Charles Oliveira is ready to let his fighting do his talking against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300 on Saturday.
Oliveira is set to fight Tsarukyan on Saturday in a potential No. 1 contender fight at lightweight. It’s a very intriguing matchup, and in the lead-up to the fight, Tsarukyan took aim at Oliveira’s record as he said the Brazilian is limited to taking his opponents’ backs and submitting them with rear-naked chokes.
“People say what they want, right?” Charles Oliveira said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “If I only have that, and I have 16 submissions on my [UFC] record, I guess they were all from the back, right? And I guess the knockouts I have weren’t knockouts, they were submissions. It’s too much bulls*** they talk. It was said that I’m a quitter, but I was knocked down, walked forward and knocked them out. I also heard I’m not hungry, that I don’t want it anymore. He doesn’t know how bad I want to become champion again.”
Oliveira knows Tsarukyan is a solid well-rounded opponent so the Brazilian is expecting a very tough fight on Saturday at UFC 300.
Charles Oliveira vows to finish Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300
Charles Oliveira enters his UFC 300 scrap as the betting underdog, but the Brazilian has confidence he can pull off the upset.
Oliveira believes he has all the tools to defeat Tsarukyan, and thinks he can finish him to have another statement win.
“Of course, I want to knock him out. I want to submit him. I want the win, and I don’t want to leave it to the judges. The worst thing that can happen is leave it to the judges, so I will go for it the entire time. Of course, very strategically, making things happen. He’s super tough, has good striking and good takedowns, but I’m 100 percent ready for this. I’m not worried about what Arman can bring, but with what I can do. It’s all about me being happy and bold, and having my hand raised.”
If Oliveira wins, he thinks he could get a title shot next, but isn’t ruling out being Conor McGregor’s return opponent.

Charles Oliveira has sounded off about who he believes will emerge victorious from the much-anticipated Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill fight, which will go down at UFC 300 this weekend, on April 13th.
The Brazilian knockout artist Alex Pereira will have his chance to attain UFC light heavyweight gold when he takes on ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill, and according to Oliveira, there’s a huge chance that his fellow Brazilian will walk away with another stunning knockout added to his resume.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Charles Oliveira broke down the matchup and told viewers his perspective on the upcoming battle. Man, Jamahal Hill deserves all the respect in the world, he’s super tough and hits hard,” Oliveira began. “But, everyone that comes into trade with ‘Poatan’ gets folded.”

“‘Poatan’ is tough and hits hard,” Oliveira continued. “‘Poatan’ definitely is hungry for revenge too, and wants to avenge Glover’s loss (to Jamahal Hill). You have to be careful with that, but I’m sure ‘Poatan’ will knock him out.”
“Jamahal Hill said he will stand and trade with ‘Poatan’, that he will not try and take him down… He’s bluffing, for sure. Jamahal Hill has the takedowns, and the means to make it happen. That’s the strategy, to take him down. If he trades on the feet, he’s getting knocked out.”
Charles Oliveira himself actually has a fight booked for UFC 300, and he’s facing an exciting prospect named Arman Tsarukyan. Tsarukyan is entering the matchup riding a three-fight win streak, and most notably, both Oliveira and Tsarukyan have a victory over Beneil Dariush in their most recent fights. The matchup is surely going to decide who will be next up for title contention, and it is a battle both men would surely not like to lose.

Earlier this week, former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira’s head coach, Diego Lima confirmed how if afforded the opportunity, his student would accept an immediate turnaround against Conor McGregor after his return at UFC 300. And the Brazilian himself has backed up those claims, citing the chance to make a lucrative payday for himself.
Oliveira, the current number one ranked lightweight contender and former undisputed division champion, is slated to make his return at UFC 300 next weekend in an officially billed lightweight title-eliminator against surging contender, Arman Tsarukyan.
Sidelined since last June, Sao Paulo finisher, Charles Oliveira most recently returned to the winner’s enclosure with a blistering first round ground strikes TKO win over perennial contender, Beneil Dariush – snapping the Iranian’s impressive winning streak.
“It would be great to fight (Conor) McGregor,” Diego Lima said. “Professionally speaking, [fighting McGregor[ would be incredible. If we had the opportunity to fight McGregor at welterweight after this fight [with Arman Tsarukyan], we would fight McGregor. But how abou the belt. OK, we’ll fight the belt after that, God willing. But we know that with McGregor, the creature has become bigger than the creator.”
“We know that if the opportunity came, McGregor already considered this fight – if we really had this opportunity, that’s the one we want,” Lima explained.

And echoing his coach’s claims, Oliveira cited the chance to land a significant fight pursue for himself as the reason for entertaining a fight with McGregor before a chance to reclaim his lightweight crown.
“I would absolutely go with Conor (McGregor) because of the money,” Charles Oliveira told MMA Fighting. “Everything has to be discussed. When you sit at the table, and there’s a contract, you say, ‘Ok, cool, I want this win. Am I next in line with a win?’ … You’re putting way too much money in your bank account to live a good live, and then you’re fighting for the title. It doesn’t make any difference.”
