Fedor Emelianenko is reportedly set for his farewell fight in Japan when he takes on Quinton Jackson.

“It looks increasingly likely that Bellator will run a show Dec. 29 in Japan. Main event being discussed is Rampage Jackson vs. Fedor Emelianenko, and it would be billed as the Russian’s final fight in Japan,” The Athletic’s Josh Gross is reporting.

Emelianenko last fought back at Bellator 214 where he was fighting for the heavyweight title and in the grand prix finals. But, he was knocked out by Ryan Bader in 35 seconds. Since then, he has signed a new contract with Bellator which is expected to be his ‘farewell’ tour as of sorts. Before the loss to Bader, he knocked out Chael Sonnen and Frank Mir in the grand prix opening rounds.

The legend of the sport and one who is in the GOAT conversation is currently 38-6.

Quinton Jackson, meanwhile, last fought at Bellator 206 when he TKO’d Wanderlei Silva. Before that, he lost to Sonnen by decision in the opening round of the heavyweight grand prix.

Surprisingly, the two have yet to fight each other during their long careers.

Currently, this is just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by Bellator. But, it would be a Bellator card in Japan and not a RIZIN cross-promotion event.

Who do you think will win the fight between Fedor Emelianenko vs. Quinton Jackson if it happens?

Fabricio Werdum believes Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest heavyweight of all-time, not Daniel Cormier like many suggest.

‘DC’ beat one of the best ever in Stipe Miocic and if he can beat him again on Saturday, he will no doubt cement his legacy. Yet, according to Werdum that still won’t be enough to overpass what Emelianenko did.

“In my opinion, for sure (Cormier) is a very good fighter – two belts, different divisions – but the best fighter, in my opinion, is Fedor,” Werdum said to media members (h/t MMA Junkie). “He deserves (it). Ten years, he never lost before, and I believe Fedor continues to be the best heavyweight in the world.”

During the PRIDE days, he won 27-straight fights and went 10 years unbeaten as Werdum says. But, the first man to give him a loss during that time was Werdum. However, even though the Brazilian beat and finished him, he says Fedor is still the greatest ever.

“Not because I finished him,” Werdum said. “Before, I looked at him as my idol, but when I fought him, I wanted to finish him. That’s it.”

Regardless, it is a debate many fans, fighters, and media alike do. Everyone has different opinions but according to Werdum, it is Fedor Emelianenko who is the greatest heavyweight of all-time.

Dana White has been the frontman of the UFC for nearly 20 years. Over his time as President, White has made some of the biggest fights in mixed martial arts (MMA) history.

However, there is one fight that White failed to make that seems to bother him to this day. During yesterday’s (Sat. July 27, 2019) UFC 240 pay-per-view (PPV) post-fight press conference, White discussed some of the biggest fights he has ever made over the course of his career.

The topic came up when White was asked about booking the rematch between Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes. Cyborg’s victory last night in Canada was the final bout on her UFC contract. When White was asked if he thinks he can reach a deal to re-sign Cyborg and book a rematch with Nunes, White said he was confident he can get it done, as he always finds a way to make big fights happen.

But he pointed out that he did fail to make one big heavyweight blockbuster. A collision between Brock Lesnar and the legendary Fedor Emelianenko:

“Um, I hope so [they can make a deal with Cyborg]. I hope so,” White said. “If that’s true, if that’s the fight she wants and she really wants that fight, I don’t see how we don’t make a deal. I mean, if you look at my history in 20 years, how many deals have I not made for a fight?

“I think there’s been, like, one. There was one fight I didn’t make. We never got the Russian. Fedor. Yeah, I was trying to do that Fedor, Brock fight. That’s the fight I didn’t make.”

Lesnar has since retired from MMA competition, while Emelianenko is currently on a “retirement tour” while inked to the Bellator MMA promotion. Sadly, the Russian never got the opportunity to test himself inside the UFC’s Octagon. And it looks like he never will.

What do you think about White saying he failed to make Emelianenko vs. Lesnar?

It looks like Fedor Emelianenko’s retirement tour with Bellator could feature a stop in Japan.

Bellator president Scott Coker spoke to “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show” this week and discussed the possibility of running a show in Japan. The show would ideally be a cross-promotion event with RIZIN in December (via BJPenn.com):

“There’s nothing confirmed,” Coker said. “As people already know, we’ve been talking to Sakakibara about doing some type of event together. We haven’t decided if it’s going to be a ‘co-pro,’ fight sharing, a Bellator event by itself.

“But I’d love nothing more than to be in Japan sometime in December throwing a big fight there at Saitama Super Arena, where all the big fights happen.”

In regards to who Fedor could fight on the Japan card, he threw out potential names such as Josh Barnett and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, two very big names amongst the Japanese mixed martial arts (MMA) community:

“Whether it’s a Japanese fighter or he fights (Quinton) ‘Rampage’ Jackson or Josh Barnett, or whoever, I think it would just be a magical night to see him back in the Bellator cage in Tokyo,” Coker said.

Fedor competed regularly in Japan in the early years of his MMA career. However; once he started fighting for promotions such as Affliction, Strikeforce, and Bellator, Fedor’s appearances in Japan have become rarer in recent years.

What do you think about Fedor possibly returning to Japan along with Bellator?
