UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier appears to have self-booked himself a fight with number one contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at the year-end UFC pay-per-view event.

D.C. responded to “Rumble” after the knockout artist, who just dispatched of Glover Texieira with extreme prejudice at the UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2 mega-event last month, took to social media to try and call out D.C. for a rematch at the November PPV at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“D.C., I want to fight you in New York City on Nov 12,” Johnson wrote on his official Facebook page. “We got 7.5 weeks to get ready and put on a fight for the fans of New York and the world to remember. It is our time to do battle! When Jon got into trouble and was removed from my title fight, I accepted you as an opponent on 3 weeks notice despite the dramatic change in fight style. You were the better man that night and took the belt. I didn’t demand an immediate rematch, it was well within my rights to do so. I went to the back of the line and fought my way back to the front. To headline the the event in Maddison Square Garden is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Let’s do it! Balls in your court Daniel. Enough of this waiting game that you or UFC is playing!”

The reigning UFC 205-pound champion, Daniel Cormier, fired back at Johnson with the following response, noting that he agrees that he, not Jon Jones, should be next to get a shot at the gold, but calling for fight number two to go down in December at UFC 207 instead of UFC 205 in New York.

“[You] deserve shot. I’m not waiting,” wrote Cormier on his official Twitter page. “Sorry bud, NYC won’t happen. But you can get it again [on] Dec 30th,” wrote D.C., who followed up the response with a hash-tag that read, “Down Goes Rumble.”

Cormier defeated Rumble via unanimous decision to become the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion when the two fought for the opportunity to become the first champion after previous champion Jon Jones was stripped of the title.

It looks like the big bottle-throwing incident between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor at the final UFC 202 pre-fight press conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada during the fight week build-up to their 170-pound rematch last month is going to end up costing both men a nice chunk of change.

Nevada Athletic Commission Executive Director Bob Bennett told Ariel Helwani during an interview for MMAFighting.com on Monday that both fighters are facing NAC sanctions for their roles in the wild incident. ESPN.com was first to report the news that Diaz and McGregor are each facing disciplinary action from the NAC, and that the Nevada Attorney General’s Office has filed individual complaints against both men.

“Totally unacceptable,” Bennett told Helwani regarding the behavior of McGregor and Diaz at the final UFC 202 pre-fight press conference. “Not indicative of the way professional fighters should conduct themselves.”

Bennett continued, “It showed disrespect for press, fighters, UFC and the commission.”

The NAC has handed down fines as a result of press conference incidents in the past, as Jon Jones was fined $50,000 and Daniel Cormier was fined $9,000 — each being 10 percent of their purse for their first fight — following their infamous UFC media day brawl in Las Vegas.

As noted, Conor McGregor was paid a $3 million guaranteed purse for UFC 202, while Nate Diaz earned a reported salary of $2 million. If the same fine of 10 percent of the fighters reported purses is handed down in this scenario, McGregor would be looking at a $300,000 fine, while Diaz would owe the NAC a payment of $200,000, both of which is about what top fighters earn as their total purse for headlining big UFC events.

The next NAC meeting is scheduled to take place on September 29th, while a second NAC meeting has also been discussed for October 10th.

Well, CM Punk claimed it was his new career, we’ll see how long that lasts.

“The Best in the World,” former WWE Superstar Phil Brooks made his MMA debut at age 37 on Saturday night, getting dominated in a one-sided affair to relative unknown, rising UFC rookie prospect Mickey Gall in one of the co-featured bouts at the UFC 203 event in Cleveland, Ohio.

Gall immediately took down Punk in the third fight from the top at the PPV at the Quicken Loans Arena this weekend, beating him down with ground and pound before securing a rear-naked choke and forcing the tap at the 2:14 mark of the very first round.

Punk and Gall were respectful in defeat, and Punk had noticeable damage to his eye and ear after the brief Octagon appearance. Punk noted that this won’t be his last fight, despite the fact that it didn’t go his way tonight. He calls tonight the second best night of his life after getting married.

For those following the theme music fun, Gall did end up coming out to the Toni Basil song, “Hey Mickey,” while Punk came out to his old WWE theme song, Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality.”
