Dana White covid

The UFC bossman himself, Dana White, and his entire family have tested positive for COVID-19.

White revealed the news on The Jim Rome Podcast, stating that he and his family were in isolation after testing positive for the virus despite at least him having the vaccine. He explained that they had gone to Maine to see family as a Thanksgiving tradition and contracted the virus there.

White then explained that while isolating, shortly after finding out he was positive, he followed the advice of UFC commentator, podcaster, and comedian Joe Rogan. Rogan has been a hot topic of discussion in recent months for the way he handled his own COVID-19 diagnosis. Using the likes of Ivermectin, monoclonal antibodies, and more, the UFC president said that his mild symptoms of the virus had passed within a day.

“We just went up to my place in Maine and for Thanksgiving. It’s tradition. We go up there, and somebody had it, and we get back, and we all tested positive for COVID. Literally, the whole family and my family up in Maine, too,” White said (h/t MMAJunkie).

“We got back on Saturday. On Sunday, I cold plunge and steam every day,” White said. “So I get out of the cold plunge and steam, and I spray the eucalyptus and I was like, ‘What the hell?’ I couldn’t smell anything. So I opened the bottle and start sniffing the bottle of eucalyptus, and I couldn’t smell and I was like, ‘I know what this means.’ I literally got out of the steam and got on my phone and called Joe Rogan.

“I get up, 9 o’clock Monday morning, and I get tested,” White continued. “He said get monoclonal antibodies in you as soon as possible, so I did. By noon, I had the monoclonal antibodies in me. Then he told me to do a NAD drip. I did that right after. The next day – so Sunday at 8 o’clock at night I have no taste or smell. I get up Tuesday getting ready to shave. Cleaning my razor, I could smell the alcohol. My taste and smell were back by the next day by 11 o’clock. Then I took a dose of ivermectin. Then yesterday I did a vitamin drip, and today I’m doing another NAD drip.

“Never felt better. I’m feeling like a million bucks. I’m doing two-a-day workouts for the next 10 days while I have COVID and I’m in quarantine. I got my smell and taste back in less than 24 hours.”

Of course, the primary concern is the health and safety of Dana White, and it is great to see that he is doing better and that the advice from Joe Rogan helped him. Whether you agree with those choices or not, everyone wants to see the same outcome, which is people recovering well if they do catch COVID-19.

Ian Heinisch

UFC Middleweight Ian Heinisch has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming bout at this weekends UFC 250 after a member of his team tested positive for the coronavirus.

Taking to twitter, TSN Sports Aaron Bronsteter shared the news that he had confirmed with multiple sources, however the tests were to be redone in order to confirm it was not a false positive.

Heinisch was scheduled to face Gerald Meerschaert in the preliminary card of the event. As stated the fight could very well stay together and continue ahead as planned should the tests come back clear.

At this point Meerschaert is confident he will continue to compete on Saturday, however, nothing has been shared in regards to an potential replacement for Heinisch however according to Raphael Marinho of Combate.com the UFC are looking into Anthony Ivy as a replacement to keep the bout on the card.

This would be Ivy’s debut in the UFC. The middleweight boasts a record of 8-2 entering the organisation on a five win streak all coming via finish.

Heinisch had a change in camp for this upcoming bout, moving his training from Factory X to Genesis MMA in Colorado.

Heinisch was set to return to the octagon for the first time in 2020 attempting to get back in the win column after back to back losses against Derek Brunson and Omari Akhmedov.

Meerschaert will be entering this bout coming off a submission victory of Deron Winn at UFC 248 in March.

At this stage while it would seem Heinisch is out he is still preparing to compete and continuing to cut weight so it is still to be determined weather the fight will remain together or not.

Who would you like to see face Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 250 should Heinisch remain unable?

UFC President Dana White dismissed recent criticism from The New York Times following a report they released regarding the promotions safety protocols in place at UFC Jacksonville.

The report broke down a UFC “Jacksonville Operations Plan” that it had received and exposed the failure of the UFC to comply with its own safety guidelines.

During the two events that have taken place at Jacksonville (UFC 249 & Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira) protocols within the plan were not followed such as requiring all UFC staff to wear protective gear, such as masks (something white) at all times. This was not followed as both fighters and commentators were shown without protective masks on at various stages throughout the week. Another big part of the plan that was abandoned was to have the octagon interviews done at a distance, not inside the octagon which is where they all took place over the past two events.

In a report by MMA Junkie, White was asked about the New York Times story to which he didn’t deny any of the facts reported instead shifting his focus to the author Kevin Draper.

“F*ck that guy. F*ck that guy, You know what happened with that guy? That guy who’s never covered the sport was writing a story about Endeavor (UFC’s parent company) and then the UFC was one of the Endeavor … you know. And what happened when this guy and this paper covered the UFC – when they’ve never covered it before? What do you think happened?

“This f*cking story was huge. They did killer traffic. Now they’re writing stories, three a week, and they’re posting live results. I don’t care what this guy thinks or what he has to say, what he writes. Good for him, he’s pulling traffic.”

