Azerbaijan’s Akif Guluzada is a rising star in the world of Muay Thai, making waves with his impressive performances in ONE Championship. Observers have described him as a “buzzsaw” due to his relentless and aggressive fighting style.

In ONE Championship Muay Thai he now holds a record of 2-0 with his most recent victory over Samingdam came by TKO in the first round at 2:41. Akif Guluzada is considered a rising talent in the Muay Thai world. His knockout victory over Samingdam has certainly increased his profile.

Samingdam Looksuanmuaythai is a professional Muay Thai fighter from Thailand who competes in ONE Championship’s flyweight division. Samingdam’s recent fights in ONE Championship have been mixed trading wins and losses. Following his loss to Akif Guluzada on November 1, 2024, it was reported that Fareast Looksuan, the owner of Looksuan Muay Thai camp, expressed disappointment in Samingdam’s performance. At 22 years old, he still has potential for growth and improvement in his Muay Thai career.

‘Dangerous’ Dakota Ditcheva continues her first-round knockout win streak in the PFL. With these wins, she will face former UFC contender Talia Santos in the PFL finals later this year. Last night at PFL 7, both Ditcheva and Santos won their matches but the English Ditcheva did so with an impressive finish.

Dakota Ditcheva vs. Jena Bishop Knockout Highlights

The UK-born Dakota Ditcheva was able to the finals of PFL Europe in 2023 with a first-round knockout finish. Once in the main PFL organization in 2024, she has now been able to defeat Lisa Mauldin, Chelsea Hackett, and Jena Bishop all by knockout in the first round.

Last night at PFL 7, she finished the skilled grappler Jena Bishop with a mix of knees, kicks, and punches.

With this win, Dakota Ditcheva will next face Talia Santos.

While speaking in an interview with me last year, the UK-born Dakota Ditcheva discussed her motivation and how she feels as though she does all of this for her mother. With world titles in karate, kickboxing, and Muay Thai Lisa Howarth raised Ditcheva with striking knowledge. Ditcheva explained:

“My striking has all come from my mum. And, even though I’ve got these amazing coaches now that are helping me, the coaches I’ve had along the way have just added and added to my game. All my fundamentals are from my mum. Everything was from her. She’s the woman that’s got me here for sure, and that’s just that skillset, mentally, everything. And, this belt will definitely be for her. She deserves it more than me. Sometimes I feel like I’m, I’m fighting for her, and that’s what motivates me.”

Talia Santos vs. Liz Carmouche Highlights

Also at PFL 7, the former UFC contender Talia Santos faced former Bellator champion Liz Carmouche. Brazil’s Santos was able to defeat Carmouche from bell to bell. Overall in 2024, Santos has defeated Jena Bishop, Ilara Joanne, and Carmouche. With these victories, Santos is set to face Ditcheva in the PFL finals for one million dollars.

Buakaw Banchamek took a loss against Stoyan Koprivlenski during their K-1 World MAX kickboxing bout earlier in 2024. Thailand’s Buakaw was looking to turn back the clock and reclaim kickboxing gold, but the Bulgarian striker Koprivlenski defeated the kickboxing and Muay Thai legend over three rounds.

‘The Sniper’ Koprivlenski sat down with K-1 to break down his matchup against Buakaw Banchamek.

Buakaw Banchamek

The Thai-born Buakaw Banchamek has achieved legendary status throughout his iconic career between kickboxing and Muay Thai. The striker changed the landscape of kickboxing in 2004 when he won the K-1 World MAX Grand Prix, and repeated this feat in 2006. Buakaw fought the best of a golden era generation and was decorated in gold.

Retirement is not something on Buakaw’s mind. He is aged 42 and made his professional debut in 1999, competing in the Stadium Muay Thai scene, in 2024 he is showing no signs of slowing down. Buakaw fought Saenchai in a legends Muay Thai match in BKFC, plus has taken bouts in Rajadamnern World Series.

Stoyan Koprivlenski

Bulgaria’s Stoyan Koprivlenski is a highly talented kickboxer. The 30-year-old is well known for being an incredibly entertaining striker and is frequently in fight-of-year matches. Being one of the top-ranked fighters in this division, he has dropped contentious split decision losses to reigning champions Tyjani Beztati and Kaito Ono. However, these close losses did not deter him. Instead, he was determined to pick up K-1 Kickboxing gold in 2024.

Buakaw and Stoyan Koprivlenski fought in the Quarter Finals round of the K-1 World MAX 2024 – World Championship Tournament. The two strikers battled for three rounds. The Thai veteran had a great first round showing incredible speed and defense but faded with the constant pressure of ‘The Sniper’ Koprivlenski. It was quite an exciting matchup.

Ultimately, Koprivlenski would get his hand raised. Next, the Bulgarian athlete defeated Brazil’s Dengue Silva in the Semi Finals, in another barnburner of a fight. Lastly, Koprivlenski would knock out Viktor Akimov in the tournament final to take home the K-1 World MAX Championship in 2024. All three fights took place in a single evening.

