Tom Aspinall Aims to Convince Dana White of Jon Jones Fight: "Everyone wants to see it happen."

Tom Aspinall is coming for Jon Jones.

In July, Aspinall became the first fighter in more than a decade to defend an interim belt, putting his temporary heavyweight title on the line against Curtis Blaydes. Aspinall only needed 60 seconds to dispatch ‘Razor’ in the UFC 304 co-main event, both defending his gold and avenging the only loss of his UFC career.

Tom Aspinall

With the win, Aspinall appears to have everyone convinced that he’s the best heavyweight in the world.

Well, everyone except Dana White.

Recently, the UFC CEO has been talking up his undisputed heavyweight king, dubbing Jon Jones the No. 1 P4P best fighter on the planet and suggesting that anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn’t know their ass from their elbow.

Jon Jones and Dana White

While Aspinall has the utmost respect for his boss, the Salford, England native is eager to prove “the best combat sports promoter ever” wrong and hand ‘Bones’ the first legitimate loss of his career.

“This week, actually, we’ve got a cracking video coming out,” Aspinall said via his YouTube channel. We’re going to clap back, clapping back… We’re after Jon Jones. We want the Jon Jones fight around here. We’re trying to make it happen. Fans want to see it happen. Everyone wants to see it happen. Apparently, according to Mr. Dana White, the CEO, the main dog, the best — not even mixed martial artist promoter — the best combat sports promoter ever is saying that Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound No.1.

“How do I feel about that? How do I feel about fighting the pound-for-pound No.1 in the world? Make sure you like and subscribe. You’re going to find out this week. I’m going to reply to Dana White. I’m going to reply to Jon Jones. And we’re coming for you, man. Jon Jones, we are coming for you on the channel — not just on the channel, we’re coming for you in the Octagon, as well” (h/t Sportskeeda).

Dana White expects jon jones to stick around and fight Tom Aspinall

Unfortunately, Aspinall is going to have to remain patient if he really wants to share the Octagon with Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ is expected to make his long-awaited return on November 9 when the promotion heads back to Madison Square Garden for UFC 309. There, he will put his undisputed heavyweight world title on the line for the first time when he meets former two-time champion Stipe Miocic.

Chances are, Miocic is going to retire from the sport, win or lose. Jones, on the other hand, will likely stick around long enough to test himself against Aspinall, so says Dana White.

“After Stipe and Jon fight, whoever wins, the Aspinall fight is even bigger… Jon Jones always loves to challenge himself, moved up to heavyweight. I don’t know what Jon Jones will do after this fight, but I would be shocked if he didn’t want to test himself against Aspinall,” White told Kevin Iole.

A UFC fight appeared to break out at the venue that hosted last night’s PFL Playoffs event, as ranked middleweight contenders Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori went at it — just not in the cage.

The scuffle took place on the casino floor of the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, immediately following the PFL card.

There were multiple reports and videos that flooded social media in the immediate aftermath, but MMA Mania’s Alex Behunin brought out the clearest report. According to him, Vettori swung and missed at UFC light heavyweight Tuco Tokkos.

Michael Johnson tried to step in to move everyone away, but Allen connected with a one-two on Vettori, dropping him to the casino floor.

Video of the incident can be seen below:

UFC CEO Dana White appeared to see the footage and decided to use the opportunity to take a light-herted jab at his rival promotion.

“Had to be fight of the night if it was at PFL,” White wrote.

Allen and Vettori were originally scheduled to square off in the main event of UFC Vegas 90 in April before Vettori pulled out of the fight due to injury. Since then, however, the two have continuously exchanged harsh words to one another.

Allen instead rematched and defeated Chris Curtis in that main event. The win was Allen’s seventh in a row, and he is scheduled to face Nassourdine Imavov in Paris next month.

Vettori, a former middleweight title challenger, has lost three of his last five. He has not fought since June of last year, dropping a decision to Jared Cannonier.

Michael Chandler Agrees to Face Conor McGregor in December

Will they fight? Will they not? That seems to be the never-ending question surrounding Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.

Originally, the two were expected to tussle on June 29 in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the fight never came to fruition after ‘Mystic Mac’ suffered a broken pinky toe weeks out from his long-awaited return. Since then, McGregor has remained adamant that he would still fight before the end of 2024, with December being the target.

However, Dana White seemingly poured cold water on McGregor’s plans, claiming at a recent press event that McGregor would not fight this year. That prompted the Irishman to go on social media and practically beg the UFC CEO for the December date.

“THE UFC LOVE AND WANT ME FOR DECEMBER! I AM READY,” McGregor wrote on X.

Michael Chandler agrees to December date with McGregor after being ready to move on

Caught up in all the drama is Chandler, who’s been more than patient while waiting for his red panty night.

It finally seemed as though the former Bellator champion was ready to move on, suggesting that a rematch with Charles Oliveira could come in place of his clash with the former two-division titleholder.

Well, now it seems like we’re back at square one with Chandler agreeing to a December date with the Irish megastar.

Chandler on Conor McGregor fight in December

“December it is,” Chandler wrote before adding the handshake emoji.

So again we ask, are they or are they not fighting? Perhaps the better question at this point is, doesn’t anyone still care?

