This UFC Fight Night 110 bout is going to be the fight in the middle weight category that everyone is going to have their eyes on. Derek Brunson will be making the trip to New Zealand to fight Daniel Kelly who is from Australia and is only a short flight away from Auckland. Will being close to home work as an advantage to Daniel Kelly?
If the recent past is anything to go by, then Kelly certainly has a very strong chance at taking Brunson out. Kelly has been put up repeatedly against fighters who were touted as favorites and Kelly has proved the bookies wrong each and every time. Despite being the underdog in all of his past fights, Kelly has still emerged victorious time and again. Kelly is a four time Olympian and that really shows in his grappling game. He is very technical and looks comfortable when the fight hits the floor.
However, make no mistake, Brunson is no couch potato. Brunson himself can pack a punch even a heavy weight would be proud of. Furthermore, he does have a wrestling background too and so he is not bad himself when it comes to grappling. He is well rounded and uses techniques from both boxing and wrestling. He is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Yet again, Kelly is going to find that he is the underdog. However, that hasn’t deterred Kelly in the past. Brunson, on the other hand, is considerably better than any of Kelly’s past opponents. He is more athletic and can really put an end to the fight if he can get one hit through. While Kelly will be looking to stay defensive and take the fight to the mat the first chance he gets.
Prediction – Brunson can take this by technical knockout
