Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn filed a lawsuit against Jake Paul for his recent allegations of fixing fights.
YouTube sensation turned boxer Paul took issue with the judging of Katie Taylor’s historic contest with Amanda Serrano and pointed out boxing judge Glenn Feldman’s controversial scorecard, which favored Taylor by the biggest margin of any judge, as an indication of foul play.
Eddie Hearn sued Jake Paul for $100million for fight-fixing allegations
Hearn followed through with his ultimatum and sued Paul in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. His attorney Frank Salzano reported that his clients are seeking more than $100 million in damages. TMZ was the first to report news of the lawsuit.
“Both legally and ethically there is a clear line separating opinion from defamatory lies,” Salzano said via ESPN. “Jake Paul knows that, and he purposely crossed that line when he wrongly accused Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn of fixing fights. Nonetheless he was still given an opportunity to retract his defamatory statements and refused to.”
Salzano argued that Paul’s comments caused financial damage to Hearn and the firm.
“Such accusations are obviously deeply offensive as well as damaging to [Hearn and Matchroom],” wrote Salzano, a partner in the New York law firm Salzano, Lampert & Wilson, LLP. “They are also patently false. [Paul’s] defamatory statements were made with malicious intent and have caused financial and reputational harm to [Hearn and Matchroom], which is precisely what [Paul] intended when he made the outlandish accusations,” Salzano wrote.
Paul alleged Hearn paid off a judge
In an interview last week with IFL TV, Paul claimed that Feldman was paid off by Hearn to score fights in favor of Matchroom boxers.
“It’s like a repeated crime here,” Paul told IFL TV. “This type of s—, I’m going to call it out here in boxing because it’s bulls—. Clearly, this guy (Feldman) is getting paid money by Matchroom Boxing.”
Eddie Hearn made it clear he will not tolerate any talks of potential fight fixing from Jake Paul. Paul had recently weighed in on the controversial scoring from boxing judge Glenn Feldman, who provided seemingly biased scorecards in his recent fights including athletes under Hearn’s Matchroom boxing promotion. “The Problem Child” took issue with Feldman’s […]
“The Problem Child” took issue with Feldman’s take on Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano, where he scored the fight for Taylor by the biggest margin of any judge in April.
Eddie Hearn fires back at Jake Paul for accusations of fixing fights
Following Taylor’s monumental win over Serrano, Paul accused Hearn and his camp of fixing fights. Hearn shared his thoughts on Paul’s claims with a decisive response.
“I hate all that but at the end of the day sometimes you’ve got to teach these people,” Hearn told Boxing Social. “You’ve got two options really — you can chin him or sue him. I’m not around him, I’m not going to chin him anyways. I hate it but it’s like it’s so idiotic and it’s actually disrespectful to the sport that he knows nothing about.
“Firstly he says ‘why does Eddie Hearn keep using these judges?’ I don’t use any judges. The commission selects all judges and various commissions around the world. By the way, Glenn Feldman is one of the best judges, speak to anyone in the sport. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. To make those allegations, really it pissed me off and actually upset me. It’s actually led me to take it further.” (ht MMA Fighting)
Hearn is taking the issue seriously and wants an apology from Paul to repair the defamation.
“I want an official apology from him and if he won’t then we’ll see what we have to do,” Hearn said. “But I’m not having our name in this business defamed and the integrity of what we do. It’s very important to us and our love for the sport by some geezer that has no idea what he’s talking about.
“Listen, he’s good for the sport, we have a laugh, he’s average, he don’t like me, Taylor-Serrano, etc. That’s another level that is. So that will be dealt with.”

Jake Paul has clapped back at boxing promoter to the stars, Eddie Hearn. Hearn, who promotes the likes of Anthony Joshua and Canelo Álvarez, has in the past consistently levelled one piece of criticism at YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul—that’s he’s an average fighter. Hearn maintains that it isn’t in fact an insult, but somehow, a compliment. Well,…
The mystery opponent for Jake Paul’s next fight might be revealed. Jake Paul has his next boxing match set but is keeping the details under wraps. He did announce that his next appearance in the squared circle would be on Aug. 13, however, he did not update the public on who he will be facing…
In the past few months, Paul was rumored to have a few different possible opponents. He had a short public feud with former UFC champion Michael Bisping. Some thought that Bisping, who is retired from fighting, could be making a comeback and taking on the YouTuber turned boxer.
Paul had made his way in the boxing world by challenging and beating former MMA fighters. Bisping could have fit in nicely with this niche. However, Bisping does not seem interested in fighting again.
Another former MMA fighter who is actually very interested in giving Paul a run for his money is Anderson Silva. Silva has recently made his way to boxing and has found success there after a long and accomplished MMA career. Although this matchup seems intriguing to many, it seems that is not the path Paul is on at this time.
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn let the cat out of the bag in a recent interview, stating that it would be Tommy Fury standing across the ring from Paul in August.
“I don’t represent them, but I hear that fight [Paul vs Fury] is happening Aug. 13, so you might see it,” Hearn said in an interview with TalkSPORT via MMA Mania. “Both are very limited, but as long as it’s a competitive fight, it doesn’t really matter.”
