Conor McGregor passionately vows to make UFC return amid fan worry I'll be back

With further footage of him partying at his Black Forge Inn over the course of this week following his withdrawal from a scheduled headliner at UFC 303 next weekend, former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor has vowed to come back to the Octagon – as fans and pundits express their concern.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the banner of the promotion, was slated to take main event honors at UFC 303 next weekend during International Fight Week, in a long-anticipated clash against Michael Chandler.

However, last week, the promotion confirmed McGregor had suffered an undisclosed injury, and was officially out of his return clash with Chandler next weekend at UFC 303, with Alex Pereira drafting in on short-notice to defend his light heavyweight throne against Jiri Prochazka.

As a result, fans have expressed their concern for the Dubliner – who had confirmed he had entered a period of sobriety before his fight with Chandler, before his representative denied allegations from UFC alum, Chael Sonnen that he had entered a rehabilitation facility for “substance abuse” issues.

Conor McGregor vows to make comeback amid injury

Despite concerns, McGregor posted on his own official social media – confirming to his fans that he would make a return to fighting after his injury setback.

'Iron' Michael Chandler posts cryptic message on social media signaling for potential BMF title fight

After missing out on a chance to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 303, ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler appears to be targeting the promotion’s baddest motherf*cker.

After nearly two years on the shelf, the former Bellator MMA champion was scheduled to step into the main event spotlight on June 29 for a long-awaited clash with the returning Irish megastar. Unfortunately, those plans were scrapped after it was revealed that McGregor sustained an injury, forcing him to bow out of the bout.

Recently, McGregor’s friend and training partner Peter Queally claimed that the fight would be rebooked for September. However, it looks like Chandler may already have his eyes on the UFC’s bragging rights belt and, more importantly, the man who’s carrying it around.

Michael Chandler

“Bravo. Mike. Foxtrot,” Chandler wrote on X.

Of course, ‘Iron’ is clearly using the phonetic alphabet to spell out BMF. He followed that up with another post on social media featuring his head superimposed on the body of Maximus Decimus Meridus, Russell Crowe’s character in the 2000 Best Picture winner, Gladiator.

Michael Chandler

“Blessed Man Forever,” Chandler wrote in the caption.

Will it be conor mcGregor or Max Holloway for Michael Chandler?

Currently, the BMF title resides with former featherweight champion Max Holloway. ‘Blessed’ captured the belt with an insane buzzer-beating KO of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in April.

As it stands, Holloway is primed for a title clash with the reigning 145-pound champion Ilia Topuria later this year, though no official announcement has been made by the UFC.

Are you interested in seeing Michael Chandler pivot to a BMF title fight with Holloway, or should the Missouri native continue to hold out for his red panty night with ‘Mystic Mac’?

Conor McGregor's PR team denies rehab allegations made by ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen

Representatives for Irish megastar Conor McGregor snapped back at a recent claim made by Chael Sonnen.

Originally scheduled to step back inside the Octagon at UFC 303 for a long-awaited clash with former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler, ‘Mystic Mac’ bowed out of the bout weeks ahead of fight night due to an undisclosed injury.

In the days following the news, Sonnen suggested that McGregor had withdrawn not because of an injury, but because he was in rehab.

“What an incredible irony that both sides have these massive interests in alcohol and one side is in the middle of rehab for substance abuse including alcohol,” Sonnen said. “Not that that has anything to do with this. Did it just get hot in here? Oh it just got hot in here. Oh, the big guy just came out and said it, he wasn’t supposed to talk about that.

“Two guys are pushing alcohol, totally unrelated story,” he continued. “And then another guy is in rehab for alcohol and other substances. I’m just saying, that’s a tough story to tell. Not for nothing, that gets to be a little bit tough. Have this proper drink, I’ll see you in a proper while, cuz I’m in a proper facility right now, watching me not have drinks” (h/t MMA Mania).

