Episode 7 had Team Jones coming up short again. Jon Jones’ number one pick Clint Hester was choked out in the second round by Team Sonnen’s Jimmy Quinlan. That puts Hester with the list of other fighters who were surprisingly upset, which includes Bubba McDaniel and Tor Troeng. What was so bizarre about this fight was, Hester could have won it, if he had just kept it standing at the beginning of the second. Instead, he ran across the octagon at Quinlan with his head down in a terrible attempt to take him down. Why would you try and take down a man who took you down at will and controlled you the entire first round. Hester managed to actually do more damage and strike more blows than Quinlan did even being on his back, but the fact was, he was being controlled and taken out of his element. After seeing the shots Hester managed to land from his back, I thought two things. One, he might have won that round in some of the judges eyes. Second, if he can keep it standing and really use his striking, he will surely finish Quinlan or at least win round two. However, his flawed game plan allowed Quinlan to once again take control, and eventually get the submission. Now Team Jones needs Dylan Andrew to defeat Zak Cummings, or it’s pretty much a wrap for Team Jones.
Fallon Fox is bracing herself for controversy, and as the first on-record transgender female fighter in mixed martial arts, she’s going to get plenty of it. Fallon Fox, who underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2006 along with the supplemental hormonal therapy, is scheduled to fight again for the CFA on April 20 in the semifinals of its eight-woman featherweight tournament. However, Fallon Fox’s license approval is now under investigation with Florida’s Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation.
Team Lloyd Irvin crippled by mass exodus of top students after yet another scandal. Former students described the atmosphere in the Team Lloyd Irvin system unbearable. That atmosphere, combined with allegations of sexual abuse of at least one female student, appears to have led to several of the Teams top students to defect.

Kevin and George from Uncut Sports “weigh in” on the main event for the upcoming UFC 158 event. This might be one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history, and it’s finally going to happen, well maybe I shouldn’t say that. If GSP can mimic what Condit did against Diaz, then he’ll win. Diaz punches in bunches, and sometimes that’s difficult to do against a man as athletic and quick as GSP. Carlos Condit created a blueprint to beat Diaz, and Benson Henderson used that blueprint to beat Nick’s younger brother Nate. The Diaz brothers have incredible hands, but they don’t knock you out with one shot. They methodically chip away at your ass, until you fall down. If you can get in and out, you can avoid this. However, I think the Diaz camp will take a long look at what Condit did, and realize that GSP could easily follow that formula to victory. Don’t be surprise if Diaz lets it go to the ground and works for submission.

George and Kevin from Uncut Sports “weigh in” on the welterweight fights featured on the upcoming UFC 158 card. Canadian Nick Ring might be one of the sleepers in the middles. His only loss was a decision to Tim Boetsch, he’s well rounded and can beat you several ways. However, his opponent Chris Camozzi is just as well rounded and on a three fight win streak. Expect a technical fight from these two.
Winner of this one, will face the winner of the GSP vs. Diaz fight, it’s pretty simple. Johny Hendricks is on fucking tear. He’s dropping welterweights like a bad habit, with knockouts over Kampmann, Fitch, Waldburger, and Brenneman in 4 of his last 7. I think he’s the scariest thing in this stacked welterweight class. Nonetheless, Carlos Condit is a very smart and methodical fighter. Condit needs to do exactly what he did to Diaz to beat Hendricks. However, in my opinion Hendricks packs more power and can end it in one shot. If Hendricks quickly works his way to the inside, and avoids the leg kicks of Condit, he can win this fight. Vegas seems to think, that’s what will happen, and so do I.

Kevin and George from Uncut Sports “weigh in” on the lightweight bouts from the upcoming UFC 158 card. Lightweights Mike Ricci and Colin Fletcher will clash at UFC 158. Canadian Mike Ricci looks to get consistent after losing 3 of his last 5. If you recall Ricci was defeated by Colton Smith via unanimous decision on December 15, 2012 at the The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson Finale. Ricci has some knockout power and he showed it when he received Knockout of the season in TUF 16, and 4 of his 7 victories inside the Octagon have come via KO. Colin Fletcher was in TUF the Smashes. Fletcher faced Norman Parke on December 15, 2012 in the finals at UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson. He lost the fight via unanimous decision. I think Fletcher needs to take this fight to the ground, all but one of his wins have come via submission. If he stands and bangs with Ricci, it could be a short night.
Jake Ellenberger will meet returning UFC veteran Nate Marquardt who made the drop to welterweight in his short stint with Strikeforce. This is an interesting match up, and vital for both fighters who have been a little hit or miss lately. Vegas has Ellenberger as the favorite, and I’m gonna have to agree with them. I think that Ellenberger’s ability to mix up his hands and wrestling will keep Marquardt guessing, off balance, and create a slow start. With this fight only being three rounds. I see Ellenberger earning a decision.
