Ciryl Gane hilariously recreated the snub that Francis Ngannu gave him at UFC 268 in New York with his friend.

Mostly everyone has seen the video of Ngannou walking by Gane and not giving him the light of day. Just a stone cold stare forward while Gane was looking at him. Ngannou explained that he just flat out didn’t feel like saying hello to Gane and his old coach Fernand Lopez. Gane on the other hand, didn’t understand the snub from Ngannou and why he flat out ignored him and his former coach Lopez.

Gane and his comedian friend Maff Derulo were the stars of this video. Derulo pretended to be Ngannou walking by quickly without looking. Derulo posted the video to his Instagram.

Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane will face each other at UFC 270 in Jan. to unify the heavyweight championship.

Gane won the interim title against Derrick Lewis a little while back, while Ngannou knocked out Stipe Miocic to win the title. Ngannou is currently the fourth ranked fighter in the pound for pound rankings. Gane is known to be one of the most technical strikers in the UFC, and many believe he is a true threat to dethrone Ngannou.

‘The Predator’ on the other hand, is one of the scariest fighters to ever step foot on Earth. When he touches his opponents he shuts their lights off in such a violent way. He is the hardest hitting fighter in UFC history without a doubt and he brutally knocked the heavyweight ‘GOAT’ Stipe Miocic out easily in their second bout.

Ngannou is on a five fight win streak and has knocked each of those opponents out on his way to the title. Gane is still an undefeated fighter and is on a ten fight win streak. This fight could possibly end up being one of the greatest heavyweight fights in UFC history.

Ngannou: I Always Expected To Fight Former Teammate Gane In The UFC

Francis Ngannou, Ciryl Gane

UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou has admitted he always expected to eventually face former teammate and current interim titleholder Ciryl Gane on MMA’s biggest stage.

Ngannou, who arrived in the UFC four years before fans first caught a glimpse of Gane in the Octagon, reached the heavyweight mountaintop at the second time of trying in March this year.

After falling short of Stipe Miocic’s gold in 2018, “The Predator” capped off a dominant tear back to the top, which included knockouts of Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik, with a title crowning in the UFC 260 main event.

While Ngannou’s journey to dethroning Miocic involved some setbacks, Gane’s road to UFC gold saw him build an unblemished record. After entering the Dana White-led promotion at 3-0, “Bon Gamin” impressed in his early fights and secured an interim title shot this year after main event wins over dos Santos, Rozenstruik, and Alexander Volkov. In front of a sold-out Houston crowd at UFC 265, he finished Derrick Lewis to win the belt.

The two titleholders, who used to train together at Paris’ renowned MMA Factory gym, are now set to square off in a blockbuster unification bout at UFC 270 on January 22.

Ngannou Brands Gane A “Very Talented” Heavyweight

Despite the fact Gane only made the transition from Muay Thai to MMA in 2018, and only reached 10 professional fights with his victory over Lewis in August, Ngannou has admitted that he always expected to face the Frenchman in the UFC.

Speaking to former two-division UFC champ Daniel Cormier in part two of The DC Check-in with Francis Ngannou, the Cameroonian acknowledged Gane’s ability and talents inside the Octagon, suggesting he imagined a matchup with his former teammate would take place in the world’s premier MMA promotion.

“Yeah, I didn’t know when or how long, but I imagined that it could happen. He’s a very talented guy. He’s really good. And in this sport, the landscape can change at any time. It can move. So it was a possibility. I knew that he was a possibility.”

Ngannou’s comments come weeks after his former coach Fernand Lopez accused the champ of sabotaging his efforts to ascend Gane into the UFC. According to the MMA Factory founder, “The Predator” told matchmaker Mick Maynard “Bon Gamin” wasn’t ready for the UFC.

Judging by his latest remarks, Ngannou was seemingly high on his former training partner and his chances of joining him in the UFC.

While it’s not clear whether these comments suggest a denial of Lopez’s accusations or infer that Ngannou did indeed turn the promotion away from Gane in order to protect his own UFC aspirations, they certainly offer some more insight into Ngannou’s feelings towards the interim champ.

Who do you think will emerge from UFC 270 with the undisputed heavyweight gold, Francis Ngannou or Ciryl Gane?

UFC heavyweight champion Francis predicts he’ll put away foe Ciryl Gane in their upcoming bout at UFC 270 in January.

The first PPV card of 2022 will be the main stage of Francis Ngannou‘s first title defence against interim champion Ciryl Gane. Ngannou’s legendary power and combined 85% finish rate has brought with it excitement from fans but the champion believes he has what it takes to continue his knockout streak.

In an interview with Daniel Cormier, Ngannou shared that he sees no other result than a  knockout for himself. The Cameroonian said “This fight might last a few rounds or not, but I’m not seeing me taking him to decision. I’m knocking him out. I mean it’s not like I go there to knock him out but I know that at some point it’s going to happen.”

