A classless fan marred what could very well have been the final wrestling match of Jordan Burroughs’ career.

Burroughs, who owns the U.S. wrestling record with seven combined Olympic and world championships, was eliminated from the U.S. Olympic trials on Friday after falling 3-0 to Jason Nolf in the freestyle 74kg division at Penn State University.

As Burroughs was leaving the mat for potentially the last time in his illustrious career, a fan in attendance shouted “career is over” prompting Burroughs to turn back. Burroughs can be seen saying something to the idiotic fan before walking away without further incident.

Accomplished wrestler and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier was infuriated by the clip, referencing another incident featuring an unruly fan at UFC 300 earlier this month.

“What a piece of trash this guy is,” Cormier wrote on X. “To yell go home to a guy who’s represented our country the right way for 13 years/ 7 world or Olympic titles is insane. This is why Arman punched that fan. People behave with no consequence. This dude possibly wrestled last match of his career and this is what you give him?

“I love how manning jumped to his guys defense. Sometimes I am so lost in the way people act. It’s mind boggling. JB you’re still the man. Time gets us all. Also Jason Nolf is a dog!”

Veteran UFC referee Marc Goddard also chimed in on social media, displaying his disdain for the distasteful comment.

Jordan Burroughs

“Absolutely despicable,” Goddard posted. “For someone as accomplished & revered as JB to hear this POS say that. Same as online anonymity, this is what certain people think they can get away with in a world of no consequence. Would they do the same in less public setting? We all know the answer.”

It remains to be seen if Jordan Burroughs will pursue a career in mixed martial arts with his wrestling career now in the rearview. In a 2021 interview, Burroughs said that he was “not really interested in doing” MMA, but his tune has changed a bit in more recent years.

Alternatively, he could go the route of another Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, and make the move to sports entertainment. Burroughs was showcased in the crowd during WWE’s WrestleMania XL event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, being introduced by long-time play-by-play man Michael Cole.

UFC 300 set to feature its commentary A-team for historic Pay-Per-View event in Las Vegas

As the Ultimate Fighting Championship closes in on its massive UFC 300 card in Las Vegas, broadcasting details regarding the historic event are beginning to emerge.

UFC 300 is scheduled to feature 13 epic fights with 12 current or former world champions set to take center stage — none bigger than Alex Pereira who puts his light heavyweight championship on the line against ex-titleholder Jamahal Hill in the 205-pound headliner.

UFC 300

Being touted as the biggest card in the promotion’s 30+ year history, it should come as no surprise that the UFC is busting out its A-team for the impending broadcast. UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik will be at the helm according to a report from MMA Fighting. Joining him will be longtime color commentator Joe Rogan and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.

UFC 300 broadcast team

As expected, the “Veteran Voice of the Octagon” Bruce Buffer will handle fighter walkouts and official announcements. Joining the broadcast will be the UFC’s chief roving reporter, Megan Olivi, handling backstage duties. Former fighter Din Thomas will also be on hand to offer up his unique take on the action from time to time.

At the analyst desk will be three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen and top-10 ranked 205’er Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith. They will be joined by Boxing icon Teddy Atlas to offer their take on the night’s action.

Chael Sonnen will be part of the UFC 300 broadcast

In addition to UFC 300’s light heavyweight title scrap, fans inside T-Mobile Arena and those watching around the world will also see reigning strawweight champion Zhang Weili put her title on the line in an all-Chinese clash with Yan Xiaonan in the evening’s co-main event.

And in a fight appropriately dubbed as “the people’s main event,” BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje puts his bragging rights belt on the line against former 145-pound king Max Holloway.

Daniel Cormier set to quit NCAA commentary gig amid backlash from fans Guys I'm out

After being ridiculed online for his NCAA wrestling commentary, Daniel Cormier has decided to hang up the gloves and says he will not be returning in the future to commentate.

A decorated wrestler and former UFC double champion, one would expect Cormier to be a perfect fit as an NCAA wrestling commentator. However, many fans blasted ‘DC’ online for his performance on the mic, and this, combined with other factors, would seemingly be the breaking point for the former double champ.

“DC is painful,” one wrestling fan wrote on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter. “He has no professionalism on the mic to the point of it being ridiculous.”

Cormier would eventually respond, with not one, but two posts. “You guys have it.” he began. “I am out sorry to ruin your experience! You know I don’t ask to do this. Very important people ask me to do it. Anyhow carry on, my friend, I am out. Back to the minor leagues for me.”

“Guys, I’m out,” Cormier continued. “This will be my last time doing the NCAA tournament. Continue to do things the same way and stay wrestling that hasn’t changed since the 40’s. I told the general public to watch, (and) a guy told me he’d rather tear his eyes out than watch. So enjoy. I’ll finish tonight, and I’m out!”

Another fan chimed in that Daniel Cormier also receives a lot of hate due to his UFC commentary, and he had a slightly different retort, stating that he gets paid a lot to do what he does for the UFC.

