Welterweight contender Geoff Neal believes Michael Chiesa is “scared sh*tless” by the idea of fighting him.

Speaking to MMA Fighting Neal revealed he is happy with the UFC who are actively trying to secure him an opponent – it just seems like no-one wants to fight him, he said.

“The UFC’s been doing a great job trying to find me a fight. They can only do so much. They can’t make somebody fight. You hear Dana White say all the time ‘I can’t make these guys fight.’ That’s really what it comes down to. They’ve been trying. I don’t know the exact details of what the other parties have been offered but I know sh*t’s been going around and they’ve been pretty much saying no.”

Neal was keen to say he doesn’t believe most welterweights are ducking him, just Chiesa who thinks is “scared sh*tless” by the idea of fighting him, he said.

“I don’t want to call any fighters scared. Well, I will call one fighter scared. I think Michael Chiesa is f*cking scared sh*tless to fight me.”

“I feel like that fight makes so much sense and he’s trying to make it seem like it doesn’t make sense,” Neal said. “That doesn’t make sense to me and it makes me think you’re scared. You only have three wins in the welterweight division. You fought two dudes who are pretty much f**king lightweights and one dude that’s old as hell.

“And then you think you deserve Colby Covington? No. Just because you’re ranked No. 7 or 8 or whatever the f**k you are, fight me. I’m 5-0, you’re 3-0, the fight makes sense. He’s trying to make it like the fight doesn’t make sense and I don’t know what to make of that.”

If it really is fear keeping Chiesa or any other fighter from stepping in againt him, Neal says they should probably think about calling it a day.

“If it is fear keeping people from fighting me, they need to retire from this sport,” Neal said. “This is the fight game. When it comes time to fight, yeah, I’m scared but I don’t give a f**k. That’s not going to stop me from fighting somebody. It’s the fight game.

“If that’s the reason they don’t want to fight me because they’re scared, they need to re-evaluate what the hell they’re doing.”

Geoff Neal followed through on his promise to become the first person to finish Mike Perry via TKO.

Neal made quick work of Perry on the UFC 245 featured preliminary bout on ESPN this past weekend (Sat. December 14, 2019). Perry got rocked with a head kick early on and Neal proceeded to finish him with strikes. It was a tremendous showing from Neal, who established himself as a contender to keep your eye on at 170 pounds.

As for Perry, it’s quite the setback, as he’s now on a two-fight losing streak, having dropped three of his last four. Now, Perry has released a lengthy statement on Instagram, praising Neal for his performance Saturday night.

“He set things up. Adapted to my movement. I was waiting and he took initiative. Thought even tho my right hand loaded I would still block the kick. I remember the kick. Then I went to defensive mode. Didn’t fire back. Didn’t shoot In or go for the clinch. Can’t wait. Had him against the cage but I didn’t GO.

“Missed my chance. Gonna be an interesting year 2020. I have to look at life with such a different plan. Maybe I’m gonna start living. Possibilities are endless. I am forced to be better. I’ve hit the bottom but I know I will find a path up hill. I’ll be the turtle. Got some sense and inner peace knocked into me. I will be better.

“The gym is calling me. No pressure. I’ll just be taking my time. I will Earn the right to win again. No telling how long it will take.”

Mike Perry was not pleased with his performance against Geoff Neal at UFC 245.

The two hard-hitting welterweights collided on the featured prelim bout on Saturday with many expecting a back-and-forth war. Instead, Neal rocked Perry with a head kick before dropping him with punches on his way to a first-round TKO victory.

For Perry, it was not only the quickest defeat of his career after just 90 seconds but also the first time he was finished by strikes. Reflecting on his performance the day after, “Platinum” commented on the setback:

“Phok bro. Wtf , my offense wasn’t there,” Perry tweeted. “Damn if I don’t feel like a dumbass. Kids don’t be like me. It’s dangerous when you seem to enjoy getting hit in the face , But Still , I will be back in the gym to drill moves to kill until my team feels I’ll bring the thrills ! Thanks”

The defeat puts Perry on a two-fight losing skid while he has also lost five of his last seven outings.

However, given his popularity as a fan-favorite fighter as well as his usually-entertaining performances, Perry should have no worries whatsoever about potentially being cut — even if he goes on to lose three in a row for the first time in his career.
