The Ultimate Fighting Championship has booked it’s second ever women’s bout for the Octagon on April 13th when former Strikeforce champ Miesha ‘Takedown’ Tate (13-3) takes on undefeated fighter Cat Zingano (7-0) in a bantamweight bout as part of the TUF 17 Finale event.

Officials with the UFC confirmed the bout this afternoon at UFC.com along with several other matches for the reality show final.

The UFC’s nascent women’s division will have its sophomore scrap between two of its top athletes as former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate takes on rising star Cat Zingano.

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen Finale (aka TUF 17 Finale) is expected to take place on April 13, 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will feature the middleweight tourny finals.

Tate is 7-1 over his last six matches having bounced back from a title loss to Ronda Rousey last March by submitting opponent Julie Kedzie in August at the Rousey vs. Kaufman event. The loss to Rousey followed Tate’s winning the title by defeating Marloes Coenen in July 2011.

Zingano debuted with the Invicta FC promotion last October earning her seventh straight win by submitting opponent Raquel Pennington. The Colorado fighter has had quite the career, picking up four titles with two different promotions. Zingano became the first Ring of Fire women’s 125-and-135-lbs champion, as well as winning the Fight To Win 125-and-130-lbs titles.
