elvis Mutapcic in their MFC world middleweight title bout at MFC 36. The 26-year-old, who trains in Temecula, California, came up just short in a hard-fought encounter against the reigning champ as the two went punch-for-punch in an action-packed stand-up battle.

Alvey (Twitter: @smilensam) has notched 11 wins by way of knockout and added a pair of victories by submission. His career is highlighted by a pair of four-fight winning streaks, and an impressive seven-fight run that included wins over Karl Amoussou and Jason Guida.

Alvey recently married “America’s Next Top Model” winner McKey Sullivan and the couple are expecting their first child.

The Degenhardt-Alvey matchup joins four other bouts already slated for the MFC 37 main card:

Chris Barnett (7-1) vs. Smealinho Rama (6-0), MFC heavyweight title

Ryan Benoit (6-1) vs. Anthony Birchak (9-1), bantamweight

Jason Zentgraf (7-1) vs. Luke Harris (9-2), middleweight

Kurt Southern (10-4) vs. Mukai Maromo (8-3), lightweight

An additional fight will be added shortly to round out the main card, and a full slate of preliminary bouts will be announced in the near future.

Tickets for MFC 37: True Grit are on sale now and available at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling the MFC Ticket Hotline at (780) 504-2024.

Officials with UFC Canada announced the matchup Wednesday evening on Twitter (@UFC_CA).

And the #UFC161 news keeps rolling in – this time it’s welterweights @seanpierson & @TJWaldburger who will meet in the Peg on June 15th

UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see UFC interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao defend his belt against current contender Eddie Wineland in the main event.

Pierson, who is based out of Toronto, will travel one Province over to appear at a second straight Canadian event and carries a two-fight win streak into the bout versus Waldburger. ‘The Punisher’ earned a decision win last fall at UFC 152, defeating Lance Benoist at home in Toronto in his last fight. He was also in action in June defeating Jake Hecht by decision as well at UFC on FX 3.

Waldburger is 3-1 in his last four Octagon appearances picking up his second “Submission of the Night” bonus last December at the TUF 16 Finale. Waldburger choked out opponent Nick Catone to earn a technical submission win. Before that he dropped a decision to Brian Ebersole at UFC on FX 4 and earned a first round submission win against Hecht at UFC on FX 1, giving Waldburger a 2-1 record in 2012.

Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship have added another bout to this summer’s UFC 161 event, naming lightweight fighters Sam ‘Hands of Stone’ Stout (19-8-1) and Isaac Vallie-Flagg (14-3-1) as opponents for the Canadian event.

UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland is expected to take place on June 15, 2013 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event will see interim bantamweight champ Renan Barão defend his title against top contender Eddie Wineland.

Officials with the promotion announced the bout on Twitter (@UFC) on Wednesday night.

Stout will compete in front of his fellow Canadians at the Winnipeg event and enters this match on a win having beaten another Strikeforce fighter Caros Fodor by split decision last month at UFC 157. The win put ‘Hands of Stone’ back on the winning track after a decision loss to countryman John Makdessi at UFC 154 in November.

Vallie-Flagg debuted inside the Octagon at UFC 156 last month, picking up a split decision over Yves Edwards extending his undefeated streak to twelve bouts. Just two of those matches have taken place at lightweight though, the win versus Edwards and a Strikeforce bout last May with Gesias Cavalcante, which also ended in a split decision win.