MMA Junkie then continued to ask white his thoughts on how the article could affect the business to which he replied.

“I don’t give a f*ck, Don’t give a f*ck.”

The UFC plans to hold another event at the VyStar Veterans Memorial in Jacksonville this Saturday, it remains to see if they will make any changes to their protocol.

Daniel Cormier may have no choice but to call it a career.

Cormier, 41, is expected to have his retirement fight in a trilogy with Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title later this year. The fight was already being negotiated with plans for it to seemingly take place in the summer during International Fight Week.

However, with the coronavirus pandemic putting a halt to life around the world, things are a bit uncertain right now. UFC president Dana White plans to eventually resume the schedule soon but no one can tell what will happen in the next few weeks.

Regardless, Cormier hopes things settle down by the summer and his fight Miocic goes ahead:

“I don’t think it’s shifted too much,” Cormier said of the Miocic rematch to Bloody Elbow. “I think that we were looking at the summer, late summer, anyways. I think by late summer we should be getting back rolling as a country, as an organization.

“It affects the ability to go into the gym right now as I would be, but I don’t know the effects of that with some of these other things.”

Of course, if things don’t improve by then — which is also likely given recent reports — “DC” acknowledges he will probably have to retire.

“Yeah. This thing starts going to late fall, getting into the winter, there’s no way,” he added. “I’d be done. Yeah, I think it needs to happen by the summer.”

Hopefully, Cormier gets his retirement fight. But even if he doesn’t, he will still have a storied career and will go down as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Do you think Cormier will retire before getting his trilogy fight?

The coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to life for everyone around the world with mixed martial arts fighters being among the many drastically affected.

Former Strikeforce champion and current American Top Team (ATT) coach Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal has seen it firsthand as a number of fighters at the gym have had upcoming fights get postponed or canceled — all of which is affecting them mentally:

“It already started (messing with fighters),” Lawal told MMA Junkie Radio. “Right when it was said cards will be canceled for a while, fighters were wondering, ‘If I’m fighting in June, is that messed up? What about this?’ But June is two months from now. You got people with fights in June wondering if they’re going to be fighting. You have people also on the shelf looking for fights wondering, ‘Will I be on the shelf further, longer?’ So right now, everybody is in limbo.

“Last week, when everything was getting shut down, we had a team meeting last Tuesday or last Wednesday, and said, ‘Things are getting bad. We’re gonna shut the gym down for two weeks, then we’ll have a coaches’ meeting in two more weeks to see what we’re gonna do.’ I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be shut down another two weeks. That’s what I’m thinking. So right now everyone’s stir crazy.”

There are currently over 522,000 cases of coronavirus worldwide with the U.S. having over 74,000 of them at the time of writing.

It is naturally a very serious issue, however, some are ignoring the social distancing and quarantine suggestions while others believe the virus has been made out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. It doesn’t help that UFC fighters like Bryce Mitchell believe it’s a government creation, either.

For all the doubters, Lawal had a simple message:

“First of all, the coronavirus is very real for all ya’ll dumbass Trump supporters,” Lawal added. “Yes, it was real from the get-go. All you dummies posting, ‘Oh, H1N1, this is not that dangerous. We’ll survive like we survived SARS.’

“The COVID-19 virus is a version of SARS – severe acute respiratory symptom. Dummies, it’s real. That’s why Donald Trump went out and declared a state of emergency. It’s real. Y’all be safe, wash your hands.”

What do you make of Lawal’s comments?

Conor McGregor continues to do his part for the nation of Ireland amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The former two-weight UFC champion has been calling for Irish citizens to remain quarantined and follow all the social distancing guidelines that have been suggested. Most recently, he posted a video urging the Irish government to go into a “true lockdown” to combat the virus.

Irish politician Paschal Donohoe saw the video and reached out to McGregor thanking him for his message while at the same time stating that more must be done to encourage social distancing.

McGregor shared the DMs on Twitter in which he announced he would be purchasing over $1 million worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to hospitals in the Leinster province.

“Today I am purchasing myself, 1 million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region,” McGregor wrote. “Our most affected region, to this date.

“St. James. Mater, Tallaght, Beaumont. Vincent’s. Where we would be without these brave men and women? I do not know. May God bless over them and keep them safe!”

“The Notorious” also added that he felt the government should be doing more to enforce rules and keep the people safe.

“We need more units on the street to enforce this lockdown Pascal! It has been too lax! Building sites should be closed,” he added. “They are open for what? We can always build again after this. In every way. But, we must put Health before Wealth. I respect you, and your team and I believe you are doing as good a job as you possibly can. I have been impressed by all. As has the nation. I feel like we are moving in the right way, it just feels to me like it is not all the way.

“I urge all the way! ‘All in’ is the term we must use here. Bit by bit will cost us lives. To see what is happening here in Ireland and all across the entire globe, is heartbreaking to me. I pray. God speed Minister and thank you for the message, and your service to our nation.”

As of Tuesday, there are over 1,300 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland.

What do you make of McGregor’s pledge?
