In the heavyweight realm, fighters hit hard, but some hit harder than others.

Rising contender Chris Daukaus (12-3) took to MMA on SiriusXM to discuss his upcoming bout with Derrick Lewis this weekend at UFC Vegas 45. According to Daukaus, the Houston slugger hits harder than the current UFC heavyweight champion.

“I think he’s got more power than Francis Ngannou,” proclaimed Daukaus.

While it’s hard to qualify punching power, there’s no debate that Lewis hits like a Mack truck to the face. Of his 25 victories in mixed martial arts, 20 of those have ended via knockout. “The Black Beast” has been utterly outclassed more than once before detonating a single fist on his opponent’s jaw and ending the fight.

Francis Ngannou, though, is no slouch in the power department. With 16 victories to his name, Ngannou earned 12 of them with his punches. Many outlets gave the Cameroonian “KO of the Year: honors back in 2017 for his astonishing finish of Alistair Overeem

Yet, Daukaus is no stranger to turning off another man’s lights himself. The Philadelphian has finished every UFC fight thus far with strikes. His last outing saw him TKO Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266.

Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus is scheduled for UFC Vegas 45 on December 18. There, the behemoths will meet in a five-round main event.

EXCLUSIVE | Chris Daukaus Willing To Serve As Backup For UFC 270

Chris Daukaus may be getting ready to take on his first UFC main event against Derrick Lewis next month, but he’s already thinking about what’s ahead and is willing to be the UFC 270 backup.

Daukaus is scheduled to face Lewis in a five-round UFC Fight Night main event on Dec. 18, in a massive fight for the heavyweight division. But, he’s ready and willing to make a quick turnaround and serve as the backup for UFC 270’s heavyweight title bout between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

It’s becoming more common for UFC fighters to volunteer to be backup fighters for main events, even though it’s seldomly been used for big pay-per-view cards. Although he has to get past a tough test in Lewis, Daukaus is willing to take the next step necessary to ingratiate himself into the title conversation.

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA’s James Lynch, expressed his interest in being the backup to Gane vs. Ngannou.

“I have nothing going on in January,” Daukaus said. “You call me and get me a flight out to Las Vegas, and I’ll be able to weigh in just in case.”

The heavyweight title picture has been a bit confusing this year after Ngannou won the belt over Stipe Miocic in March before an interim title bout was scheduled promptly afterward. Lewis would go on to lose the interim title to Gane and set up a matchup between him and Daukaus.

Daukaus has won five in a row and is undefeated during his short tenure in the UFC. Before signing with the promotion, he enjoyed a variety of success in regional promotions such as Cage Fury and Ring of Combat.

If UFC president Dana White needs someone if the UFC 270 card needs saving, Daukaus sounds ready to step in right away.

What do you think Chris Daukaus’ ceiling is in the UFC’s heavyweight division?

UFC heavyweight contender Chris Daukaus isn’t lacking confidence heading into his first main event against Derrick Lewis on Dec. 18.

Daukaus is one of the hottest heavyweights in the UFC, with five straight wins including most recently a TKO victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266. This is a massive opportunity for Daukaus to earn a big name on his resume and possibly etch his name into the title picture.

But Daukaus doesn’t believe that Lewis is anything he hasn’t faced before, outside of the signature power in his right hand. During a recent interview with LowKickMMA’s James Lynch, Daukaus explained what the key is to earn a big win next month.

“I just feel like I’m going to be quicker than Derrick,” Daukaus said. “Just avoid that big right hand of his, make him work, and not let him dictate the pace. I don’t see this fight going any other way other than me getting my hand raised. I think I’m better everywhere.”

Daukaus made his UFC debut against Parker Porter at UFC 252, earning a TKO win in the first round. Before he signed with the UFC, he had success on the regional circuit in promotions such as Cage Fury and Ring of Combat.

Lewis is looking for a big win against an up-and-comer in Daukaus next month. He’ll make his return to the octagon for the first time since losing the interim heavyweight title to Ciryl Gane at UFC 265. Lewis was originally expected to face Francis Ngannou before an interim title bout was booked.

The Daukaus/Lewis matchup is particularly interesting because both men aren’t afraid to let punches fly inside the cage. The UFC Fight Night main event is expected to be an exciting fight between two of the most electric strikers in the heavyweight division.

UFC heavyweight contender Chris Daukaus isn’t sure what to make of former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones after his latest legal issues.

