Justin Gaethje is obviously not happy with the current situation going on in the UFC’s 155-pound title picture.

Gaethje has, arguably, earned the next shot at the lightweight championship after Tony Ferguson challenges Khabib Nurmagomedov in Brooklyn this upcoming April. However, UFC president Dana White has since suggested that, if Conor McGregor gets past Donald Cerrone in their UFC 246 welterweight main event, and Nurmagomedov emerge victorious over Ferguson, Khabib vs. McGregor II for the lightweight title is the move.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Cerrone was asked for his take on the situation. “Cowboy” believes “The Highlight” is simply falling victim to the politics of the UFC at the moment.

“If you’re talking rankings and deserving, sure,” Cerrone said. “If you’re talking popularity and the business side of it and making money, yeah. It’s two different games. The UFC gets to pick and choose and do that they want for what makes financially more sense for them.

“That’s just what this game has turned into.”Donald Cerrone not big on trash talk ahead of matchup with Conor McGregorDonald Cerrone not big on trash talk ahead of matchup with Conor McGregorVolume 90%

Cerrone has a very interesting opportunity ahead of him. Should he defeat the UFC’s biggest star on what will be a grand stage, seemingly derailing any hopes the Irishman has of returning to his former glory, he’ll likely be rewarded handsomely with a big-time fight next as well. Of course, we’ll have to wait until January 18 to find out how things will ultimately turn out.

What do you think about Cerrone’s take on Gaethje being passed up for a title opportunity?

It was reported earlier this month that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was expected to work with Duke Roufus ahead of his fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 246. It was reported earlier this month that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was expected to work with Duke Roufus ahead of his fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 246.

Cerrone and McGregor headline the pay-per-view (PPV) event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 18, 2020. Speaking on “The Luke Thomas Show” recently, Roufus suggested he’s anticipating a visit from Cerrone shortly after Christmas.

“Kind of interesting note, I’ll switch gears, Paul Felder and Anthony [Pettis], you know they’re friends with Cowboy Cerrone, so I’m going to be getting a visit right after Christmas from Cowboy. He’s coming out to do a little training with us, and I’m pretty excited about it actually.”

Now, Cerrone has taken to an interview with MMA Junkie to correct those reports. Cerrone claims he isn’t sure where that information came from and suggested it was simply the media stirring things up.

“Those reports are not accurate,” Cerrone said. “I’m not sure where that came. I heard it also. I’m like, ‘Oh, I guess I’m going to Duke Roufus’, huh?’ It’s just another clickbait from you guys. I love you media mother (expletive) Anything you guys can grasp your (expletive) hands on you’ll do it.”

In fact, Cerrone says he doesn’t plan on changing anything up at all for his training camp as he prepares to fight McGregor.

“I’m the (expletive) horse,” Cerrone said. “I say I’m going nowhere. Same old song and dance [for this training camp], baby.”

Do you think Cerrone should make adjustments for his training camp as he prepares to fight McGregor?

Donald Cerrone Fires Back At Those Suggesting He’s Taking A Dive Against Conor McGregor

There’s no doubt that Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 will be one of the biggest fights of the year.

However, if you thought Cerrone is heading into Las Vegas willing to take a dive to allow the UFC’s biggest start to get back in the win column, you’ve got another thing coming. During a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Cerrone was asked about those who suggest he’s being paid to lose come fight night on January 18 in “Sin City.”

Cerrone says “hell no” to such a suggestion, claiming there’s not enough money in the world to get him to take a dive.

“Hell no, I’m not bowing down,” Cerrone said. “There’s a bunch of sh*t going around, people keep telling me ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive.’ There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive.

“I could never look myself in the mirror if somebody paid me to take a dive. Sh*t, never happen. I’d rather fight for free than take money to f*cking lose. That’s not me. I’m going to fight my ass off like I do every time.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since October of 2018 when he suffered a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Irishman has been much less active since making his big payday for fighting Floyd Mayweather. Due to this, some question McGregor’s determination. However, Cerrone is expecting the best version of “Notorious.”

“I expect the best Conor you guys have ever seen. I really do,” Cerrrone said. “He has so many doubters and questions that he needs to answer. I think he’s training extra hard, he’s coming and I think he’s going to be the best Conor you have ever seen.”

What do you think about people suggesting Cerrone is getting paid to take a dive against McGregor?

If you want to be in attendance for Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, we’ve got some bad news for you.

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole, UFC president Dana White has confirmed tickets for the event have sold out after the first day of being on sale. UFC 246 now has an official gate of $10 million.

“Per @danawhite #UFC246 sold out @TMobileArena on first day on sale. Gate of $10 million.”

McGregor vs. Cerrone is certainly an interesting matchup between two proven exciting strikers. However, many believe that “Cowboy” could have an easy day at the office should he opt to take things to the ground and utilize his grappling skills, a department McGregor has struggled with in the past. However, in a recent interview, Cerrone claims he’s doing to stand with the Irishman.

“I’m going to go out there and stand up with him because that’s what everyone wants to see,” Cerrone said. “Someone said earlier that’s like fighting not to win almost, but hell no. I’d rather go down in history as having the greatest fight ever and losing than fighting to just win and winning.

“I’m going out there to put on the line and throw down and give everyone what they want to see. To me, that’s what I want my legacy to be. I don’t want to be the guy that took the easy way and just ran the whole fight and tried to point fight. Hell, no. I’m going to stand and try to throw down.”

Conor McGregor has a very important fight coming up against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

The two will headline the pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 18. Given how much McGregor has been in the news for the wrong reasons over the past several years, many expected Cerrone to try and talk some trash leading up to their fight.

However, speaking to MMA Junkie, Cerrone says he won’t talk bad about the Irishman. Cerrone points out a star as massive as McGregor lives under a microscope, and everything he does is magnified.

“I’m not going to talk badly about him,” Cerrone said. “I don’t really care. He does his life and whatever he wants to do he can. I’m just as wild and crazy as him, but in a different way. The media keep asking me, ‘What do you think of the trouble he gets in?’ The guy lives under a microscope.

“Anything he does people want to blow up and make a big deal about it. That’s his life. I would never even dig at something like that. Hell, no. Only goddamn thing I’m talking about is fighting only. Anything outside of it – that’s you. You do what you want to do. You want to meet me in the cage and fight – fighting that’s a whole different thing – but I’m not going to bring up anything from the past or anything he’s done outside the octagon.

“What the dude has done inside of the cage, and what he’s done for the sport is amazing. I’m honored to fight a guy like him and it’s going to be one hell of a battle and I’m looking forward to it.”

In regards to his matchup with McGregor, many believe it could be an easy day at the office for Cerrone should he take McGregor down and grapple with him. McGregor’s grappling has been somewhat of a flaw in his game over the years, with all of his pro defeats coming by way of submission. However, Cerrone said he plans on standing with McGregor, where “Notorious” flourishes.

“I’m going to go out there and stand up with him because that’s what everyone wants to see,” Cerrone said. “Someone said earlier that’s like fighting not to win almost, but hell no. I’d rather go down in history as having the greatest fight ever and losing than fighting to just win and winning.
