Derek Brunson is the latest to poke fun at Conor McGregor‘s failed first pitch at a baseball game.

McGregor recently went viral after his pitch went miles off target at Wrigley Field in Chicago before a game between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers.

And the UFC middleweight contender decided to take a light hearted shot at McGregor’s attempt with a recent video which you can watch below:

Hopefully, McGregor doesn’t have a fit if he does come across Brunson’s post. Especially given how he reacted to comparisons with rapper 50 Cent.

“The audacity to compare mine with this piss! Picture to picture alone buries this, McGregor wrote on Instagram alongside a meme of the two bad first pitches. “Mine, bar the accuracy, was the most powerful and fastest first pitch of any of these other athletes/ artist over the years. No comparison. Smoke them up and down that Forbes I do. Get Messi over. Smoked. Cris. Smoked. Federer. Doubled. All time Most Power! Put me in the Wrigley hall of fame for that rocket launch. Beside some of that nice red brick. Mahogany Oak Frame. Wimbledon lines in the grass. The great Wrigley Field reminds me of the grounds on my land in Ireland. Impeccable. Anyway back to the pitch.. Venom. Composure. Balance! The gold bar of Patek almost came flying off me it was that fast and powerful. I’d take it back to @patekphilippe for adjusting but this watch is now discontinued. A rare. I Bought for 80k in Weirs jeweler of Ireland and today it is worth close to 500k. And going up. Fifty has a nice hublot too. Big Bang. Small bucks 50cent. One has power. One is the director of media relations for some show called power.
You know what it is. The Mac in Chicago! @tidlsport #tidltour”

The middleweight title eliminator between Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier has been moved to UFC 271 on February 12.

ESPN was the first to report the new date for the bout. The event is set to be headlined by Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker and is scheduled to take place in the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Barring the unexpected, this match will be widely viewed as a #1-contender bout to determine who faces the winner of Adesanya/Whittaker 2, with one of the two men potentially acting as a replacement option for the main event.

Both Brunson and Cannonier have compelling arguments for a title shot. In Brunson’s case, he is currently riding an impressive five-fight winning streak, including most recently finishing former UFC title challenger Darren Till in September. For Cannonier, he was victorious in a bout in August in defeating Kelvin Gastelum, thus making it four wins out of his last five fights.

With this adjustment, here is the updated lineup for UFC 271:

UFC Middleweight Championship Bout: Israel Adesanya(c) vs. Robert Whittaker

Jared Cannonier vs. Derek Brunson

Alex Perez vs. Matt Schnell

Alexander Hernandez vs. Renato Moicano

Roxanne Modafferi vs. Casey O’Neill

Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Sergey Morozov

Mark Madsen vs. Vinc Pichel

Fabio Cherant vs. Carlos Ulberg

Orion Cosce vs. Mike Mathetha

Maxim Grishin vs. Ed Herman

Ronnie Lawrence vs. Mana Martinez

AJ Dobson vs. Jacob Malkoun

Who do you think will emerge victorious in this middleweight title eliminator between Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier?

A middleweight match-up with title implications between Jared Cannonier and Derek Brunson will take place at UFC 270 on January 22 according to a report from MMA Junkie.

Brunson has won five straight fights since suffering a TKO loss to Israel Adesanya in 2018. Most recently, he put on a dominant display to take out Darren Till inside three rounds at UFC Vegas 36. Prior to that, he picked up big wins over Kevin Holland and Edmen Shahbazyan.

The 37-year-old took to social media to announce he’d signed a fight contract but stopped short of announcing who his opponent is.

“BIG FIGHT news . I got the fight I wanted . I sent that contract back in 30 secs,” Brunson wrote on Twitter.

Cannonier re-established himself as a player at 185lbs when he beat Kelvin Gastelum over five rounds in August. Prior to that, he suffered a three-round decision defeat to Robert Whittaker, who now seems set to an eagerly anticipated rematch with ‘Stylebender’ for UFC gold in the near future.

UFC 270 has not been officially announced yet and no other fights are set for the card. Dana White did previously suggest that he is hoping to book a middleweight title fight for January, which would indicate Adesanya vs. Whittaker II could headline the card that will also see a new 185lb number one contender announce themselves.

Who do you think will win at UFC 270? Jared Cannonier or Derek Brunson?

Derek Brunson Tries to Entice Jake Paul Into A UFC Fight

Derek Brunson is the latest on a long list of MMA fighters calling out Jake Paul, but he has a different idea.

