Curtis Blaydes has given his thoughts on the latest goings-on surrounding UFC commentator and popular podcaster, Joe Rogan, who has found himself in hot water as of late.

Rogan first faced backlash for spreading what many believe to be COVID-19 misinformation on his show. More recently, he was forced to apologize after a compilation of him using a racial slur appeared online. The 54-year-old took to social media to say sorry for his past use of the word, he said.

“I know that, to most people, there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that word, never mind publicly on a podcast. And I agree with that now. I haven’t said it in years. But for a long time when I would bring that word up, like if it would come up in conversation, instead of saying ‘the n-word’ I would just say the word. I thought as long as it was in context, people would understand what I was doing.

“I never used it to be racist because I’m not racist, but whenever you’re in a situation where you have to say, ‘I’m not racist,’ you f*cked up. And I clearly have f*cked up.”

Curtis Blaydes Is Cool With Joe Rogan

Blaydes recently spoke with James Lynch of LowKickMMA about his feelings about the Rogan situation which he feels was a bit over the top.

“I believe it was a bit of overkill,” Blaydes said. “I think everyone wants to show how woke they are and it’s admirable. Like, I get it, but sometimes it’s not that big of a deal.

As a black man, Blaydes would prefer Rogan or any other white person avoids using the N-word but he understands that doesn’t always happen. So then, it becomes a case of asking, ‘Is this person trying to insult or offend me?’

“I don’t want Joe Rogan or really any Caucasians to use the N-word but I know it happens,” Blaydes said. “I know some people use it the same way I use, as a term of endearment or they are just saying it off a rap song. It’s all about how you say it. Like, are you intending on hurting my feelings?”

‘Razor’ thinks Rogan should stop using the word but says he holds no hard feelings towards the long-time UFC commentator as it’s clear he meant no harm.

“I think he was just using the word. He shouldn’t use the word again,” Blaydes concluded. “I don’t think he should be using it but I don’t think he’s racist and I don’t think he was intending on hurting anyone’s feelings. So, I’m not angry. I stay by Joe Rogan.”

Tackling Philadelphia native, Chris Daukaus in an impromptu UFC Columbus main event in two weeks’ time, perennial heavyweight contender, Curtis Blaydes has praised the boxing acumen of the contender, but insists he’ll likely find enough opportunities to land a knockout win inside just two rounds.

Blaydes, who sits as the #4 ranked heavyweight in the official division pile, rebounded from a thunderous uppercut knockout loss to Derrick Lewis back in September at UFC 266 – turning in a one-sided unanimous decision victory over heavy-hitting Suriname native, Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Curtis Blaydes holds wins over five former or current world champions

Replacing former light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz, and the streaking, Aleksandar Rakic in the Nationwide Arena headlining tilt – Juco national champion, Blaydes headlines for the fifth time in his Octagon tenure – while Daukaus nets his second straight headliner under the promotion’s banner.

Breaking down the stylistic matchup with the Philadelphia puncher, Blaydes pointed to the boxing ability of Daukaus as his main weapon to watch out for.

“I know he’s (Chris Daukaus) a good boxer,” Curtis Blaydes told LowKick MMA reporter, James Lynch. “He’s very orthodox, he doesn’t do a lot of crazy techniques. He believes in the basic, which is something I also believe in. I know he is also very good at Jiu-Jitsu, and I believe I’m the bigger – I’m faster, I’m more explosive. And obviously, I believe I’m the better grappler.”

As far as a route to victory is concerned for Illinois native, Blaydes, he believes within two rounds, he will have waned enough on Daukaus enough to set up an eventual knockout win.

“I win the first two rounds, I put the pressure on him, and he has to open up,” Curtis Blaydes said. And I catch him on the feet, so I believe I get the finish.”

15-3(1) as a professional, Elevation Fight Team staple, Blaydes has only suffered other professional losses to reigning division best, Francis Ngannou – turning in notable career wins over the likes of Alexey Oleynik, Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Junior dos Santos, and Alexander Volkov.

In his most recent outing, Daukaus suffered his first promotional loss – finding himself on the receiving end of a knockout defeat to the aforenoted common-foe, Lewis in December during the main event of UFC Vegas 44.

Curtis Blaydes has reacted to Cain Velasquez’s recent legal troubles.