It’s been more than three years since Conor McGregor has competed inside the Octagon. By the time he actually does fight, it’ll be closer to four. Chandler himself isn’t too far behind with his last fight coming against Dustin Poirier all the way back in November 2022.

If his showdown with McGregor does happen in December, he will have eclipsed more than two years on the shelf.

Dana White has since walked back his “not this year” comment, but remains coy on whether or not we’ll actually see McGregor compete this year, or ever again.

Dana White spurns Tom Aspinall, doubles down on Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic title fight

UFC CEO, Dana White has once more claimed Tom Aspinall must lay in wait despite his constant calls for a title unification fight next – insisting that fellow champion, Jon Jones will first off face off against former gold holder, Stipe Miocic before the end of the year.

Aspinall, the current interim light heavyweight champion, most recently co-headlined UFC 304 at the end of last month in Manchester, landing his first defense of the interim crown in a one-sided first round knockout win over Curtis Blaydes. The victory saw Atherton native, Aspinall avenge his sole Octagon defeat in the promotion.

Jon Jones

As for Jones, the fellow heavyweight champion has been sidelined since he returned to make a long-mooted heavyweight bow back in March of last year, managing to scoop the vacant divisional crown.

Laying waste to former interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane in his return to action, Rochester native, Jon Jones submitted the French contender with ease in the opening round to win vacant spoils in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dana White backs Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic before Tom Aspinall hunt

And preparing for a return at UFC 309 in November in the main card of the Madison Square Garden event, Jones is gearing up for a grudge fight with consensus heavyweight great, Miocic – with White backing the pairing in favor of a title unification bout featuring Aspinall.

“When you say Jon Jones versus Tom Aspinall, does that mean we’re saying Stipe (Miocic) doesn’t deserve the fight?” Dana White toild Yahoo! Sports. “I mean, this fight was supposed to happen, Jon’s got injured and Stipe has paid his dues and has been here forever.”

“My job is to make the biggest fights I can possible make,” White explained. “I know everybody wants to see Aspinall but those two are gonna fight and whoever wins, hopefully, Aspinall is next and they’re gonna give Aspinall the opportunities they got when they were in their young careers to get to where they are today.”

‘"He was blowing me up’: Dana White Changes Tone on Conor McGregor, 2024 fight Possible

UFC CEO, Dana White has now claimed former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor was more than disappointed by claims he would not be fighting before the end of the year – now insisting a potential December return for the Dublin was possible.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight champion and featherweight titleholder, has been out of action for the last three years, most recently fracturing his left tibia and fibula in a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

And slated to return in the main event of UFC 303 at the end of June during International Fight Week, McGregor was forced to withdraw from a welterweight comeback fight against Michael Chandler, fracturing a toe on his left foot – ruling him from the pairing.

Earlier this week, however, amid links to a UFC 310 rescheduled pairing with Chandler at the end of the year, White claimed that he had no plans for the Crumlin counter striker to feature before 2024 was over – to his disappointment.

“We talked, we talked,” Dana White said of Conor McGregor following the Contender Series. “We didn’t meet up but we talked, and yeah, he wants to fight. So, we’ll figure it out. Not this year. He won’t fight this year.”

Conor McGregor return possible claims Dana White

“Ah Dana, December is the date!” Conor McGregor posted on his official X account. “Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what’s this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!”

However, overnight, White has now claimed McGregor’s return before the close of the year may be a possibility after all,

“You can imagine after I said that, Conor was blowing me up, ‘I’m definitely fighting this year,’” White told Sportsnet during a recent interview. “When we get to a point where we are setting up a fight and I believe a Conor McGregor fight is gonna happen, I will announce it. As of right now, I do not believe Conor will fight this year. Conor’s saying he wants to fight in December, we’ll see how it plays out.”

Hawk Tuah girl Jon Jones

Internet star Hawk Tuah Girl, AKA Haliey Welch, took some Muay Thai classes and now has called out Jon Jones, UFC heavyweight champion. The internet meme has also shouted for UFC president Dana White to give her a fight contract.

Hawk Tuah Girl Wants Jon Jones

Hawk Tuah Girl rose to fame in mid-2024 when during a street interview about moves in bed, she said, “You gotta give him that hawk tuah and spit on that thang.” She became a trending meme and Haliey Welch was sought out by various MMA fighters including Conor McGregor. Recently, she has been spotted ringside at Jake Paul boxing events and Karate Combat. She even called out pop singer JoJo Siwa for a fight.

Recently on Instagram, where she boasts over 2 million followers, she posted a video of her training in Muay Thai, hitting the pads. This was with Kru Al Lanier, a Muay Thai coach at the Renzo Gracie gym. The caption reads:

[DANA WHITE] WHERE’S MY CONTRACT?!?!?! Thanks Coach AL for the Muay Thai lesson

After training, she felt ready to challenge for the UFC heavyweight throne against all-time great Jon Jones, she said:

This S*** is not for the weak … Jon Jones, where you at motherf***er?

While we don’t have exact measurements for Haliey Welch’s weight and height, given her confidence, we can safely assume that she would be a formidable threat to Jon “Bones” Jones at 6’4″ and 250 lbs. The US-born Jones, who has been a staple of the UFC for more than a decade, has yet to respond to Hawk Tuah Girl’s threats.