Derek Brunson is looking for the biggest fights possible. He has been calling for a title shot against Israel Adesanya but could be entertaining a different opponent. After he was called out by YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul, he seems interested. Paul is a huge draw and a fight with him brings big money, but Brunson isn’t ready to just jump into a boxing match. He has a new kind of idea to bargain with Paul.

“Blonde Brunson doesn’t lose,” Brunson wrote on Twitter. “I adapt to any environment. I outsmart & outwit then brutalize fighters. @jakepaul come to the @ufc
for one fight, we can make whatever rules you want in a contract, then I’m sure
@danawhite will loan me for a boxing match!”

Paul has been making it a rule up to this point to only face MMA fighters in the boxing ring. Although Paul has expressed that he was ready to move on from retired UFC fighter, he may just be moving to current fighters. Brunson wants to make the battle more even by inviting Paul into a UFC bout first.

The likelihood that Paul will take Brunson’s challenge is unlikely. Just as unlikely is the fact that Dana White will let a fighter out of their contract to go and box. White and Paul have had their issues and arguments in the past. White letting Paul in the UFC for one fight is a slim option at any point.

Those MMA fighters who have faced Paul say that it is the most money they have ever made in a fight. If that is truly the case then who can blame Brunson for trying?

Do you think Brunson should be trying for a fight with Paul, or continue to try for a UFC title shot?

Derek Brunson Responds To Jake Paul’s Callout: ‘I’d Cook You’

Derek Brunson has responded to Jake Paul after the undefeated boxer seemingly called him out.

After Paul defeated Tyron Woodley by decision, the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer called out Jorge Masvidal and told Dana White to give “Gamebred” permission. However, White told Paul to fight someone his own size so he called out Brunson.

“Dana admitted this morning that I would destroy “170” pound Masvidal. So Dana will you give Brunson permission to make some real money? Dana?” Jake Paul posted on Twitter.

Now, to no surprise, Brunson responded to Paul as the middleweight contender said earlier he would be open a tune-up fight against the undefeated boxer. Despite being known as a wrestler, Brunson believes he would be able to beat Paul in a boxing match.

“When Hannah Montana’s boyfriend meets Blonde Brunson . This ain’t Disney @jakepaul I’d cook you,” Brunson wrote.

Although Derek Brunson seems interested in boxing Jake Paul, it’s highly unlikely it will happen. Brunson is currently under UFC contract and White has made it clear he has no interest in letting current UFC fighters take a boxing match against Paul as White and the 24-year-old have a feud and don’t seem like they will work together despite Paul wanting to.

As for Brunson, he’s coming off a dominant submission victory over Darren Till to extend his winning streak to five. Before the win over Till, he earned a decision win over Kevin Holland and a TKO win over Edmen Shahbazyan where many expected Brunson to lose those fights. He also beat Ian Heinisch and Elias Theodorou by decision. He has made it clear he will wait for the title shot and hopes to rematch Israel Adesanya as his last loss actually was to the champ at UFC 230 as Adesnaya scored a first-round TKO win.

Jake Paul Considering Derek Brunson Fight After Opponent Size Critiques

Jake Paul has recently caught wind of UFC president Dana White’s comments regarding the size of his opponents and he’s now somewhat interested in a boxing match with a similar-sized fighter: UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson.

Paul is fresh off of easily the most impressive win and toughest test of his young boxing career as he defeated former UFC welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley, by split decision. Despite getting rocked early in the fight and nearly finished, he was able to survive and deal the most damage in the later rounds to edge out Woodley.

After White’s recent comments concerning a possible Paul vs. Jorge Masvidal boxing fight, in which he pointed out Masvidal’s small frame, Paul put out the idea of making Brunson his next opponent.

“Dana White admitted this morning that I would destroy “170” pound [Jorge Masvidal],” Paul tweeted. “So Dana, will you give [Derek Brunson] permission to make some real money? Dana?”

Paul and Masvidal have a lot of history with each other after Masvidal briefly trained with Paul leading up to his knockout over Ben Askren earlier this year. But, their friendship has fizzled out, and it appears Masvidal and/or Brunson could be the next option in the ring.

Brunson has been a mainstay among the top middleweights in the UFC, especially after his incredible finish over Darren Till at UFC Vegas 36. He also holds dominant victories over Kevin Holland and Lyoto Machida.

Paul hasn’t voiced a specific date in terms of when he would like to compete in the ring next, but the timing could line up for his next fight to take place either at the end of this year or early in 2022. Brunson has made his desires known for a title rematch against Israel Adesanya for his next UFC appearance.
