Carlos Hernandez scored a brutal knockout against Denys Bondar in the very last second of their highly entertaining three-round war at UFC Vegas 75 though it didn’t come without a healthy dose of controversy.
Mere seconds away from the final bell of the bout, Hernandez landed a big takedown, but in the process, his head connected with Bondar’s and clearly had Bondar compromised. From there, Hernandez unleashed a series of vicious elbows that were completely uncontested, with the referee content to stand by and look on as the onslaught ensued. With one second left in the fight, the referee finally stepped in and called for the stoppage.
Initially, the bout appeared to be a knockout in favor of Hernandez, but due to the accidental head clash, the bout was stopped with one second to go leaving the judges to determine the winner via a technical decision.
Official Result: Carlos Hernandez def. Denys Bondar via unanimous technical decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

The war in Europe continues to take a toll on innocent lives. Russian military attacks on Ukrainian land have taken hundreds of lives and left many people homeless.
Thankfully, Bondar and his family were unharmed in the attack. But they are now without a home and with the gym also destroyed, it leaves a lot of questions for the new UFC fighter.
Fighters from Russia and Ukraine carry a heavy burden at this time. Sanctions continue to grow against Russian athletes; meanwhile, Ukrainian athletes that are away from their native country likely live in fear and worry as their families are devastated by the crisis.
“Psycho” Bondar’s MMA career is an absolute astonishment. At just 29-years-old, Denys Bondar has made incredible strides in the world of MMA.
The flyweight has racked up 10 submissions and 4 knockouts in his 17 professional fights and became the WWFC champion in 2019, a stellar résumé that began in 2015.
His amateur career is impressive, as well—14 fights, only 2 losses. In comparison, Bondar has four losses in his professional track, which includes his recent loss at his UFC debut.
It is likely the loss did not dampen his fighting spirit. However, in lieu of recent events, there is much uncertainty surrounding the fighter’s future.
Hopefully, Bondar, his family, and fellow gym members will remain safe during this time as they figure out where to pick up the pieces.

Despite startling brightly against Malcolm Gordon, flyweight promotional newcomer, Denys Bondar saw his promotion bow cut short just over a minute into the opening round — appearing to dislocate his left elbow during a grappling scramble to open the UFC Vegas 47 card.
Ukraine-born prospect, Bondar secured an underhook with his right arm whilst wrestling with Gordon, however, once the bout landed on the Octagon canvas, the now-16-4 challenger got his left arm trapped beneath him and the Octagon fence as he attempted to adjust.
In quite the awkward position from the bottom, Bondar, who was riding a 10=fight winning streak in to his UFC bow, quickly tapped as referee, Mark Smith called a halt to the contest, with Bondar appearing to have suffered a dislocation of his left elbow.