Chael Sonnen backtracks on ‘Rehab’ comments After Conor McGregor’s PR Team Gets Involved

As the story began to make headlines, Karen Kessler, a PR representative for the Irishman, made a statement to multiple outlets denying Sonnen’s claim.

“The fight was canceled after an injury he sustained during training,” Kessler told TMZ. “He is looking forward to a new date.”

In another statement made to the New York Post, Kessler said: “Mr McGregor is with his family — and any other reports are incorrect.”

Setting the record straight and likely looking to avoid a potential lawsuit, Chael Sonnen released a follow-up statement of his own.

“I do not know that Conor [McGregor] is in rehab, for one,” he said in a new video on YouTube. “For two, I would not begrudge or tease Conor in the least if he was in rehab. I would be very proud of Conor, and I would imagine for somebody in his spot, to go into rehab is something you want to keep quiet. To do that in Ireland, I would imagine that he would have needed to humble himself greatly.

“So first off, I don’t know that he’s in rehab. Secondly, if he is in rehab, that would be awesome. That would be good stuff.”

Conor McGregor's teammate reveals timeline for rescheduled scrap with Michael Chandler

Bellator MMA standout and Conor McGregor teammate Peter Queally has offered some insight into when we might see the Irish megastar step back inside the Octagon.

After nearly three years on the shelf, ‘Mystic Mac’ was scheduled to headline UFC 303 on June 29 opposite ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case after McGregor withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed injury.

Speaking with talkSPORT, Queally confirmed that he has some inside information on McGregor’s injury, though he refused to disclose those details. He did however offer fans a timeline for when we could see McGregor finally throw hands with the former Bellator champ.

“It seems like they will endeavor to make that fight in September time,” Queally said. “Something like that maybe. That’s what I’m hearing. That’s what you can look forward to if they can make it happen.”

Peter queally disappointed by conor McGregor’s sudden withdrawal

Having traveled the world with Conor McGregor and witnessing his rise to superstardom firsthand, Queally was gutted to learn about McGregor’s withdrawal from International Fight Week.

“I’m so disappointed. Obviously, I’m his friend,” Queally added. “You didn’t want to see a guy experiencing anything bad who you are friends or close with. Just as a fan, I was looking forward to going out, enjoying the week in [Las] Vegas, going to the fight, and taking in everything that is a Conor fight. There’s nothing like it on Earth. Anyone who hasn’t been to one, I’d save your pennies, go, and try to experience that. It’s pretty crazy. I’ve been lucky to have been at all of them.

“That’s what I was looking forward to and that’s what I’m most disappointed about. I just wanted to be involved again and experience that another time.”

While Queally has not booked his own return to the cage following a disappointing no-contest against Daniele Miceli at Bellator 299, ‘The Showstopper’ will be on the call this Saturday, June 22, when the Bellator Champions Series returns to 3Arena in Dublin.

Conor McGregor is sporting a new look as confusion once again surrounds his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

McGregor was scheduled to headline UFC 303 on June 29 against former Bellator champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler before bowing out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury. Now, fight fans will be treated to a light heavyweight championship rematch as Alex Pereira steps in on 16 days’ notice to defend his 205-pound crown against former titleholder Jiri Prochazka.

Pereira vs. Prochazka

Little information has been revealed regarding McGregor’s injury, but reports suggest that the promotion is looking to rebook the bout for August or September, leading many to believe that the injury wasn’t all that serious to begin with.

Following the unfortunate news, McGregor was spotted sporting a new look while spending Father’s Day with his family.

Now, the Irish megastar is giving fans an even closer look at his new do courtesy of a post on his Instagram.

Things didn’t go well the last time Conor mcGregor sported a shaved head inside the Octagon

It’s certainly not the first time Conor McGregor has rocked the shaved-head look. Going into his rematch with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, ‘Mystic Mac’ sported a trimmed-down dome.

Considering how that fight ended, he may want to let his hair grow out before rescheduling anything with Michael Chandler.
