UFC president Dana White was underwhelmed despite the fact heavyweight prospect Ciryl Gane improved his undefeated record to 8-0 with ease against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Gane outpointed Rozenstruik over five rounds in a largely uneventful affair.

White was apparently unimpressed by what he saw in the UFC Vegas 20 main event.

The UFC boss was disappointed Gane had failed to capitalize on his “coming out party” and made that much clear to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.

“Everybody’s talking about Ciryl being this big contender, but look at what Francis Ngannou did to Jairzinho,” White wrote to Iole. “This was his coming out party and his chance to show the world who he is. He won, but let’s leave it at that. He won.”

Gane has since responded to White and other critics, he said.

“I can understand that,” Gane said. “He is the boss, and he wants to make money, so you want the guy marketable. The people want the show. They want the big KO. So yes, I don’t finish the fight. I tried, but I don’t do it. I can understand that (criticism), but I’m OK.”

Despite putting on an uneventful fight Gane is feeling good about his win.

“I think I did it well,” Gane said. “I managed the fight on the feet. I tried to go down. I did the takedown. I think I managed well the fight on the feet.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Former Light-Heavyweight champion Jon Jones shared some advice for Heavyweight’s Ciryl Gane and Jairzinho Rozenstruik during their main event clash at UFC Vegas 20.

In a Tweet Jones suggested they get used to pushing the pace in anticipation for his debut into the division later in 2021.

“These boys better get used to pushing the pace, all this standing around ain’t gonna fly when daddy comes home. #UFCVegas20”

This statement caught the attention of another Heavyweight in the form of upcoming title challenger Francis Ngannou who responded by mocking Jones’s comment.

In the main event at UFC Vegas 20, Ciryl Gane secured himself a shutout decision victory over the incredibly dangerous Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a fight that many felt was uneventful.

Following the fight, there are questions of what is next for the winner Gane, who has a connected past to the upcoming title challenger as they were former training partners. Also, fresh off his knockout victory at UFC Vegas 19, heavy hitter Derrick Lewis is also knocking on the door of the elusive heavyweight title shot himself.

While this win puts Gane in the top five of the division and on the shortlist of title contenders, the Heavyweight title is set to be decided in March when Stipe Miocic rematches Ngannou, however, the fate of the belt holder following this is already decided as UFC President Dana White has shared in the past that upon his debut Jones will get an immediate title shot.

Whether it be Stipe of Ngannou holding the title at the time this will be the fan’s first look at how Jones can perform at Heavyweight and if he is capable of dominating the division as he has done in the Light-Heavyweight division.

How do you see Jones performing when he finally debuts in the Heavyweight division later this year?

Still undefeated. Improving to 8-0 — Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane scores his fifth promotional victory, taking home a dominant unanimous judging win over monstrous striker, Jairzinho ‘Bigi Boy’ Rozenstruik.

A lot of feints and pops from the shoulders of Ciryl Gane to get the first round started, before he fires off a lightening fast southpaw jab — grabbing Rozenstruik’s attention, who as usual, looked to play counter. Decent left hand for Rozenstruik lands after he briefly catches a body kick attempt from Gane. Faking another body kick, Gane launched a solid straight right hand before closing the distance and clinching. Takedown secured for Gane, however, Rozenstruik retains his full guard before closure of the opening round. 10-9 Gane.

Patience opening to the second again from Gane while Rozenstruik continues to attempt to fire off counter shots. Rozenstruik then rushes forward with Gane level changing, circling and putting the Suriname native back on the fence before almost scoring a stunning outside trip takedown. Another 10-9 for Gane. Rozenstruik yet to find his mark with any substancial counters.

A tad more lively midway through the third with both Rozenstruik and Gane trading for a moment in the middle of the Octagon. Gane working well from his southpaw right side, bouncing well on the balls of his feet and mixing up his strikes. 10-9 again for Gane who is utilizing his movement well to evade some counters from Rozenstruik, although, they are coming few and far between.

Jump knee to the body for Gane finds it’s target on the right hand side of Rozenstruik’s midsection — with the latter still yet to get out of the starting blocks at all really here in the fourth. Another knee entry from Gane catches Rozenstruik just above the cup it seems, however, we get a brief stoppage in the action. Another 10-9 for Gane who scores a decent check left hook at the fence before the klaxon. Rozenstruik in need of a finish here.

Briefly taking Rozenstruik’s back in a less than eventful round, Gane took the final round with another 10-9 — scoring a dominant 50-45 unanimous decision victory.

Below, check out the highlights from Gane’s striking masterclass win over Rozenstruik.

IT’S TIME! The UFC Vegas 20 main event is finally upon us. Jairzinho Rozenstruik will take on Ciryl Gane over five rounds.

Round 1: Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane touch gloves – this heavyweight main event is underway. Rozenstruik throws a wild overhand that misses. Gane is light on his feet and cracks Rozenstruik with a powerful jab. That punch seems to have took a toll on Rozenstruik who is just standing in front of his opponent not doing a lot at the midway point of round one. Gane is being just as patient in fairness. Rozenstruik catches a leg kick and fires off a left hand that has Gane retreating. The Frenchman lands a big shot before dropping down for the takedown. He doesn’t land it but is able to clinch up against the fence. Gane eventually finishes the takedown. He ends round one in top position.

Round 2: Gane is popping out his jab and flicking out kicks at the start of round two. Rozenstruik is hesitant and seems happy to wait for the perfect punch. Gane lands a heavy low kick before going up top with a punch. He’s looking great through two rounds. Rozenstruik is starting to get after it now. He lands a couple of shots of his own. Gane pushes this fight to the fence. The French man just tosses his opponent to the mat. He tries to jump on the back for a choke but Rozenstruik shakes it off and they get back to the striking range. Not a lot landing from either men who stare at eachother until the horn sounds to end round two.

Round 3: Gane lands a powerful punch at the start of round three. He tries a kick up top but its blocked by Rozenstruik. Gane shoots in but is easily shrugged off. Rozenstruik tries to land on the break but misses bug. He’s starting to open up now. Gane is bouncing in front of him with his hands down. Gane is landing pop shots but not much else is happening – even the referee is getting bored and tells both men to engage more. An eye poke brings a momentary lapse in the action. We are quickly back underway and Gane is quickly back to landing pop shots. Rozenstruik flys forward and Gane ducks down for the takedown but the horns sounds before he’s able to complete it.

Round 4: Lots of low kick from Gane at the start of round four. Rozenstruik has been told by his corner to pursue the takedown – no sign of it through one minute. Gane continues to just pick apart his opponent. The Frenchman isn’t doing much but Rozenstruik is doing even less. Gane is doing a good job of mixing up his striking targets but he’s not throwing with much power. A low blow brings another halt to the action. Gane continues to put the pressure on. He lands a big left hand. Rozenstruik fires back but Gane just isn’t in range. This round comes to an end. It’s been all Ciryl Gane through 20 minutes.

Round 5: More of the same at the start of round five. Gane is pushing forward, landing pop shots. Rozenstruik is not doing anything at all. Gane tries to leap in with an elbow. It misses but he clinches up and makes it work for him. We are mid-way through round five now. It’s time for Rozenstruik to go for broke but he is not doing it. Gane is doing what he has done all fight. He’s pushing forward, landing the odd shot, and just doing enough. Neither man has been impressive in this fight. Gane clinches up against the fence. Herb Dean tells him to work. Rozenstruik tries to escape but gives up his back. Gane drags him to the mat but Rozenstruik quickly pops back up. The fight ends with Gane pressing Rozenstruik against the fence.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Ciryl Gane def. Jairzinho Rozenstruik via unanimous decision.