Koprivlenski spoke to K-1 about his matchup, he outlined the adjustments and gameplan for the fight. The Bulgarian-born striker also explained how he grew up watching Buakaw and what a legend he is.

“[Buakaw] is my fighting hero … I grew up watching his fights,” Koprivlenski continued, “I had to be more active.” He scored a knockdown in round 2 with a head kick, and said, “I don’t think the kick was that hard but he didn’t expect it.”

A 21-year-old Russian Female MMA champion Alisa Irinina knocked down a man with a picture-perfect right hook. This was after being harassed by the man all night at a friend’s party in a nightclub.

According to a local report, the man had shown up without an invitation, harassed the group of women, and was asked to stop and leave multiple times. The man then began to touch Alisa Irinina inappropriately and was once again asked to stop. She even asked the bouncers to get involved but was offered no help, thus the Russian female MMA champion took matters into her own hands.

CCTV footage captured the moment Alisa delivered a single punch to the man’s face, knocking him down. He struggled to get up while the bouncer watched. Alisa Irinina has been training in martial arts since childhood and won a bronze medal in the 2020 World Amateur Grappling and MMA League Championship. Fedor Emelianenko and Irinina share a birth city; Stary Oskol.

The Female MMA champion’s friends had confirmed the story, explaining that he was asked to stop and leave multiple times but refused, the friend said, “At first, she asked him calmly to leave, and not to touch her, wanting the security guard to help. But the guy didn’t understand the word ‘no’. But there was simply no other choice.”

The mother of Irinina added: “Alisa was able to stand up for herself. It’s a pity that not a single man looked out for my girl.”

Dave Leduc retires after intense Kun Khmer fight with Prom Samnang in Cambodia

Dave Leduc, the Myanmar-Canadian boxing icon and first foreign champion of Myanmar’s national martial art, Lethwei, squared off with Kun Khmer legend Prum Samnang in a battle of combat sports titans on Sunday.

Emanating from The Town Arena at Chip Mong 271 Megamall in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Leduc stepped into the ring for what is expected to be his final fight after more than 10 years of dominance in Lethwei and Muay Thai. The ‘Steel Giraffe’ initially kickstarted his career competing in mixed martial arts, but opted to make the move to Myanmar where he quickly established himself as one of the most exciting fighters in sport.

Leduc claimed the Openweight Lethwei Golden Belt, defending it an incredible nine times. He also captured titles under the ILFJ, MLWC, and WLC banners.

Meeting him in the ring was Cambodian Kun Khmer fighter Prom Samnang. ‘The Barber’ won the Gold medal at in the SEA Games in 2023 and was a flag bearer for Team Cambodia during the opening ceremony. With 160 career wins to his credit, Prom is considered to be one of the best fighters in the history of Kun Khmer, earning the 2023 Krud Kun Khmer 78 kg world championship and the 2023 Techo Santepheap Kun Khmer title.

They say there’s no stronger bond than that between a boy and his mom.

In Poland, that proved to be much more than an expression over the weekend when a 50-year-old mom strapped on a pair of eight-ounce gloves and stepped inside the cage to settle some business with the 19-year-old girl that broke her boy’s heart.

Ma?gorzata Zwierzy?ska, who also goes by the name ‘Gosia Magical’ online, previously revealed that she had been plotting an MMA match with her son’s ex-girlfriend, Nikola Alokin. On Saturday, the bout went down under the Clout MMA banner, a promotion known for making outlandish fights on the regular.

“Thank god slippers weren’t allowed otherwise it would’ve been a blood bath,” wrote one fan on X.

“‘More entertaining than any Paul fight,” another quipped.

Poland Has Done Are More Outlandish Fights Than Mom vs. Ex-Girlfriend

It’s far from the first time Poland has hosted some questionable mixed martial arts matchups, though Saturday’s event may have been the first-ever mom vs. ex-girlfriend matchup in the history of the sport. In 2021, one promotion in particular came under fire after booking an intergender contest pitting Piotr ‘Mua Boy’ Lisowski against female arm wrestler Ula Siekacz.

Siekacz made it to the second round before being pummeled to the point that the referee was forced to step in and call for the stoppage as blood-thirsty fans cheered. “I’m not going to get slapped by a guy anymore. I consciously took up this fight — that is, I knew what I was [doing],” Siekacz told her fans following the contest.”I am waiting for some interesting suggestions and I will continue to develop. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.“

Following the incident the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation issued a statement condemning the ill-conceived matchup.

“Media coverage has brought our attention to an inter-sex MMA bout that took place in Poland over the weekend,” IMMAF CEO Densign White said in a statement. Although neither the promoter nor competitors have any association with IMMAF, as the international governing body for amateur mixed martial arts, I feel it is important that I state our position.

“IMMAF categorically disagrees with this intentionally scandalous, form of entertainment, which does not represent the sport of MMA or its values and puts women at risk. It is unacceptable that women and men should compete against each other in combat sports, essentially for reasons of safety but also fair play, and we in no way endorse this” (h/t DailyMail).
