Conor McGregor is a master of mental warfare, but UFC 246 opponent Donald Cerrone won’t let that affect him ahead of their Octagon clash.

With the UFC 246 press conference recently announced, many mixed martial arts (MMA) fans are expecting yet another verbal showcase from the Irishman when he gets a mic in his hand. McGregor is notorious for his verbal taunts towards past opponents such as Dustin Poirier, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather, and more, prior to their respective fights.

However, speaking to MMA Fighting recently, Cerrone said he isn’t going to let any talk affect him – unless McGregor gets personal.

“He’s the best at it. He is the best,” Cerrone said. “The thing is you’d really have to go low, talk about my grandma or my kid and then it would put it on another level. You understand what I’m saying? Then I’ll just come f*ck you up in the lobby type sh*t.

“I don’t think it’s ever going to go that way. He understands that. We’re fighting, he can talk about that all he wants but don’t low blow.”

McGregor and Cerrone will headline UFC 246 on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their contest will take place at welterweight, and should McGregor win, he could be looking at another chance at the 155-pound title. Of course, there’s also some more very interesting options he could look at as well.

Do you think the trash talk between Cerrone and McGregor will intensify?

McGregor has been in Las Vegas for several days now in preparation for his bout with Cerrone. It will certainly be an interesting matchup, as both men love to stand in the center of the Octagon and exchange. However, should Cerrone decide to take the fight to the ground, things could get very interesting.

UFC president Dana White has also suggested that, should McGregor win, he’ll be next in line for the 155-pound title. However, with other potential money fights, such as a clash with BMF Champ Jorge Masvidal, also possible, there’s no telling what’s in store for McGregor in 2020.

What do you think about McGregor’s physique ahead of his return to welterweight? Who are you picking at UFC 246?

Everyone is ready for UFC 246 later this month (Sat. January 18, 2020). In the main event of the pay-per-view (PPV), Conor McGregor will make his highly-anticipated return, taking on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at 170 pounds.

It will be McGregor’s first fight back since suffering a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October of 2018. One man who will likely be in attendance is Jorge Masvidal, the UFC’s BMF Champion. Masvidal recently spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” to offer his take on the matchup. “Gamebred” said he thinks McGregor can catch Cerrone, who is a slow starter, early to put things away. (via MMA Junkie)

“It can go many ways,” Masvidal said. “Conor is great off the block. He’s phenomenal off the start. ‘Cowboy’ is a slow starter. Conor has tremendous speed and timing in the beginning, good power, so I think he can catch him early.”

However, Masvidal does admit that there is a path to victory for Cerrone through his grappling. If Cerrone comes out looking to grapple early with McGregor, mixing things up in the process, we could be in store for a masterful performance from “Cowboy.”

“If ‘Cowboy’ comes out to grapple like he has in the past with decent strikers and even good grapplers like Rick Story, who he was able to take down and create a lot of offense like that … if that ‘Cowboy’ comes out, he can mix things up real nice. And then he can start to flow and get into his game of high kicks and punching and being tricky, like a dual threat to Conor.”

Cerrone has said, however, that he plans to come out and bang with McGregor. If that’s the case, Masvidal sees McGregor getting the job done within two rounds.

“If (Cerrone) just comes out to fight it out, I see Conor winning within the first two rounds.”

What do you think about Masvidal’s prediction for McGregor vs. Cerrone?

Conor McGregor is just two weeks away from making his UFC return. McGregor will headline UFC 246 on pay-per-view (PPV) against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at welterweight. All the action goes down from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 18, 2020.

Just two weeks out, McGregor is already in Las Vegas and in preparation for his bout with “Cowboy.” McGregor recently shared a photo of himself getting some running in in the Vegas streets, commenting on how nice it is to be back on U.S. soil again.

“Out running on the streets of Las Vegas today. We are two weeks from fight night! So great to be back on U.S soil.”

McGregor was also recently at the UFC Performance Institute, and ran into former 135-pound king Dominick Cruz. The two former champions apparently had a nice chat after running into one another.

“Crafty veteran is @dominickcruz. Good to chat bro, at the @ufcpi!”

According to McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, McGregor is taking the lead for this fight camp, as his combat sports IQ is better than anyone else around him.

“With Conor’s fighting IQ, with Conor’s understanding of the game, really, this training camp is about all of us getting out of his way,” Kavanagh said. “Provide him an environment where he gets different looks, different feels, and support him.

“Where he wants the training camp to go, with intensities, and listening to him – where he has days where he has days where he wants to push hard, and days where he wants to slow down. It’s not so much about us coaches sitting down to game plan and then filling Conor in. Conor knows more about fighting than the rest of us put together.”

Who are you picking in McGregor vs. Cerrone at UFC 246 later this month?

Dana White: The Level Of Disrespect Shown To ‘Cowboy’ Is Unbelievable

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been tasked with welcoming Conor McGregor back to the Octagon at UFC 246, and UFC president Dana White believes the disrespect shown towards Cerrone ahead of the matchup has been “unbelievable.” The narrative going around the mixed martial arts (MMA) realm is that the UFC is attempting to give McGregor an […]

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been tasked with welcoming Conor McGregor back to the Octagon at UFC 246, and UFC president Dana White believes the disrespect shown towards Cerrone ahead of the matchup has been “unbelievable.”

The narrative going around the mixed martial arts (MMA) realm is that the UFC is attempting to give McGregor an easy matchup to return to winning form. However, Cerrone is anything but an easy fight for anyone. White said as much during a recent interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. (H/T MMA Mania)

”We’re getting through this one first, we’re getting through the Cowboy fight,” White said. “And the level of disrespect shown to Cowboy through this whole thing? Apparently people forgot that Cowboy’s lost two in a row before and come back and gone on unbelievable runs. Let’s not count Cowboy out.”

UFC 246 goes down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 18. It’s going to be a very entertaining bout when two of the UFC’s most game strikers stand in the middle of the Octagon and go to work.

Do you agree with White that the level of disrespect shown to Cerrone has been unbelievable?

Donald Cerrone will headline UFC 246 on pay-per-view (PPV) opposite Conor McGregor on January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The bout will be contested at 170 pounds, despite most expecting it to take place at lightweight. UFC president Dana White has described the matchup as a lightweight fight in which neither man is cutting weight. Speaking on his new documentary series, “More Than A Cowboy,” Cerrone offered his thoughts on the fight taking place at welterweight.

Cerrone revealed that the idea was actually McGregor’s, and he thanked the Irishman for the decision. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“He just took the edge off,” Cerrone said. “A lot of cutting that weight… making it to fight week is just battling the weight cut, but now we get to go in there and have fun. Oh, man. Thank you!”

“That was Conor’s idea. We were already gearing up, trying to get down towards 155, and he said let’s do it at ’70 and I was like, ‘Done. Okay’. It never mattered to me — weight never mattered to me either.”

Cerrone and McGregor have both fought at welterweight before. However, Cerrone has shared the Octagon with welterweights bigger than him. McGregor is, arguably, undersized for the division. When Cerrone goes head-to-head with McGregor at welterweight on January 18, he’ll be competing against a man who has fought as low as 145 pounds.

“The only problem me fighting … when I was up at ’70, are those guys are big,” Cerrone said. “Big, big. I’m like 177 right now, 178, and that’s like eating whatever I want. I think he wants to enjoy the holidays with his family and eat and drink, get in there and have fun, so I don’t blame him. Why not?”

Who do you think the welterweight aspect of the UFC 246 main event benefits more?
