Firas Zahabi thinks Tyron Woodley has a tough task ahead of him when he squares off against Jake Paul on August 29, partially due to the fact the YouTuber will “definitely” be using performance-enhancing drugs.

“This is a very tough fight for Tyron,” Zahabi said on a recent AMA session. “Why would Tyron Woodley possibly lose this fight? One, the guy he’s fighting is bigger, and he’s a big puncher.”

“(Woodley) doesn’t want to take that risk, even though he has that skill,” Zahabi added “He executes in sparring, but he’s a little bit gunshy (in actual fights).

“Two things are gonna happen, either (Jake Paul) is going to move ahead on the scorecards against Woodley, or he’s gonna get knocked out by a counter right. I doubt Woodley knocks him out with any other punch.

“He knocks out a young, overly excited Jake Paul, who’s overly confident, walks into his right hand and gets laid out. Is that a possibility? Absolutely. However, I do feel that Jake Paul holds the same weapon. He’s got a devastating, devastating right hand, except Jake Paul is going to be more active, with the same right hand.

“Either guy can get knocked out with a right hand, but Jake Paul is bigger, explosive, very athletic,” Zahabi said. “Because he’s bigger, he could push around, he could bully a Tyron Woodley a little bit.”

Zahabi went on to express his belief that Paul will be using PEDs and Woodely will not on August 29.

“I didn’t want to mention it, but my number one factor — Jake Paul’s corner, they’re going to be on all sorts of substances,” Zahabi said. “I don’t think they test. Maybe the week of the fight, (but) there’s no USADA. I didn’t want to say, but I think that’s a major factor. When I say he’s bigger and stronger and he’s more athletic, I think he’s basically on PEDs.

“I hate to say it, but I definitely think Jake Paul is going to be on PEDs. It exists in the world of boxing, just like it exists in MMA,” Zahabi added. “And I don’t think Tyron will be on PEDs. I think Tyron will be totally natural. Does it make a difference? It absolutely does.” (Transcribed by Bloody Elbow)

Do you think Firas Zahabi is right? Will Jake Paul be using PEDs ahead of his fight with Tyron Woodley?

Tristar head coach Firas Zahabi has been appalled at the behavior of Conor McGregor recently and ultimately questioning why so many people are fans of him still.

McGregor took an aggressive approach to build up the fight and ended up dragging Dustin Poirier’s wife into his trash talk before and after the fight, raising the level of animosity between the two fighters.

“I was really grossed out,” Zahabi said on the Tristar Gym YouTube channel. “I don’t know how you guys can be fans of this man. I respect him as a fighter. I respect his skills – I can’t deny that. But the way he behaved at the press conference was just horrible.”

Zahabi believes McGregor is surrounded by yes men who will let him do whatever it be, verbally or physically. Unfortunately, this may be the leading cause of the downfall for the Notorious One.

“If Conor McGregor has one true friend in this world … maybe he’s just surrounded by people who just want his prestige and money and they just want what they can get from him,” Zahabi said. “But if he has a single true friend in this world, that true friend is going to take him behind closed doors and tell him, ‘Look, the way you’re behaving – it’s stupid. You’re making yourself look bad. You’re embarrassing us, your family, your friends.’ It’s just a humiliating way for a true martial artist, a warrior to behave.

“He’s going after kids now. Now, if that was anybody else, if that was a guy on a prelim card, we would all be like, ‘Kick this guy off the roster. Kick this guy out of the UFC. No, no, no.’ But because it’s Conor McGregor, you can’t say that. It’s Conor McGregor – he’s the poster boy. He’s the one who sells all the tickets. No – there’s no pass for that.”

While being surrounded by yes men can certainly be an issue in McGregor’s camp, Zahabi believes his inability to accept losses and move forward gracefully is something that might ultimately destroy McGregor’s legacy.

“I think McGregor suffers from narcissism – heavily, heavily narcissistic,” Zahabi said. “And unfortunately for him, he can’t see that he’s at fault. That’s why he needs a true friend or family member to step in and kind of sober him up a little bit because honestly, all he did was embarrass himself. You’ll never see a fighter behave like this.

“He’s the only guy that even if he loses, he can’t take it. He can’t look in the mirror and say, ‘You know what? That wasn’t my fight. It didn’t go my way. I lost. Here’s what I have to do to improve. This is how I better myself.’ No, no, no – in his mind, ‘It was a freak accident. There was no check. You were going to get a beating in the second round.’ It’s just nonsense. Pure nonsense. Not only has his skills as a fighter dipped, but also his character.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The downfall of McGregor’s reputation is something that can be fixed. We’ve seen him lose gracefully and carry himself like a champion when he did so. Can he reclaim that self belief he once had? Can he become graceful once again? That’s a question very few people ultimately know.

Georges St-Pierre’s long-time coach, Firas Zahabi, believes Nate Diaz would beat the vast majority of MMA fighters if you took away the fight clock.

The UFC fan favourite fell to a decision defeat at the hands of Leon Edwards earlier this month. ‘Rocky’ dictated the majority of the 25-minute fight but was clipped by Diaz in the fifth and final frame. The Englishman was able to survive on wobbly legs to take home the win while Diaz walked away with a moral victory of sorts.

During a recent Q&A on the Tristar Gym YouTube channel, Zahabi insisted that Diaz would beat “99 percent of fighters” if there was no time limit.

“If you put (Nate Diaz) in a fight where there is no time limit, I think he beats 99 percent of fighters,” Zahabi said. “You can’t sub him. You can’t finish him. The guy doesn’t stop walking forward. He puts volume on you. He is the scariest, in my opinion, street fighter in MMA.

“I think if you had to fight him in the street, man, you are in a fight for your life. Ain’t going to be no judges standing you up between rounds. There’s no judge to come and give you the win. No, no. This guy ain’t going away. I think if he had a no time limit fight with Leon Edwards, he beats Leon Edwards – and I have a tremendous admiration for Leon Edwards.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Diaz has lost 13 times during his 33-fight MMA career but has only been truly finished on two occasions. In his seventh professional fight the Stockton, California native was caught in an armbar by Hermes Franca. It would be six more years before Diaz was stopped again. In 2013, Josh Thomson landed a brutal head kick and follow up strikes that forced the Diaz corner to throw in the towel.