A Brief Look at Another Commentator who recently Came under fire

MMA fans seem to never fail to find a commentator to criticize. After the UFC event last Saturday, on March 23rd, a female commentator named Laura Sanko was criticized by a former MMA fighter named Jamie Varner. Varner claimed that Sanko had no idea what she was talking about, as she was never a fighter and needed to “stay in her lane”. However, he ended up making himself look very foolish, as Sanko had not only actually trained before, but she had also fought on the same fight card as Varner back in 2011 for Titan FC.

Unlike the Daniel Cormier situation, fans came to Sanko’s aid and defended her honor, blasting Varner for his lackluster career and ignorant comments. Unfortunately, this type of behavior is nothing new for Varner. He last gained notoriety for launching a tirade on Twitter after the Super Bowl, claiming that the NFL was rigged.

Do you think some of the hate that commentators like Daniel Cormier and Laura Sanko receive is unfair?

Daniel Cormier hits out at Nate Diaz over UFC 306 return feud we're not in the same stratosphere

UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Daniel Cormier has hit back at former lightweight title challenger, Nate Diaz amid their ongoing feud over a potential return for the latter at UFC 306 in September – with the ex-duel-weight titleholder claiming Diaz is not in the same “stratosphere”.

Cormier, a former undisputed heavyweight and light heavyweight gold holder under the promotion’s banner, shared his thoughts on a potential Octagon return in September at the Las Vegas Sphere for a once-off event – billed as UFC 306 during Mexican Independence Day weekend.

And questioning if The Ultimate Fighter victor should even headline the event amid his interest in featuring at UFC 306 in a return to the promotion, Daniel Cormier revealed he had no interest in seeing Diaz fight in September.

“While the name value is exciting, Nate Diaz the fighter isn’t that guy anymore,” Daniel Cormier said. “He’ll get mad at me, and he might say something to me when i see him. I don’t know, I don’t really care. But we have to tell the truth. This isn’t the guy that beat Conor the first time. Nate has had moments. Against Leon Edwards, he had a moment. But outside of that, he got beat on the whole time.”

“Will I watch him on the pay-per-view card? Absolutely,” Cormier continued. “But to be the headliner, with all these great fighters that are deserving of that spot? I don’t think so. I don’t need to see that.”

And hitting out at Cormier’s comments, Diaz questioned the fighting ability of the ex-UFC champion, which the former immediately refuted.

“The reality is, one thing we will not do is compare myself to Nate Diaz, because it’s different levels,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “Much different. I’m a champion. Two weight classes. I lost three times in my career. Four if you count the fight that was called a no-contest. Four times, two guys. We are on much different wave lengths, we are on much different planets.”

“We are not in the same stratosphere in terms of fighters,” Cormier explained. “We’re not. And it’s time for me to stop allowing people to attack or come at me in these ways when I’m doing my job.”

Daniel Cormier unsure of UFC 306 fight for Nate Diaz I don't need to see that

Former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier claims he has no interest in watching promotional veteran, Nate Diaz making his return in a main event at UFC 306 in September at the Las Vegas Sphere – claiming he doesn’t “need to see” the Stockton veteran headline the card.

Diaz, a former undisputed lightweight title challenger and Ultimate Fighter victor under the promotion’s banner, has been sidelined from mixed martial arts since he headlined UFC 279 in a reworked clash against former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson.

And bowing out of his Octagon deal off the back of a win, Diaz turned in a stunning fourth round rallying win over the Oxnard veteran, in the form of a guillotine choke success.

Making a professional boxing debut back in August of last year, Stockton veteran, Diaz suffered a decision loss to the outspoken puncher, Jake Paul, which included a pivotal knockdown against him in the twelfth and final frame.

Appearing interested in a slot on a slated UFC 306 card at the Las Vegas Sphere during Mexican Independence Day later this year, Diaz claimed he had no interest in fighting on a monumental UFC 300 card in April anymore.

Daniel Cormier scoffs at UFC 306 fight for Nate Diaz

However, as far as former undisputed heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, Cormier is concerned, Diaz should be nowhere near a headlining tilt on an apparent once-off showcase at the Las Vegas Sphere.

“While the name value is exciting, Nate Diaz the fighter isn’t that guy anymore,” Daniel Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “He’ll get mad at me, and he might say something to me when i see him. I don’t know, I don’t really care. But we have to tell the truth. This isn’t the guy that beat Conor the first time. Nate has had moments. Against Leon Edwards, he had a moment. “Will I watch him on the pay-per-view card? Absolutely,” Cormier continued. “But to be the headliner, with all these great fighters that are deserving of that spot? I don’t think so. I don’t need to see that.”

And reacting to Cormier’s comments, Diaz poked fun at the Lafayette native’s initial KO loss to two-fight rival, Jon Jones, before labelling him a “b*tch” on his official X account.

“This b*tch is not a fighter,” Nate Diaz posted. “Complete opposite. Good talk, DC.”