Daukaus is slated to face Derrick Lewis in a UFC Fight Night main event scheduled for Dec. 18. Both men are looking to etch their name in the UFC heavyweight title picture, and potentially get the next title shot.

But Daukaus, a former Police Officer, had a lot to say about Jones’ latest out-of-competition issues. Jones was arrested last month in Las Vegas on battery domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his fiancee in front of their children in a Caesars Palace hotel room.

During a recent interview with LowKickMMA’s James Lynch, Daukaus went off on Jones’ pattern of behavior outside the octagon.

“People want to see him fight, but he built up this whole mythological creature for his move to heavyweight,” Daukaus said. “He’s gotta get out of his way and stop being an idiot. He’s surrounded by ‘yes men’ who let him do whatever he wants.

“Jon’s not gonna change,” Daukaus continued. “He can post all the bible verses he wants, but he’s going to keep doing it. That’s just human nature and how it is. I’m not holding my breath to see him come back anytime soon.”

Chris Daukaus Thinks Jon Jones Isn’t Being Held Accountable

Jones has yet to make his heavyweight debut after originally being rumored to face heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou this year, but contract negotiations never materialized. Daukaus is on a tear in the heavyweight division with five straight wins, including a TKO win over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266.

Jones and Daukaus are now heavyweight colleagues, and could potentially meet one another for a fight in the future.

What are your thoughts on Chris Daukaus’ comments regarding Jon Jones?

Derrick Lewis has every intention of ending 2021 on a high note when he returns to face rising heavyweight contender Chris Daukaus.

As first reported by ESPN late Monday evening and per Dana White, Derrick Lewis will soon have an opportunity to bounce back from his hometown defeat to Ciryl Gane at UFC 265 last month. To do so, he’ll have to get past an opponent who has yet to lose in the UFC, Chris Daukaus. The date listed in the report is December 18, but this may change, as Daukaus’ management has stated that they have requested more time.

Chris Daukaus open to Tom Aspinall in future, but sees others first

Philadelphia Police officer and full-time bruiser Chris Daukaus is 4-0 in the UFC, with all four victories being KO/TKOs. His opponent, Derrick Lewis, knows a thing or two about knockouts, being that he is the current record holder of them in the promotion. All but one of Daukaus’ total career wins have also been knockouts, so that lets you know what kind of bangs we are in store for when we get The Fourth in December by way of these heavyweight fireworks.

Daukaus’ most recent victim was claimed this past weekend at UFC 266, with the Philadelphian knocking out Shamil Abdurakhimov in the second round. As it happens, Lewis also holds a KO victory over Abdurakhimov as well.

If this bout does wind up on the December 18 card, here is the current lineup for the event:

Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus (Date Unconfirmed)

Raphael Assuncao vs. Ricky Simon

Amanda Lemos vs. Nina Nunes

Anthony Hernandez vs. Dustin Stoltzfus

Jordan Leavitt vs. Matt Sayles

Abusupiyan Magomedov vs. Gerald Meerschaert

Harry Hunsucker vs. Justin Tafa

Who do you think will win this heavyweight banger? Derrick Lewis or Chris Daukaus?

UFC 266 was a fantastic card with some great fights. There were some amazing finishes and performances this Saturday.

Here are some of the fighters that walked away with an extra ,000 on behalf of UFC President Dana White.

Fight of the Night’: Alexander Volkanovski vs Brian Ortega

In what might have been the best featherweight title fight of all time, Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski defeated Brian Ortega via unanimous decision. Volkanovski was in a few dangerous moments including a deep mounted guillotine and an extremely tight triangle choke. Volkanovski dominated 4/5 rounds and continues to show he is the best featherweight fighter in the world. Both Ortega and Volkanovski take home an extra $50,000 for their instant classic.

Performance of the Night’: Merab Dvalishvili

Dvalishvili appeared to be down and out of the fight against Marlon Moraes multiple times in the first round. He ended up rallying back and taking down Moraes 4 times before the fight was stopped in the 2nd round by TKO (ground and pound).

Performance of the Night’: Chris Daukaus

Chris Daukaus has now put together a 4 fight UFC win streak and has propelled himself even higher in the rankings after his 2nd TKO of Shamil Abdurakhimov. This is now Daukaus’s 3rd bonus check in 4 fights with the UFC. The young fighter is making a big name for himself quickly in the heavyweight division.