“I’m trying to imagine all the possibilities. I’m like ‘What the first round? Or the second round? Or after this or after that?’ It’s gonna happen.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

The Tension Between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane

The bout has uncharacteristic tension for the two, which seems to have been caused by a dispute between Ngannou and his former mentor, Fernand Lopez, who is Ciryl Gane’s current coach.

In an interview with GQ Ngannou shared that his former coach, Lopez wanted the limelight for himself. He said “Fernand’s problem is that he wants to be famous. I can count how many times we had to argue about how he thought I was taking all the spotlight. … Bro, what do you want? If you want the spotlight, you know where the spotlight is. It’s inside the octagon, not on the side.

Lopez would respond by stating on his Instagram “I have known poverty, but there is no worse poverty than intellectual poverty. I am happy to have help you be satisfied, brother.”

What do you think? Will Francis Ngannou knockout Ciryl Gane?

Francis Ngannou Reveals Why He Ignored Ciryl Gane, Fernand Lopez Backstage At UFC 268

Francis Ngannou

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has reflected on his decision to blank former head coach, Fernand Lopez, and brief former training partner, upcoming title challenger, current interim gold holder, Ciryl Gane during a less than cordial walk-by backstage at UFC 268 earlier this month.

Footage emerged across social media during the event of Ngannou, the promotion’s heavyweight champion who was in attendance to support Kamaru Usman, walk backstage past the trio of Lopez, Gane, and former MMA Factory teammate, welterweight contender, Nassourdine Imavov — appearing to purposely blank all three of his former associates.

However, Ngannou has revealed that his problem does not lie with either upcoming UFC 270 opponent Gane nor former teammate, Imavov, but with former head coach, Lopez — with the Batie native claiming he was unsure if he should interact with him, as well as claiming that his former mentor had been making disparaging comments about him to media.

I felt like I didn’t want to say, ‘Hi’ for my sake,” Francis Ngannou told former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier during a recent interview. “It’s been a couple of years now that he’s out there… I mean, like, yeah, I want to be nice. but when it is him in that position, I had a few thoughts. I’m like, ‘Ok, should I say hi?’ Then I’m like, ‘I don’t know’. I might got closer (sic) and say hi and then somehow, you’ll hear that I said, ‘this’, which is not what I said. Getting close to him was giving an opportunity for him. Not only the fact that I’m sure that he didn’t need me to say hi, but it was giving him the opportunity to say something again that I didn’t say. I’d rather stay in the distance. … It’s not like we’re friendly. He’s attacking me all the time. I can’t do that. I don’t feel like it.

Ngannou then claimed that if he had spotted Gane solely backstage by himself, he likely would have spoken to the French native ahead of their title unification clash at the beginning of next year.

Francis Ngannou claims he would have spoken with Ciryl Gane if Fernand Lopez was not present at UFC 268

The only thing that bothers me a little bit [was Gane]… and he was right,” Francis Ngannou said. “I would’ve been confused. Obviously, as his coach said, he’s naive. I would’ve been confused, too, because if… I walked by Gane, I would say hi. If it’s just him, I’d say, ‘Hi, what’s up?’” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

For Ngannou, the Xtreme Couture mover headlined UFC 260 back in March against two-time heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic — finally clinching the undisputed crown with a thunderous second round knockout.

For the undefeated Gane, the undefeated striking sensation nabbed the interim heavyweight title back in August against common-foe Derrick Lewis — stopping the division’s most prolific knockout ace with a dominant, one-sided third round ground strikes stoppage.

Ngannou Explains Gane Snub, Thinks UFC Set The Whole Thing Up

Francis Ngannou, Ciryl Gane

Francis Ngannou has explained his viral backstage snub of former training partner Ciryl Gane, and he says there’s more than what meets the eye.

One of the stories that came out of UFC 268 had nothing to do with all the in-cage action. A backstage non-encounter between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane widely made the rounds over the internet, with Ngannou shown walking straight past Gane without even a trace of acknowledgment.

Gane himself was flabbergasted by the whole scene, summing his thoughts up in three short words: “Why? Just why?”

In an interview with Daniel Cormier that dropped Wednesday, Ngannou explained why. And as it happens, it wasn’t a snub of Ciryl Gane after all, but rather one of the other figures seen in the video, Ngannou’s ex-head coach and Gane’s current coach, Fernand Lopez.

“Yeah, I didn’t want to say hi. I feel like I didn’t want to say hi for my sake,” Ngannou said. “Well, it’s been a couple years now that [Lopez is] out there picking on me. I mean, like, yeah, I want to be nice, but when I saw him in that position, I [had] a few thoughts. I’m like, ‘OK, should I say hi? Then, I’m like, ‘I don’t know. I might go closer and say hi and somehow you will hear that I said [something I didn’t say].