The former UFC heavyweight champion is currently facing more than 20 years in prison after being charged with attempted murder and nine other offences following an incident in San Jose.

Velasquez was hit with those charges after allegedly firing a handgun into a truck occupied by Harry Goularte Jr along with two other people one of those being Goularte’s stepfather.

Goularte Jr was recently charged with molesting a close relative of Velasquez. The bullet struck Goularte’s stepfather however he is expected to survive the incident.

Velasquez is also accused of ramming his truck into the vehicle the suspected pedophile was occupying after chasing it down for 11 miles in what has been described as a high-speed car chase.

The 39-year-old former fighter was denied bail on Monday and he will remain in custody ahead of his next hearing on April 12. Judge, Shelyna Brown said the risk is “too great” after reviewing Velasquez’s “reckless” alleged actions.

Curtis Blaydes Reacts To Cain Velasquez’s Plight

In a recent interview with James Lynch of LowKickMMA, Blaydes reacted to everything that has been going on with Velasquez, he said.

“I get it. I have a daughter, I get it,” Blaydes said. “I would spaz but I wish he hadn’t done it because I know everyone is like ‘Free Cain’, he shouldn’t go to jail and I believe that morally he was in the right but we have laws in America.

“He has to get some type of time. You can’t just be like, ‘OK, you’re free.’ I wouldn’t be angry if they did that I just don’t think that’s going to happen,” Blaydes added.

“I wish he had better people around him, who would be like, ‘Yo, I get it but you can’t’. He needs someone to hold him down. I know he’s a big guy. I know he’s an ex-UFC heavyweight champion, but someone has to get into a fist fight with him in order to stop him from doing this. If that’s your homie, you’ve got to do it,” Blaydes concluded.

Do you agree with Curtis Blaydes? Must Cain Velasquez serve some time in jail despite the circumstances surrounding his recent legal issues?

UFC Columbus has itself a new main event and it’s Curtis Blaydes vs Chris Daukaus in a heavyweight showdown.

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz had to pull out of his fight with Alexander Rakic, a fight that was supposed to be the March 26 headliner. The UFC is now putting Blaydes vs Daukaus as the new main event for that card.

Initial reports of this move came from Ariel Helwani with mmajunkie.com confirming the booking later in the week. The UFC has yet to officially announce this fight as the headliner though.

Blaydes will be looking to get another win to get closer to that elusive title shot. He is coming off a win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik in September via unanimous decision.

This will also be the second time in a row that Chris Daukaus will headline a Fight Night card. The last time he was the main event was back in December against Derrick Lewis. He lost that fight via first round KO but was on a five-fight winning streak before that bout.

UFC Columbus is shaping up nicely after the announcement of this main event. Other notable bouts scheduled for this card include Amanda Ribas vs Michelle Waterson, Max Griffin vs Neil Magny, and Askar Askarov vs Kai Kara-France.

Who do you think comes away with a win in the main event of UFC Columbus? Curtis Blaydes or Chris Daukaus?

UFC heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus will square off as the new main event of the upcoming UFC Columbus card.

This was first reported by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

Blaydes is looking to continue his momentum after an impressive win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 264. Before that, he had lost via second-round knockout to Derrick Lewis last February.

Blaydes will face a tough challenge in Daukaus, who also is looking to get back on track after a knockout loss to Lewis. He had been on a five-fight winning streak before the defeat to Lewis, which was his first loss in the UFC.

Blaydes/Daukaus will take the place of a light heavyweight showdown between Jan Blachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic. It was the originally scheduled main event before Blachowicz was forced to withdraw with an injury. That matchup is expected to be re-booked for later this year.

Blaydes had recently called for a fight with former interim champion Ciryl Gane next, but it appears that Gane wants to take some time off after losing to Francis Ngannou at UFC 270. The matchup could still happen if Blaydes can get past Daukaus.

The UFC heavyweight title picture is a bit shaky at the moment as Ngannou is expected to miss a majority of 2022 after undergoing knee surgery. Some believe that the promotion will likely book another interim title bout as Ngannou recovers from his injury.

Blaydes vs. Daukaus won’t be the only intriguing fight on the card. A potential No. 1 flyweight contender bout between Askar Askarov and Kai Kara France will serve as the co-main event, and Michelle Waterson will make her return to the Octagon against Amanda Ribas.