Coach Fernand Lopez Says Dana White Was Telling The Truth About Francis Ngannou Having An Ego Problem

“Getting close to him was giving an opportunity for him—not only the fact that I’m sure that he didn’t need me to say hi, but it was giving him an opportunity to again say something that I didn’t say. So I’d rather stay in the distance. So it was good that the camera was there. They couldn’t say, ‘Francis said this,’ right? That was for my sake. I needed that. No, not like Francis say this. Maybe you can stand there. If we have to talk, we talk here. But once again, I don’t have a need—it’s not like we’re friendly. He’s attacking me all the time. Like, I can’t do that.”

Ngannou’s concerns may be warranted here, as Lopez has certainly made many accusations against his former fighter as of late. Among them, he claimed that Ngannou nudged the UFC not to sign Ciryl Gane, that Ngannou still owes gym fees to him, and he also stated that he’d rather coach Gane for free than work with Ngannou again for $100,000.

Ngannou also clarified that he has no issues at all with Gane. And as for Gane’s confusion on the whole matter goes, Ngannou says he would have had the same reaction if he were in Gane’s shoes. That said, had it only been Gane standing there, Ngannou assures that we would have seen a much less frigid video.

“I would have been confused to,” Ngannou said. “Because if I walk by Gane, I would say hi. If it’s just him, I would say ‘Hi, what’s up…’

“And if I say hi to them without saying hi to Fernand and then they respond, I think that might cause them a problem as well. So it just was a very confusing situation.”

Francis Ngannou Believes The Backstage Run-In Was Set Up By UFC Officials

After explaining #Snubgate, Ngannou wold then make a bombshell accusation. The UFC heavyweight champion says he is convinced the UFC set it up so that he would cross paths with Gane and Lopez. When an incredulous Daniel Cormier nearly refused to hear Ngannou’s reasoning out of sheer disbelief, Ngannou insisted that he present his evidence.

“There was this lady taking us to our seat. And she was bringing us to this section, and then they talked to her over the radio. And then [she said], ‘Oh, sorry, I’m wrong.’ So she turned around and we get back [and Gane and Lopez are standing right there]. I mean, tell me how this can be a coincidence…

“And when you look, by the time I come from the corner, the guy was ready with his camera. Like, if you watch that video, he was on me by the time I turned around the corner and just zooming on me like, ‘Oh, he’s there! He’s coming!’ [makes music sound] Like this movie scene! He was there waiting for [me]! It’s not like you see somebody and you’re like, ‘Oh, [it’s] them, let me film.’ Like, come on. His camera wasn’t just there ready to film something if ever something happened. No, he’s waiting.”

Backstage drama and conspiracy theories aside, arguably the two very best heavyweights in the world will compete at UFC 270 on January 22. This heavyweight blockbuster will be a title unification bout between Ngannou and Gane.

Yesterday, the UFC dropped the official poster for the event, which you can peep below.

May be an image of 2 people, indoor and text that says 'CHA UFC HAMP 270 AMP FOR THE HEAVYWEIGHT THRONE NGANNOU VS GANE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP JAN 22 SATURDAY ON PPV HONDA Center.'

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou isn’t pulling punches when it comes to his preparation for his UFC 270 clash against Ciryl Gane.

Ngannou will fight Gane on Jan. 22 on the UFC’s first pay-per-view card of 2022. To prepare for Gane’s unique skillset on the feet, he recently brought in Glory Kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven to develop his repertoire.

Xtreme Couture head coach Eric Nicksick revealed the partnership on his social media.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CWZr6phFSmw/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Verhoeven was supposed to face one of Ngannou’s former UFC opponents, Alistair Overeem in his latest Glory heavyweight title defense. However, Overeem withdrew from the bout due to injury and Verhoeven ended up defeating Jamal Ben Saddick in their trilogy.

Francis Ngannou Is Looking To Stop Ciryl Gane’s Meteoric Rise

Ngannou faces a former training partner in Gane after the two briefly were in the same gym together at MMA Factory in Paris, France. Gane and Ngannou both ended up finding success in the UFC’s heavyweight division, with Gane winning seven straight in the promotion and Ngannou knocking out Stipe Miocic for the title.

Gane has an unusually quick movement for a heavyweight. In his most recent win over Derrick Lewis for the interim title, he overwhelmed Lewis on the feet and earned the third-round TKO.

Ngannou will make his first title defense against Gane at UFC 270 and is looking to earn another highlight win to his impressive heavyweight run. He has shown improvements in his overall game since first signing with the UFC and will need to make adjustments to deal with Gane’s striking prowess.
